ActionScript 2.0 :: CS3 - Redirect Combo Box Items To An External Website?
Mar 19, 2009
I have created a combo Box in Flash CS3 and want to redirect the items to differnt website.: In combo box I have given several options like USA, CANADA, UK, Japan, France etc. Now I want the selected item to be redirect to that specific page when I click the go button beside the combo box. suppose, I choose USA, I want the combo box to redirect me to the page specified in the parameter in USA.. Secondly, Also I wish to create a cookie Checkbox so that the next time visitors log in they should be automatically sent to the previously selected page.
if there was any way to specify the different items in a combo box, i wanted it to go to a different part of the site when u click on it heres what i have now (notice the combobox at bottom left)combo
I've two Combo Box(CB). First CB contain 4 items(drop-down menus) and the 2nd CB contain 12 items. I want that when I select one of the items from Combo Box1, then only 4 out of 12 items from Combo Box2 should be visible. So actually I want first combo Box to act as filter. Could this be done using the AS3 code.
I've got a combo box adding items from an array. The labels are working just fine, but adding the data with a variable won't work for me. If I put in an actual number, I get that result, but trying to add it with a variable I always get 1 as a result. classData only ever = 1. I can access the array. I know it must be in the syntax.[code]
Im new to building site and started using flash cs4. I need to know please what actions i need to redirect my intro to my website within the same browser. Im using flash cs4 i have created my into and now im ready to bring it into my site and have it take me to my index page once the intro is done.
I have a flash heavy website. I also have a PDF version of the information on the website. I want to add determine the browser (or platform) requesting the site and if it is a mobile device (or flash unsupported devide, i.e. iPhone or iPad) redirect the user to the PDF.
lets say you have a whole website written in classes, and you have some items in the library as well (maybe some buttons, a picture for a background and so on...)what to do with all these simbols?leave them in the library, give them all a class name, and when the website loads access them like that, or pull them out on the stage, not neccessarily in the visible area, and not neccessarily on the first keyframe.
The problem I'm having is trying to figure out a way so that the "data2" will fill the text field "hint_txt" on ROLL_OVER of that items name in the list.I've tried to placing an event listener into the function that populates the combo box .this populates the combo box label and data with the Loaded XML File. This works
function changeHandler(ev:Event):void { menuText_mc.heading1_txt.text = ev.currentTarget.selectedItem.label;[code]......
I have two combo boxes. The first combo box's data is added through an XMLConnector object, the second combo box, I would like to populate through an on (change) event in the first combo box. The items in the second combo box would relate to the selection made in the first combo box.
I have attempted the following within the Actions for the first combo box:
on(change) { switch(this.value) { case "value1": comboBox2.addItem({Label:"Label",Data:"Data"}); break; } // end switch } // end event
which is not working.
should an event be dispatched by comboBox1 and a listener be attached to comboBox2? I can't find any examples of this on the internet.. but i might be using the wrong search terms.
I've been working with/around and dodging a situation where I'm trying to access FLA library movieclip assets, but NOT from the document class. I capitalize this because this is my 4th forum posting. I know the answer to that one:
instanceName:ClassName = new ClassName();
The easiest solution for accessing library items from a SubClass looks to be this:
// at topimport TestLocalMC;// in constructorvar box:TestLocalMC = new TestLocalMC();addChild(box);
However, it doesn't show up. I tried a fake non-existent class. It gave me an error so I know it's referencing a Class in the library that I supplied. If I trace the object, it shows up. If I trace the X value, it says 0. So logically, it should be right in front of me..but it's not there! .Am I on the right track? Is this familiar at all to anybody? Is there something I'm missing?
if I could reference FLA library items with a bit of freedom from the document class. Having to go up the hierarchical class tree everytime to retrieve a movieclip is getting rather painful.
I am attempting to load text from an external .txt file into dynamic text fields using AS2When you click on a button (named forward and back), I want the next &-denoted "news" item to repopulate the current dynamic text boxes to replace the first bit of info.This is what I have so far, but I'm stumped. I used the trace to make sure the button is "clicking" (it is), but I can't get the integer to go up a number and repopulat the fields.
var newsData:LoadVars = new LoadVars(); newsData.load("data.txt"); newsData.timeline = this;
I am quite a rookie when it comes to action script soI made myself an advert from using some video and the filesize is obviously quite large (1mb). The problem is that the sitewhere the advert is to go only accepts file sizes up to 50kb. My plan is therefore to make a smaller version of the advertwhich just displays the company logo, but then loads the other .swffile from my website.Firstly is this possible....... and second how do I do itspell it out really simply as I always seem to get lost inall the gargon. I have been researching it a lot and the problem isthere seems to be a million different ways to do, but I haven't had
I have a web banner inside a website, I want to when i click this banner, to open up a external swf on top of the website.So not inside the banner but somewhere else on the side.For example when i click the web banner, a bird flies across the website.So the swf has transparent background. Then in a few seconds the external file unloads.
Say I load a movie clip "ball.swf", and I attach it to the scene. But then I change root frames, and need to reattach it (I DON'T WANT IT TO REDOWNLOAD!) and it needs to be external,Will the browser cache it, so it doesn't have to be redownloaded, when you call it to be attached?
So, I have to make a link to an external URL on a flash website, but I want it to appear in my flash website. So like the top banner of my flash website appears on top of the external link so that way users can just click on a link on my top banner and go back to my home page of the site.
I'm creating a website for a cabin and I want the users to be able to view a calendar that exists on the reservations website. The calendar is constantly updating as people are reserving cabins. I want this calendar to dynamically load from the external server onto my website for people to view. Then once they view it - I want to remove it on the next mouse click. Right now it stays and ends up on every page in the website. I think it should be easy and I have some sort of misunderstanding of how to do it. I have literally spent days trying to get this stupid thing to work. It's driving me crazy!!! Here's what I have right now.
I want one animation of a content area but i want the menu to run the animation and put in a certain .swf so i can have something like:when u click a button that is suposed to goto Home then it plays a MC that has Home as an external .swf loaded into it and when i click another link like Portfolio it starts that MC over but with Portfolio as an external .swf in it
I am trying to link some text to an external web site. I am using the following code, but whenever I try to launch the external web site, I get prompted by Adobe Flash Player Security saying that it has stopped a potentially unsafe operation. It then tells me that I need to change my security settings in order to view the website. I am wondering if there is any way around stopping the security check, or is this built into Flash?
var linkLaunch:URLRequest = new URLRequest('content/web/fuel/project/home.html'); navigateToURL(linkLaunch);
I have a project underway where I am making an interactive game. It is a personal character creator game and I need Actionscript 3 help with this.Something similar here:http:[url].... I have tried already with toggling visibility and 'gotoAndStop()' to make items appear over other items when the corresponding button is pressed, for example, when the user tries out different pants/shirts on their character.
I'm creating a facebook application in flex. I'm actually working on the friends component that shows your friends who are using the application. now, each friend has a profile image.
I created the component using a s:List element.
In the Skin Class of the element i configured the requestedColumnCount to 3, which means it shows 3 friends. i added buttons to scroll left and right in the list.
Whenever I scroll to see a different friend, for a half of a second i see no image because the List component is loading the image in order to view it.
is there a way to make the list preload all the elements so i won't have this kind of problem ?
im having some dificulties in the combobox of Flex 3, after defining the dataProvider and filling the combobox, how can i remove the items in the combobox later (without removing items in the dataprovider)? if i set the provider to "" or null, the items in the combobox are still there
I am a complete novice when it comes to flash and web design in general. I have purchased a flash template [URL] which I have been able to customise to my liking for a small production company. I am now completely stuck when it comes to integrating videos within the site.
I understand that I need to have an Xml playlist and some action script that references the videos to the player, but I have no clue on what to do.
I am looking to have a video begin as soon as the site loads and then have the buttons on the orange bar allow the user to navigate between other flv files. I would possibly be interested in including firther links on the video samples page.
From my flash file I need to make a call to an external link, and retrieve a value which is either "true" or "false".This website will display either:<resp>false</resp> or <resp>true</resp>I have no influence on the external link - so I can't add anything to that file.Depending on the returned value, I want to do something simple like:
I was working through your XML Carousel AS2 tutorial, and I was wondering how you use Actionscript to get a URL and navigate to an external website when you click on an icon? Or anything really, it would be a useful thing to do for a button or whatever.
