View 2 Replieswhat it has to do is to generate "j" buttons (j being the number of registrations from my database) and arrange them in rows of 5 or 6. unfortunately the buttons are generated but are not arranged properly. i have 9 registrations in the database so there are 9 buttons... the first 8 are next to each other and the last one is somewhere to the right.further on, at the release of a button it should create the lwLogo movieclip and load there a certain pic (the path being taken from my database). then the lwLogo mc should be centered on the screen... as this doesn't happen in the _root the center of the screen would be -442 in this movie clip so normally to center the image i should place lwLogo at -442-(lwLogo._width/2) but this doesn't work. the photos are loaded but not in the center.[code]
View 3 RepliesI have downloaded this slideshow but cannot for the life of me figure out how to center the images. The slideshow calls the images from an XML.I have edited the width of the slide show just fine but the images are still justified to the left.
View 7 RepliesI am using ActionScript 3 in Flash to load images into a UILoader. There is a bay of thumbnail images, which are all movie clips. When one of these movie clips is clicked, AS3 calls a larger image to display in the UILoader. All of these images are narrower than the UILoader, some very much so, and they all have different widths for the most part.I would very much like for these images to be centered within the UILoader and (obviously) am unsure of how to go about doing it. If it would be possible for them to be both horizontally and vertically centered, that would be ideal, as they are also of varying heights.
View 3 Repliesive just butchered myself a gallery together which loads different xml documents (with image references in them) into an empty movie clip on the main stage-however- the images are all different sizes, and I cant seem to modify the script so that they will center correctly- i know I need to preload them in order to get the correct size for each image and then reload and display so that the x and y coordinates are correct-im using this script from kirupa's xml gallery tutorial- each different section of the gallery has this script attatched to the button that displays it-but im really stuck as to where to add a loop to ***** the images.- my brain hurtsI
on (release) {
function loadXML(loaded) {
if (loaded) {
[code].....
I got this far with my images display. I found code and it was able to work, but I'm not savvy enough with the code to unload images.I have 'searched' thru kirupa to see if someone had something similar. Found other 'centering images' type .fla's, but can't connect them to mine.I don't want to change the navigation or the way I have it set up -- I need it scripted frame-by-frame as it is. I was hoping someone knows how to get the images to 'unload' as you press each button.
View 1 RepliesI would like to call up images from myXML and I would like to center them on the stage. Each object is a different size therefore I can't place them to a set _x position. Hopefully someone may have the answer.... here's the function that will call up the firstimage:
function firstImage() {
if (loaded == filesize) {
var myHoriTween:Tween = new Tween(content_mc, "_x", normal, 0, 480, .75, true);
content_mc.loadMovie(image[0]+".jpg", 1);
content_mc_num();
}
The highlighted '480' is the number i would like to replace to center. I'm not being to vague with this request, otherwise i'll offer more information.
I only recently switched to AS3 from 2 and I'm sure there are concepts. When I load a grid of images and scale and center them, why does this work locally but not when I upload it to a server? These images do not scale or center online, they just position themselves at top left at full size. Here's the portion of my code that centers the image when loading of image is 'done.'
ActionScript Code:
function thdone(e:Event):void {
if(e.currentTarget.width > e.currentTarget.height){
scaleFactor = (120/e.currentTarget.height);
} else {
scaleFactor = (120/e.currentTarget.width);
[Code] .....
i have both vertical and horizontal pictures... The horizontal pictures work great! But what code and where would I add it if I wanted to tell Flash to center the vertical photos in the large gallery.
View 1 RepliesI have created this Flash site: [URL] But i am having a problem. Under "Gallery", each picture, is a movieclip, which loads a picture from my server. But the pictures aligns to the top left corner of the MovieClip. How do i make them align to the center of the movieclip?

I have an index.swf that it's dimensions are 1020x610, now when I load content in a container in the index.swf it will be centered using an onResize stage listener, that works fine but only if the loaded content is 1020x610, I've also used an onEnterFrame that checks if the width and height are !=0 so that way it waits for it to load before centering the content.
What should I do to always keep my content centered. Lets say I want to load a swf that is smaller (ie the 1st frame only contains 1 element that is smaller than the stage dimensions) I'm not sure if I'm explaining this well....
i am trying to get an empty movieclip to center after a jpg loads into it. the images load, but they don't center. my first attempt (using loadMovie) would read the size too quickly and would only center after a second click. i thought using a MovieClipLoader would work, but my leftEdge always returns 350. i'm getting a 0 value for _width.
on a related topic, i want to apply a DropShadowFilter to the same empty movieclip.i haven't tried it with the MovieClipLoader, but it didn't work using loadMovie. any ideas on that? if i have to, i can create a generic dropshadow and position and scale it accordingly, but again, i will need to be able to read the size and position of the empty movieclip.
Code:
var mcl:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
var mclListener:Object = new Object();[code]...
I'm trying to center a dynamically loaded jpeg to the stage. The jpegs are loaded via xml to a movie clip called 'picture'. I have the code below which works fine on my computer, however, when trying it on a live server I sometimes get a problem where instead of centering the image, the image ends up with its left edge aligned to the center - which suggests that the code didnt get the image width properly. This only happens sometimes, not all the time so must be something to do with how its loading.(code is partly based on xml slideshow found on here somewhere)
Code:
this.onEnterFrame = function() {
filesize = picture.getBytesTotal();
loaded = picture.getBytesLoaded();[code].....
I am needing to load an external image (probably jpg) into a movie. I am using an empty movie clip, giving it an instance name and the code:
Code:
instance1.loadMovie("image.jpg");
What I also need to do is be able to either place that image in a specific location on the stage or just center it. Any advice you can give me on that?
I am attempting to do something like this: Use two movie clips. One is a holder that contains the second movie clip, which is where the image is actually being loaded. Then, I am using the following math:
Code:
instance1.isntance2.x - instance1._width/2 instance1.isntance2.y - instance1._width/2
Does this look like it would work? Is there anyway I can set instance1 to have a width that is equal to the size of the main movie (1024 x 768)?
I have a folder containing some images named 01_image_name.jpg, 02_image_name.jpg, 03_image_name.jpg, ... wich I read with a PHP script. Then I loop loading each image and waiting until all are loaded to display them
View 5 RepliesI try to get 5 images loaded on one swf.downloading the first one works:[code]from here the fallowing images are loaded each time different.sometimes no images a shown, sometimes only one and the second one is in the left corner, sometime 3 from 5 images are loaded and placed and sometimes it works properly.[code]why doesn't each objet do its job : loading the image and placing it on the right place?

I am loading all images and text via xml. Everything works great on my machine, but when I load the .swf to the web, my images become choppy.
I've used AS2.0 to build my site. I have several .jpgs that I'm loading dynamically on my flash site from my server. For some reason only some of the .jpgs are loading pixelated. I've tried to look up solutions to this, but I'm not exactly sure where a quality=best or smoothing=true script should be placed. And I'm equally as puzzled as to why only some of my .jpgs are loading pixelated? This is very frustrating, this is the code I'm using to load my images:
loadMovie("Wave.jpg", _root.image_box_9);
I have a Gallery that loads thumbnails from an XML. I have added a pre-loader to each one of the thumbnails as it is being loaded from the XML. My problem is that I can't figure out how to remove the pre-loaders after it has called the Event.COMPLETE. With my curent code, As it completes loading the thumbnails, it throws an error and only removes the very last pre-loader. Thanks for any help you can provide.
Here is the code I am currently using.
var urlRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("images.xml");
var urlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();

I've put together an XML gallery with previous and next buttons which navigate through my images. I've applied an alpha tween so that images fade in and fade out. Locally this works perfectly but when uploaded to the server there are delays in the images loading which means that images are not fading in - they appear suddenly and abruptly. Although the images are not particularly heavy in terms of filesize, I do realise that download speeds will vary, but I'd like obviously for the live experience to be identical to the local experience i.e. smooth & predictable.
To explain the setup:-
I have a movieclip with instance name "cover_mc" which contains a UILoader with instance name "imageHolder".
My code:-
import caurina.transitions.*;
var lastImageIndex:int = 0;var imgArray:Array = [];
lowerNav_mc.btnPrev.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,

I have a folder containing some images named 01_image_name.jpg, 02_image_name.jpg, 03_image_name.jpg, ... wich names I read with a PHP script. Then I loop loading each image and waiting until all are loaded to display them
1. The PHP script reads file names and returns a string with names separated by a "|" char, then I use the split method to store them in imagesNames array and sort it2. I loop trough imagesNames array loading images3. Anytime a new image arrives I push it in imagesContainer array and check if all images are loaded to show them
The problem is there's no guarantee they arrive in the same order they were requested. So, how I sort the imagesContainer array by file name, i.e. in the same order they are in imagesNames array?
I was wondering if there was a way in Flash to preview externally loaded images in Flash while still working.I am loading images externally to keep the file size down on a piece of elearning but now I'm afraid maintenance will be a nightmare since you don't actually see the screens until you publish. I have interactions on the screens so I need to see them for their placement on screen.
View 5 RepliesI am trying out an AS2 xml image gallery from a tutorial online (code attached). I have also found out how to add a button to the stage that takes the SWF-movie into true full screen (code also attached).
But the problem is that the images from the xml are placing themselves above the button so that the button can't be seen or used. I would of course like to overlay the button on top of the loaded images.
I thought that putting the button on a new layer above the first layer with the AS2 xml image gallery code would do the trick, but it did not.
How can I specify that the button should be "always on top"?

View 1 RepliesHow would I scroll dynamicall loaded images. I would like to use XML but that not required.
View 0 RepliesI'm using a embeded variable in the source name of my .swf to define the where my swf is going to load the XML. And the XML tells my swf where to load the pictures.This works great - for a while. but after like 2-5 minutes it stops loading the images!(the movie is still running tho).I am using a fader-movieclip, and inside this movieclip in a specific frame I call for the "changePic();" function I created to change pictures. And when this movieclip is gonna run is told by a variable I call "InteractiveTimer".
When the timer<1, I play the movieclip, who after a few seconds plays the changePic(); function.So, anyone knows what's wrong? is it a browser-bug perhaps or server issues? (it's not happening when there is no more pictures, I've created a function to loop it. Everything works perfectly, but after a while it seems like it looses connection or smth :S )
EDIT: I'm using a Loader to load the images, when it's time for next picture I use:
myLoader.contentPath=myXML.firstChild.childNodes[i].childNodes[0]; i++;
that is what the fader-function is triggering ( changePic(); )
How do I turn that on with actionscript when I load several images in my flashmovie?
View 4 RepliesAs the title says. How do I add a stroke or outline to the images loaded by my XML? I need to create a hover state and selected state. So when I rollover my images there is a blue stroke that goes around the image. I created a new movieClip called newHover and I thought I could add it using my loaders mouseout and mouseover events but the loader class doesn't support do that.Maybe adding a movieClip that has the stroke isn't the way to work this. how to accomplish this.
ActionScript Code:
//floor color1
var cityPic:Dictionary = new Dictionary();

I have a grid with 17 columns and populating it with images through XML. I would like to scale the images on Mouse over. I can get this to work but the problem is that some of the images when scaled are below the surrounding images. I thought maybe setChildIndex, but perhaps I was not implementing it correctly.
View 1 RepliesI am importing an external JPG into my movie. I need to use that same JPG in 3 total places, all at different sizes. I also need to motion tween between the first instance of the image and the 2nd, as it moves and resizes to a smaller version. I have it working so I can fade in (on the timeline) my holder movieclip. BUT, when I try to either resize the holder movieclip, or change the mask for it, the image just disapears. Here is how I have the image coming in:
Code:
_root.content.holder1.createEmptyMovieClip("photo1", 1);
_root.content.holder1.photo1.loadMovie("imports/photo1.jpg");
