ActionScript 3.0 :: Drawing Animation On Path Out Of String
Aug 19, 2010
We need to make kind of a path animation out of a string (curved lines) drawing. The designer provided me with this: [URL]. We need a revealing (growing) type of animation that generates from the right, follows every corner and ends up in the left with that giant piece of "mop". Is there a way to do this professionally? Tried the old frame by frame masking, but it looks odd. Shouldn't be some AS3 libraries that just work with paths or that draw paths?
Wondering if any of you have any experience with the title. I just want a dot or an object to follow the path drawn by my mouse at a predetermined length.
I want to have a flash animation on my site.When I insert a "http:..." adress in the field "Data" and "Value" in the code, its completly okay.But when I insert a "~/PATHHERE/FILEHERE.swf" in this fields, it don't function.[code]
The game involves HP (health points) and i made it decrease everytime i am hit by a bullet. The problem is: How can i draw the Health points (a string) on screen?
i am wondering if it is possible to draw a path with the Graphics class, and then let an object follow that path as it's animation. example to make it more understandable: i have a movieclip on the screen, and as soon as a user cliks it and moves the mouse a path will be drawn. as soon as the user lifts its mouse the ball will follow te path at a certain speed that the user just made. i searched through the API and this board, but couldn't find any as3 solution.
I'm trying pause a video netstream within a MovieClip with a button (ppBtn). This works when I hardcode the movieclip path (like: etc. media2.ns.togglePause() ), but when I use a string in the path to access the MC's netstream it doesn't work. I've tried serveral ways to cast the string to a movieclip.name but I always trace a "null" or "undefined" of the mcpathI've tried to cast the string as a MC in different ways without any luck:
this[myString] MovieClip(myString) mySting as MovieClip()
I have a string that is similar to a path, but I have tried some regex patterns that are supposed to parse paths and they don't quite work.
Here's the string f|MyApparel/Templates/Events/ I need the "name parts" between the slashes. I tried (w+) but the array came back [0] = "f" and [1] = "f". I tested the pattern on [URL] and it seems to work correctly.
Here's the AS code: var pattern : RegExp = /(w+)/g; var hierarchy : Array = pattern.exec(params.category_id); params.name = hierarchy.pop() as String;
is it possible to do this? And if so how? the xml is converted to an Object using XLEFF; there are five nodes en the specified path: var path:String = "mCb.mXMLloaderObj.dm.lang[0].menu[0].node.length"; trace(path) this will offcourse output just the path as a string. But I want to trace something like: trace(Object(path)); and hopefully get the number 5, which represents how many nodes there are in the specified path in the Object. Is this possibly? Because I can't find anyway to do this
I've got a problem with a function i'm using to dynamically move movieclips around - its like this at the mo:
function wjump(number) { _root.content.aboutus.webwizard.targetY = startPos[number]; }
where startPos is an array with numbers.
I want it to be like this:
function jump(target, number) { target.targetY = startPos[number]; }
so any clip can be moved as long as it has a targetY variable. But it won't work for some reason. Is there some sort of special syntax i should use like [] brackets? I tried this around the target in function body but it did not work.
I am simply trying to move symbols around on my Stage, and each time I move one, the "path" is recorded and the object flows on that path when I scrub or play back.
All I would simply like to do is reposition images and symbols with out the movement and animation.
I have an SWF that has a var that is a string called fullpath. Now, if fullpath was "game.item1", How would I evaluate it as _level0.game.item1 in brackets [] rather than _level0.game.item1.Basically, how would I evaluate an item path from a string with brackets []? This is AS 2
This should be fairly simple but I understand why it doesn't work. I am hoping there is a clever way to do the following: I have a string 'movieclip1.movieclip2' I have a container movieclip - Container. Now to evaluate the string normally I would look something like: this.container['movieclip']['movieclip2']
Because clip2 is a child of movieclip. But I would like to parse or evaluate the string with the dot syntax to read the string as a internal path. this.container[evaluatedpath]; // which is - this.container.movieclip.movieclip2 Is there a function or technique to be able to evaluate that string into an internal path?
bit of a noob at flash, so I've been having a bit of a difficulty in using the pencil/brush tool in drawing an animation. I set a keyframe, and paint a yellow stroke. Then i continue onto the next key. I then go back to the first keyframe, and want to paint a black stroke over part of the yellow stroke i made earlier.
after selecting this first frame (making the layer active), I go to change the stroke color of the brush to black but find that it now changes my yellow stroke (which I want to keep yellow) to black. I see that in selecting the frame, by default whatever strokes were made on this frame are also selected (which I don't want). So I'd like to know how do I avoid altering my previous stroke and still put a different colored stroke overlapping it on the same frame?
also is it possible to append a brush/pencil stroke to an old brush/pencil stroke?
I am working on Drawing API. There is a movieclip on stage which I am animating using Tween class. I just want to draw a line from the initial position of a the movieclip to it's final position. I can draw line, but I can see the lines being duplicated each time the enterframe runs. I just want a single line do be drawn from the movieclip's initial position to it's final position.
Here is my code
Code: import mx.transitions.Tween; import mx.transitions.easing.*; var myTween:Tween = new Tween(circ0_mc, "_x", Strong.easeOut, circ0_mc._x, 0, 2,
There is a pretty good class created by senocular, is called "Path"; basically it allow you to create paths and also create animations using those (like when you use the old good guides on flash).
To create an animation you just ask for a position using a number between 0 and 1. So just using some setInterval is easy to create the animation using a dinamically created path as a guide. The Problem is: How it creates the animation in curves; because is not doing it like flash does it; it basically does something like this
The solution should be straight forward but I cannot find it, my problem it's that I'm reading a xml, and one of the properties inside the xml it's a Bitmap path(string), when I`m reading this xml I would like to convert this string to a Bitmap Obj so I can use through my MXMLs.
I am making a flash app where I want to have a user defined viewport like the stage in the flash IDE which the user can use to define objects that have a starting postition somerwhere off or on the stage and an ending position either or on or off the stage with the object then tweening between the two points. My question is this: I want the user to be able to define a curved path for the object to tween along. Is there a library of code that I can use to define curved paths for the app?
Ideally I would like something similar to the functionality available in Flash, so a bezier curve sort of path that is subdivided into handles that can be dragged to define the path of the tween. If there isn't an existing library, then do you know of the functions that I would need to define (mathematical equations related to drawing curves etc)?
I have a lizard movie clip that contains a bunch of moving parts. I have placed this clip on the stage and then did a motion tween along a path. The clip moves along the path but you can't see any of the parts moving.
I am trying to pass FlashVars into public class EventDispatcher to set the path to data.xml. I need it because the name and path of the xml file will be dynamically created. I need to use Flashvar in order to access the correct path.I was able to pass Flashvar from html page on timeline this way:
Actionscript Code: var Flashvars:String = LoaderInfo(stage.loaderInfo).parameters.xmlfile;
Then, I was able to use it with new UrlRequest;
Actionscript Code: var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest(Flashvars);
This method works really good, but this solution only works on timeline.I need to implement this technique in the class. Before I setup a static var for with the path to xml file. I'd like to be able to get FlashVar withing this class and assign this string to 'public static var DATA_XML_URL:String' I have there. This way I can pass Flashwar to the project I already have.

Currently I am working on a map that will animate the drawing of a line between two points as soon as the user hovers over the end point. A good example of this can be seen on the home page of Jet2.com (the map of Europe).
It seems I am having difficulty with drawing the line dynamically. Of course, just drawing a still line between two points is easy, just use MoveTo() and LineTo(). However, having the line expand in an animation is quite difficult for me.
Here is what I've come up with so far:
Code: // Create the clip this.createEmptyMovieClip("drawing_mc",1); // Declare variables
I am looking to create the appearance of a shape being drawn. I need a few shapes, but for the example think of a simple U. I have tried several different approaches. First, I tried a shape tween at 45 degree increments. That was a wrong approach. Then I tried using After Effects, but the movies lacked flexibility and were laggy. Currently I am building the shapes using two shape tween MCs(an arc that goes 11.25 degrees and a line that goes 21px), and repeating it.
This seems to be working, but is very tedious, and lacks flexibility. i.e. if I decided I want the shape just a bit shorter I have to remove the MC incident from every frame. Also I have no possiblity of changing the speed without completely rebuilding the shape becasue I'm doing a frame by frame animation.
So I've created a script where a mc is clicked on and the player can draw a path using the mouse. I'm trying to figure out how I can get the mc to follow the path drawn out by the player's mouse and when the player clicks again, it erases all of the path.my code is below
I am a total Drawing API newb and I am trying to figure out if there is a way to do what would look like a piece of string (not straight) and make it attach to 2 different movieclips. All i can seem to figure out is how to draw a straight line and I can't get it to attach to anything.
