View 1 Repliesi'm trying to create a unordered list in Flex. My issue is that within each line, i want the word NEW to be a different font color and different font size from the rest of the label text. I am unsure of how to do this INLINE within the label component.
<s:VGroup fontSize="15" color="#ffffff">
<s:Label text="u2022 NEW Invite your friends!" />
<s:Label text="u2022 NEW Features coming soon!" />
<s:Label text="u2022 NEW Invite your friends!" />
</s:VGroup>
In my application, I allow the user to change the font of a text field. They use a combobox component to select the font. Can I change the font of each individual label in the combobox to match the font it is named? Like, Microsoft Word style.
View 2 RepliesI am working on a as3 project in which the user select a font from Combo Box and that font SWF should be loaded Dynamically and then i need to change the font of the Dynamic text field.
I have swf font files downloaded from [URL]
My question is that how can i load the font swf dynamically from server and add them to the library and how can i use that swf to change the font of dynamic text field.
if there are embedded fonts in library the i can access them using this- --
var fontList:Array = Font.enumerateFonts();
for( var i:int=0; i<fontList.length; i++ )
{
trace( "font: " + fontList[ i ].fontName );
}
But How to use dynamically loaded Font swf as a font type.
I need to present chemical formulas with subscripts and superscripts in a dynamic text box. To do this, I've downloaded and embedded the GG Subscript and GG Superscript fonts, created a dynamic text box with Arial as the font, and added ActionScript code to change the font when I need subscripts and superscripts. the following is a simplified version of my code.
[Code].....
I get a compiler error 1119 Access of possibly undefined property html through a reference with static flash.text:TextField. The text box is a dynamic text box, not static, so I'm puzzled.I don't get this error with the GG Subscript code above.
I load a text from an xml file which has a code like this:
<xml>

[code]..........
When i change the font size and font color i get the result i want.But when i try to change the font-family, or to make a part of text in italics or bold i fail to get what i want.I also tried this:
my textwith no success
We have a TextArea that is created dynamically reading in XML data with the textFormat set to Arial font as the default. When we publish it the font tag for a subscript and superscript fonts is not displaying even though we have embedded the fonts. It displays
properly if the font is installed.
I have been using both a tutorial and a post I found on here regarding changing the fonts on the list component.
I put a list componenet on my stage and named it: myFlashList
I set up the font to embed and set up the linkage as described.
Here is my code thus far:
import flash.text.TextFormat;
import fl.managers.StyleManager
import fl.controls.List
var stencilReg:Font = new stencilReg();
[Code]....
what the default label font that flash uses when you add a component? Ive searched around Im trying ti match it as it looks much better than other fonts?
View 3 RepliesI am working on a component class, that will allow the developer to set the label and font of the label in the Flash CS5 IDE.The problem I'm having is that when I try to use the TextFormat class to set the font and size etc. It doesn't appear. If I remove embedFonts = true then it doesn't use the format at all and just prints my text in the Times New Roman font instead. Here is my code:
frmt = new TextFormat();
frmt.font = FontName;
frmt.size = labelSize;[code]....
I have a list component in my flash movie, and I managed to change the look of it by going into it and physically changing the assets, but I don't know how to change the font size/color/family.I've seen lots of documentation, but nothing complete, and definitely nothing that I can paste into my document.
View 2 RepliesI have a tileList component and i was wondering how one might go about antialiasing the font inside of each label. I have the font embedded using:
leftList.setRendererStyle("embedFonts", true);
I have tried targeting the label specifically with no luck so far.did not work.
var theTextField:TextField = leftList.label;
leftList.antiAliasType = "advanced";
I've developed an application which uses a couple of variations of the same font throughout.I have embedded the relevant font in to every single text field throughout the application (using the embed dialogue box).However whenever I change the text in code, the font is displayed differently. I have even tried setting it to embed every character from the font in to the field, and I have also added the font as a library component and exported for actionscript. It looks like it is losing its weighting.
View 1 Repliesthe embed fonts stuff in flash, it sometimes works and then again it does not. my problem I need to embed a greek font to be used with the List Component. what I did so far:
1. library-> new Font ( Named it myFont, exported it as:MyFont )
2. put a list comp on stage called it myList
3. got a xml file called index.xml encoded in UTF-8 (so it displays greek chars) that gets loaded (makes no diff if you use component inspector to insert the labels)
4. set system.codepage to false;
Code: Select allmyList.setStyle("embedFonts", true);
myList.setStyle("fontSize", 13);
myList.setStyle("fontFamily" , "MyFont");
what it does not work. I am at a loss as to how to get this to work. I am attaching the file and the font used. (verdana arial should work too, but even they don't embed)
Mabe it has something to do with the xml encoding, but if you try to just copy the greek characters into the component inspectors lable field they are still not displayed. So I guess xml encoding is not the problem.
how can i embed font for a Flash Label Component?
View 3 RepliesI've got a whole bunch of data being displayed in different Labels, now I'm adding an edit state. I'd like all the labels to "transform" into TextInputs. I was just wondering if it possible to uses states to change
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to embed a font in my project by using url("font.ttf") rather than local("Font Name"), but it doesn't seem to pick it up. The font in question is called "Gotham Bold". When i view the details of the font, the font weight is regular, however when i use local("Gotham Bold") in the css i have to specify fontWeight: bold or else it wont pick it up. But when I use url("folderGotham-Bold.ttf"), and specify fontWeight: bold, it says that font weight is not found for that TTF. If i remove the fontweight, there's no errors, but the font is not applied to the text.
View 2 RepliesI am trying to create a combobox where the items listed in the combobox are font names and each item will display using the font of the item label. For instance, one item label in the list is "New Times Roman" and I want that particular row in the combobox to have the text AND font of "New Times Roman". For some reason, inside of my custom CellRenderer class, I cannot seem to find a way to get the item label that corresponds to the CellRenderer and the CellRenderer.data item always appears to be null!
This is the code I am currently using:
//From the main class, I am creating an instance of the
CustomizableComboBox and adding in the font names I am interested
in.
var comboFont:CustomizableComboBox=new

I changed from using a text field to a textArea component and now the font size is much smaller.The original text field had the font size set to 10 and Arial, just like I think I am doing with the TextArea but it appears to be coming up at about 3/4 the size it was before.
Code Snippet:
myTF = new TextFormat("Arial", 10, 0xFFFFFF,false);
myText_mc.myTextArea.setStyle("textFormat", myTF);
[code].....
How can I set font size of title property (header) in TitleWindow component? If I use fontSize property, it sets the font size for all components in TitleWindow, which is not what I want. I only want to set it for the title. I'm using Flex 3.
View 1 RepliesSo we have a component we have written ourselves that deals with text display and translation between languages, reading translations from a file. Ideally what we would like to do is have this component be compatible with any font we can embed in the main .swf's library. What's the best way to do that?
Currently we are going down the route of having our component have an attribute for the font name, lets say 'Font1'. We drag the component into the .FLA file we want and then add a new font to the library called 'Font1' and set it to the typeface we want. This is proving to be inconsistent and problematic which implies it's not really an ideal way of doing it.
Is there anyway to achieve the feature we want? The key is flexibility, we want to easily support languages (hence the component) but we don't want design to be limited in their font selection. Its not practical to embed a range of fonts in the component for example, as it adds to file size and is restrictive.
I have a flash xml gallery in AS3. For the life of me I can not figure out how to change the font color. Its very complex and, I have know idea where to look. It dosn't seem to be driven from the xml, and I can only see very limited color # in the AS. only want to change text color.
View 2 RepliesWhat is the most common way to change the font in a TextField, within a package? I read a little bit about styling the text in the TextField with CSS, or possibly embedding the fonts, but I know little about accomplishing either.
Code:
package {
import flash.text.TextField;

I am using Adobe Flash CS5 and Action Script 3, but I am struggling to do something really simple (which means I am looking in the wrong place probably), I have 5 TextInput fields, I have added to the stage via the 'Components' option, but after discovering how to change the colour of the fields, I now want to change the font which appears when you type directly into the fields when the Flash movie is playing, however I can't seems to find this function. I found a tutorial which mentioned going to the properties panel and then clicking 'Character, then 'Embed Font', but this maybe in CS4?
