ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash8 Wavy Banner Movie Clip

using flash 8 AS2. I was thinking if it was possible to create a waving moving banner, with some flags of countries moving across it. much like the example below. Is it possible I will create a simple rectangular banner, then animate it in the timeline with flowing flags of a few countries from left to right. then i wonder if actionscript can create a wavy perspective banner that flows from the left to right in a loop or full stop from the movieclip timeline looping forever in it? The red arrow shows how the banner will animate towards the right from the left.

Flash8 :: Playing Movie Clip?

I have very annoying and easy (I believe) problem with Macromedia Flash 8. My movie consists of 10 scenes. I wanted them to be played each after another (e.g. scene 1, scene 2, etc.).However, the scenes that consist of movie clips are just flashing and movie proceed to next scene. There is no problem with scenes that where done just in main timeline. I tried to put some action script on these movie clips like:

It basicly loads some pictures into movie clip holders and they stream horizontally across the bottom of a page.My problem is i cannot get them to continuously loop, at the moment they just cross the screen once then stop.

I am having the hardest time trying to get AS to play from within a MC called "content_002".Please remember that this AS is an XML-Driven sub-menu that successfully works on it's own. When I tie it into a MC, it doesn't like to work with my shifting main-menu.

For this post, I'll first send the "combined" .fla file then I will post them apart to see if anyone can find a better way.

I am trying to add x amount of movieclips to the stage with their own unique _x value. Also with each movie clip added i need to add an array with a smiler name. I tried this code.

under the attachmovie I have ["enemy"+1] but when i trace enemy1 it returns undefined. But when I put ["enemy"+1] it returns the _x value. also if I put _x: i * 5, I only see one movie clip so I have a feeling they all have the same _x and_y value. basically I wanna be able to add 2 enemys to the stage with out over lapping, and the option to add 50 with out too much over lapping (would like to avoid overlapping by also giving various y depths, between 200 and 250)

I have been having some trouble with a movie clip basically designed to act as a button for a store front for a website.This movie clip has, stored as the front of the movie (i.e. before you click in to edit the movie) the following code:

on(rollOver){
gotoAndPlay("Over");

This gives the movie the hover over and out effect and animates the button so as once pressed the button expands to give a 'Product Details' view.However, when clicked the info shows up as it should but the hit area which I put into the Movie Clip is still on the info area so none of the contents on this new window are accessible and when the cursor leaves the designated info area the movie clip returns to its first stage as it would appear at the start of the animation.Is there any simple way to disable the HitArea on specific frames within a Movie Clip?

Flash8 :: "attach" Movie Clip To Another Movie Clip

Im making a game where you have a little dude you're walking around with using the arrow keyes. Now i have certain underwater scenes and here i thought it would be nice to add a little movie clip of air bubbles coming out of the dudes mouth.

So i have the movie clip with the animated bubbles laying in the same frame as the scene (where the dude will walk around). Im looking for a script that makes it so that as soon you enter the scene the "bubbles" movieclip will "attach" itself to the "man" movieclip. (Or atleast follow it around)

I dont want to modify the man clip itself with bubbles since then the bubbles will interfere with some hittest i have (and just want the bubbles to be aesthetic)

I am trying to create a movie clip that loops and on each loop it loads a random little .jpg banner from a directory. The banners are named 0.jpg, 1.jpg and so on, a script on the first frame of the loop saying

"bannernumber" is a variable from an external text file specifying how many random numbers to cycle through (how many banners), This works just fine and loads up a new banner after each loop cycle. The problem lies in trying to make each banner go to its own url, I have another external text document with variables "click0=url, click1=url etc" where I want the number in each variable to equal the randomnumber variable in flash, then use an on(release){getURL(urlvariable)} function to have it retrieve the url that is somehow in the url variable. Basically, how would I make the urlvariable be equal to the "click0" variable to get the url of the click0 variable into the getURL function? while having the number in the "click0" variable be equal to the randomnum variable?

I have to make a banner ad for my company's website that is 4 frames. It needs to play each frame about 3-4 seconds and then loop after 4th frame and continuously do so. It needs to begin this process when the web page is brought up without the user doing anything to it (so no clicking)And I have to keep it under 40k.I've found alot of tutorials for using external swf files and images but everything seems to use a button and I can't seem to get the coding down at all.

I am working on a project which there are two .swf file play side by side simultaneously. I need to use one of the file to control the animation in another file.

If they are in same .swf it should be easy. I can just use:

gotoAndPlay("frameNumber")

but there are two .swf now. (lets say movieA and movieB) I think I should use something like:

"LinkToMovieB".gotoAndPlay("frameNumber")

"LinkToMovieB" should be the link to movie clip in the movieB file.

my problem is how do I get the link to movie B's movie clip. or there is other proper way to do this task.

I've been working on a banner for a website where I want to have wavy lines moving slowly in the background. I found a script that does exactly what I want and works great, the only problem is that the wavy lines the script is drawing are always on top of my buttons and images I'm using in the banners. What I need help with is getting them to display behind my buttons rather than on top of them. I have the actionscript on a separate layer from everything else, but regardless of the layer being above or below the content layer the lines still appear on top. How would I go about accomplishing what this? here is the code

i need to write AS 2.0 code for creating text effects like those we have in ms word clipart.. i dont need it to be all that complex though. what i need is to make the text pinched.. so that if there's a word, the ends of the word are more in height but in the middle, its slim then i need to make the text seem bloated.. which is exactly the opposite of pinched. then i also need the word to appear wavy.. as if the word is riding on a wave ya know.. then, i need the word to slant backwards and forwards i also need it to have a dropshadow but i found stuff by senocular on it. so i guess i'll manage that by the filters and all.

i am trying to make my text appear wavy using displacement maps. i've attached the file. Please check it out and tell me how to do the following three things with it:

i need to ensure that the text doesnt get cut at the top when it goes out of bounds.i need to create a gradient with more variations. that is, right now its going from 0x000080 to 0x0000FF to 0x000080. so i need to make it go like: 0x000080 - 0x0000FF - 0x000080 - 0x0000FF - 0x000080.i need to be able to vary the size of the gradient box so that it perfectly fits the movieclip that i apply it tohow do i do it? could anyone please make those changes and attach the file back? or just tell me how to do it?

The order of events are this. From the main stage I load a movie clip (movie clip 1), within that movie clip I have a button that loads another movie clip (movie clip 2) and also starts a timer that will automatically unload movie clip 2 . Within movie clip 2 I would like to create a button that stops the timer on movie clip 1 and starts it again.

I need to stop a function in movie clip 1 from movie clip 2 and then start that same function on movie clip 1 from movie clip 2.

I'm using a square shaped container (content_holder) to load movie clips which have a lot of animations spilling off the stage.In my container I have a mask which fixes this so all you see is the content within the square.PROBLEM: The width and height of content_holder is not accurate, as it also counts the overflowing animation which is MASKED. As a result this messes with my ability to center and manipulate the clip because its width/height is constantly changing.

QUESTION: Is there a simple way to load a movieclip into a container and LOCK its dimensions to a specific size? So the width is always fixed to the container's OR prevent the masked content from adding to the clip's width & height values?

I'm creating a small drag & drop activity, and I want to be able to check and see if the dragged movie clip is completely within the bounds of another movie clip (or at least in the bounds of a certain x/y zone on the main stage. I can't use dropTest because it returns true if any tiny bit of the movie clip overlaps with the dropTest movie clip.

I also thought of something that just checks the x/y coordinates of the dragged movie clip, but I'd need this to reflect a range of values rather than one coordinate. For instance, I'd want to return true if the movie clip's x is between 50-60 AND the y is between 50-60. I'm attaching a small graphic to illustrate in case my explanation isn't clear enough [URL]

ActionScript 3.0 :: MCs Classes - Can't Send An Event From The Eagle Movie Clip Or The T2D Movie Clip To Tell The Other To Fade Out

There is a bad gap in my knowledge with Event Dispatch and Event architecture, and this problem proves it. I've been getting nowhere on this problem for two days, I've posted everything to my Flash site. Go here, please: [URL] Click on "Flash Banners" The two thumbnails represent two different classes. Each class is identical. Both are "extends Movie Clip" classes. Tweeners of various types control the hover and click methods. URL Loaders load the thumnails which I then wrap in MC's and make them buttonMode = true, etc. Hover and click to load the Banners on the thumbnails.

I can't send an event from the Eagle movie clip or the T2D movie clip to tell the other to fade out. Both Banner classes are instantiated through a separate Base class. I'm sure this has to be an Event Dispatch from one MC to another and that it can't be done by the Base class. how I can send an Event or Event Dispatch and what the code structure is so one movie clip can in one class can tell the other movie clip in the other class to disappear while it's neighbour is playing. I'm happy to post code or explain / clarify anything that's not clear.

I've got a main timeline .swf file called "blank.swf" which contains nothing but two blank movie clips one called called "pproduct", the other called "ppalette". In the script frame of this main timeline I use the simple "Loader = new Loader();" method to load a URL of an .swf file into the "ppalette" movie clip. The "ppalette" movie clip contains several color chip buttons, each of which use the same Loader method above to load an external .swf into a clip. Here's what I want to do: let those color chip buttons, when the "blank.swf" file loads, be used to load an .swf movie into the "pproduct" clip on the main timeline. I'm wanting to be able to swap depths with various movie clips which will take out the movie which has the palette, but I want whatever that palette has loaded in the original "pproduct" clip to stay there.
