ActionScript 1/2 :: Buttons Don't Work After Adding OnPress?

Nov 12, 2009

I have an MC that has a graphic. I have faked buttons for just the over state, so it shows a border around a portion of the graphic. That works fine until I added this to the MC:

this.onPress = function(){    if (this._currentframe != 1) {
rewind = true;
}}

The onPress function does what it should do, but the buttons no longer show their over state when I hover over them.

30 Buttons With Sound But Only Plays The Pressed Ones In Sequence?

Jun 12, 2010

Iv build a simple flash projector to offer to my local fire department Essentially they used to in internal audio alarms to warn firefighters when there is an accident, fire, aggression, etcIn the version 1.0 they click several buttons, one to play the alarm sound, otherto announce the vehicle or vehicles that goes out, and a last one that says what is occurring.

The problem they report is that the sounds play immediately when you click in each of the buttons, and even the sound overlaps the other, which makes they click on each button and have to wait for the sound to finish and then click next. All this is normal because I associated the sounds to the buttons. What do I need to do the flash in this order in the version 2 of my projector:

1 The Fireman choose the type of alarm you want to play and click the button corresponding (but do not want the sound to play now) let's imagine that he pressed the button "alarm 1"

2 The Fireman choose (s) vehicles which are going out to the occurrence (but do not want the sound to play now) let's imagine that pressed the button "ABSC01"

3 The Fireman choose the type of occurrence (but do not want the sound to play now) we will imagine that pressed the button "fire"

4 finally the fireman holding down the "PLAY" (the green on on the top of the image) and this Makes the sounds selected to start playing in sequence, liker "Alarm 1" then "ABSC01 "and then" Fire "

Logically speaking I believe that each button must declare a variable associated with every unique sound, and then pressing the button takes the variables and plays them in sequence and without overlapping sounds.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Using Buttons To Select The Correct Answer?

Dec 22, 2010

I have a simple game I am attempting to write. random movie clip (from the library) is displayed on the stage from an array of mc's  Here's the question. What my game will do, is allow the user to select one of two buttons (red and green) based on the movieclip that is displayed. One will yield a correct result and the other will yield an incorrect result.HOWEVER, depending on the movie clip displayed, sometimes the red button will yield the correct result and sometimes the green button will yield the correct result. I am having trouble figuring out the best logic in writing code to accomplish this.

Actionscript 3 :: Play Sounds In An Array In A Sequence?

Mar 20, 2012

When the last sound finishes, all sound should stop, and if you push the play button again, it should start over at the beginning, and play through all sounds again.

I'm thinking the SOUND_COMPLETE needs to be used... I'm just not sure how, hence the empty function. I only want to have to push play one time to hear the entire array in a sequence.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Load Swf Files In Sequence Using Array?

Jul 28, 2009

I want to to load a series of swf files into a scene sequentially. I stumbled onto some Actionscript 3.0 code in this forum that accomplishes this.

var a:Array = new Array("1.swf", "2.swf", "3.swf");var l:Loader; function didLoad(e:Event){addChild(l);doLoad();} function doLoad(){if (a.length) {l = new Loader();l.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, didLoad);l.load(new URLRequest(a.splice(0,1)));}} doLoad();

Unfortunately, I also want to be able to load the swf files into movie clips in the scene. This code doesn't do that. It loads the swf files on top of each other sequentially. I want to be able to position the swf files side by side. how to tweak the code to load the swf files into movie clips in the scene.

I can't seem to make it work. No matter how much I play with it:

[Code]....

I've since lost contact with the person assisting me. I've read up on arrays, and I don't think that this is my problem or why I can't get my head around it. Maybe its the loop?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Create Sequence Module With Radio Buttons In Frame?

Jul 28, 2009

I'm creating a sequencing module with a bunch of radio buttons in frame 1. When a user clicks the wrong radio button it tells them. When the click the right one it moves them to frame 10. In frame 10 the correct radio button is hidden and the user has to click the next one in order. if they click the wrong one it tells them and if they click the correct one it gives new feedback and advances them to frame 20 and so forth until they get them all in order. Can I add a new event listener to a component in frame 10? how do I cancel out a previous event listener and associated function from frame 1 that was associated with that radio button? The problem I am having is that the script is calling both the frame 1 function on that button AND the frame 10 function on that button. How to correct this?

ActionScript 3.0 :: XML Quiz With Correct Answers - Arranging Within Array

May 18, 2009

I need to put together a really simple flash Quiz for this project I am working on
and I am having a hell of a time figuring out a few key aspects.

1. When working with an array and an xml file, how can I assign the "correct" answer if a user selected the wrong option. Ideally I would love it to say for example " sorry, Egyptians was the correct answer" but would settle for " sorry, 3 was the correct answer" if that is easier to arrange within an array.

2. How can I make it so it marks your first answer and only your first answer (as opposed to how it is now where if you guessed wrong you can keep on guessing until it is right and it will notice the right answer and ignore the wrong)?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Basic Buttons - Advance User To Correct Frame Labels And Stop

Sep 13, 2010

I have a flash site that has a presentation page it has a menu of two buttons (1) to take you to a slide show and (2) that takes you to the gallery. These are the only two buttons that seem to work in control test movie, I get no errors. The only button that is connected is the slideshow button (I haven't done the gallery yet). This button takes you to frame two. Where I have the main website. It has its own menu that spans across the entire website which is 25 frames.

Each frame represents a new page. I have mini menus at frames 3, 5, and ten. That are supposed to just advance the user to correct frame labels and stop. The only buttons that work are the ones in the first frames. The rollovers appear to work on all the pages when I advance the movie using the [ . ] key but I get no trace statement which means that it is not being acknowledged, all my buttons are named properly I believe so here is the code as well, all is in frame one:

stop();
//handle events for buttons...
Gallery.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickSection);
Home.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickSection);
Location.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickSection);
Guest.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickSection);

ActionScript 2.0 :: Button OnPress Calls Another Button's OnPress?

Nov 5, 2007

[URL]

First, click on the Abaco island shape on the map. You'll see on rollOver there is a glow around the island. Now click on that island and the glow remains for the zoomed-in detailed view. When you return to map and zoom back out, the glow is removed.

Now, compare this with clicking on the island name "Abaco" from the list on the right, instead of clicking directly on the island from the map. It zooms in and shows the details fine, but the glow that should be there is not.

The reason this problem is very perplexing for me, is that the onPress action of the list button in the right column calls the onPress function of the map button. So, theoretically they should do the EXACT same thing when pushed. But clearly they don't.

Here is the code for the button from the list on the right panel:

Code:
listAbaco_mc.onRollOver = function() {
_root.map_mc.abaco_mc.button_btn.onRollOver();
};

[Code]....

There is more code, for example rollOver, rollOut, and Press actions for the other island buttons, but they are all of the exact same format as the Abaco island button and they all have the same problem.

So, to recap, the problem is that the list button in the right panel do not function properly onPress, even though they are calling the onPress function of the island buttons directly, and the island button onPress function works perfectly. Strangely, all but one little thing works. So it's obviously getting to the correct functions and going through the code as planned, yet that one part about the glow is being ignored or otherwise messed up.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Buttons In An Array?

Feb 16, 2011

If I have a bunch of buttons in an array, each with an event listener, and a user clicks on one, how do I find out which the user clicked on?

[Code]...

The buttons appear on the stage, and I can click them. In buttonHandler, variable i always contains array size + 1 (in this case, 10). Since this is out of bounds, this doesn't work. I'm guessing it goes through the whole for loop first, and then starts adding event listeners with the newest i value, so this method doesn't work.

As for the function inside a function for the event listener, it's the only way i know how to pass parameters into functions from event listeners. I really don't want to not use an array because there are going to be a ton of buttons (well over 500).
