May 2, 2009I've been working on a banner for a website where I want to have wavy lines moving slowly in the background. I found a script that does exactly what I want and works great, the only problem is that the wavy lines the script is drawing are always on top of my buttons and images I'm using in the banners. What I need help with is getting them to display behind my buttons rather than on top of them. I have the actionscript on a separate layer from everything else, but regardless of the layer being above or below the content layer the lines still appear on top. How would I go about accomplishing what this? here is the code

Apr 19, 2009ive been looking everywhere for some sort of wavy line effect tutorial. I just want to make something appear to have a fluid wavelike motion. What I am trying to do is get a giant kelp that i drew in illustrator animated to make it look as if it were under water. What would be the best way to get look?

Oct 8, 2009using flash 8 AS2. I was thinking if it was possible to create a waving moving banner, with some flags of countries moving across it. much like the example below. Is it possible I will create a simple rectangular banner, then animate it in the timeline with flowing flags of a few countries from left to right. then i wonder if actionscript can create a wavy perspective banner that flows from the left to right in a loop or full stop from the movieclip timeline looping forever in it? The red arrow shows how the banner will animate towards the right from the left.

Apr 14, 2007i need to write AS 2.0 code for creating text effects like those we have in ms word clipart.. i dont need it to be all that complex though. what i need is to make the text pinched.. so that if there's a word, the ends of the word are more in height but in the middle, its slim then i need to make the text seem bloated.. which is exactly the opposite of pinched. then i also need the word to appear wavy.. as if the word is riding on a wave ya know.. then, i need the word to slant backwards and forwards i also need it to have a dropshadow but i found stuff by senocular on it. so i guess i'll manage that by the filters and all.

i need to ensure that the text doesnt get cut at the top when it goes out of bounds.i need to create a gradient with more variations. that is, right now its going from 0x000080 to 0x0000FF to 0x000080. so i need to make it go like: 0x000080 - 0x0000FF - 0x000080 - 0x0000FF - 0x000080.i need to be able to vary the size of the gradient box so that it perfectly fits the movieclip that i apply it tohow do i do it? could anyone please make those changes and attach the file back? or just tell me how to do it?
ActionScript 3.0 :: Drawing Animation On Path Out Of String
Aug 19, 2010We need to make kind of a path animation out of a string (curved lines) drawing. The designer provided me with this: [URL]. We need a revealing (growing) type of animation that generates from the right, follows every corner and ends up in the left with that giant piece of "mop". Is there a way to do this professionally? Tried the old frame by frame masking, but it looks odd. Shouldn't be some AS3 libraries that just work with paths or that draw paths?

In that case, all the matches for that word point only to the index for the first occurrence of that word. For example, if the text is "cat dog cat cat cow" and the pattern is a search for cat*, the match method returns an array of three occurrences of "cat", however, they all point to only the index of the first occurrence of cat when i use indexOf on a loop through the array. I'm assuming this is just how the string.match method is. I want to find the specific indices of every occurrence of a match, even if it is of a word that was already previously matched.

But I keep getting an "Error #2030: End of file was encountered." This is (probably) because the class I'm serializing is too big for the "String" object type in AS3. Is there a limitless object for storing an array of characters (or better yet binary), or am I going to have to make my own class? (like one with an array of strings)

For example, giving them a "csv" button to click and it might present them with a save file dialog (and I would be sending the contents of my string variable).Is this possible / how ?I am using the ResuableFX component for the datagrid to csv. Apr 7, 2011Im playing around with the last.fm api... Specifically the "getLovedtracks" call.... [URL] This is a weird one that I have never come across... The above call requires a username to return a track listing so if I hard code the username into my class like this.... var username:string = "aidanmack" No problems the call works... if I make that username equal to a dynamic text box string that has "aidanamck" typed into it..
so something like... var username:string = mystage.textbox.text
the last.fm api wont except this... I get user does not exist But if I check the call with the charles proxy Flash is defo sending the username "aidanmack" So I wonder if its to do with have how last.fms api interprets the string?

The problem is when asp (probably php too) reads this string, it reads it like this

Now this sucks, is there a way to encrypt my flash string so asp will read the string corectly? I know asp is url encoding the flash string, but this bit of info does not seem to help.

Jun 6, 2003I have a very general requirement that seemed very simple: Step 1: Load a new external JPEG image into a MC with a string var encoding a string caption in the URL link (VALUE="../fadeTest.swf?someTextVar=TestCaption") within the EMBED / OBJECT sections. I know how to do this and it semed to work fine. STEP2: When the JPEG is loaded I would like the substituted Text to Fade In over the JPEG. The JPEG should also fade in before the Text. The fade rate should be programmable.

Dec 2, 2011I have an Object which stores pairs for a find and replace that I perform on up to 1500 Strings at a time.The Object is populated with pairs using a method that will accept a String and then store this as a property with the value being an automatically assigned base 36 number, like this:[code]nextShort returns an automatically incremented value being the subject of .toString(36), so running the above a few times might make _pairs look like this:[cod]ehowever in my mind I foresee a massive problem in a case where I might want to "shorten" 2000+ Strings and the _pairs Object has at the same time has over 500 pairs.That ends up being 1,000,000 iterations all up which obviously doesn't seem very efficient at all.
