May 18, 2010i'm trying to create a unordered list in Flex. My issue is that within each line, i want the word NEW to be a different font color and different font size from the rest of the label text. I am unsure of how to do this INLINE within the label component.

Dec 24, 2009I can change the color of the label in Flex Builder, I can even BIND the color to a variable and that works, but I can't find the Color PROPERTY in order to change or reference it programatically! What is the ActionScript 3.0 code to change the font or color of a piece of text in a Flex RIA - or is caring in what color your text appears too bizzarre a request for a RIA? I wrote whole applications after just minutes of "learning" flex, how come it's taken me three days and I still can't change the color of my stupid label?

How can I get the notes to display? when I to to the symbol it shows the letter of the alphabet but in the fla when I look at the Text, Font it has the (Musical Symbols) Default Font selected as it should.

So I thought, that would be okay and the text of my s:Label will be formatted with this special font. But the output is the normal font. By changing the "s:Label" to a "mx:Label", the font is "loaded". So, what can I do that the font will work with s:Label?

Set Font Style To Label Or Button Components?
Aug 21, 2010I am Carlos, I am working on a little App in Flash CS5 but I cant find the way to set a Font Style to a label or button components.
The program just add values to a variable and print it to the label, that works perfect, the problem is that when I test the app, the text size in the label and button are so small that they are useless.
As a Workaround I add a text with TextTool in which I can set "Character" in list of properties, but no "Character" section in list of properties for Label or Button.
Flex :: Sparks Text Fields Are Not Using The Default Font And Giving Warnings?
Feb 21, 2011I get the following warning when I run my application:
warning: incompatible embedded font 'Arial' specified for spark.components::Label (Label104).This component requires that the embedded font be declared with embedAsCff=true.
The application I am working on is a mix of Halo and Sparks components as I am migrating it to Flex 4. The text that is showing in the text fields is defaulting the systems serif font. There are a few problems with this warning.
1) I am not embedding any fonts in the application. I am not even assigning the Arial font to any of the components.
2) If I check the "Use Flash Text Engine in MX components", then all the text fields in the app throw the warning. Not just the sparks text fields.
Why does flex 4 think that I am using an embedded font with the sparks components? Is there any way to get around this warning and have the text fields use a non embedded font?

Nov 9, 2010I'm building a small Flex UI component that displays a colored square next to a label of text. I want to be able to specify a size for the square and internally adjust the label's properties such that the line height matches the square and the text is vertically centered with respect to the square.
At the moment, I'm using mx.controls.Label for the text. Setting the fontSize style to the square's size does not work, the label then becomes too big. After tracing a couple of values in the debugger, I found that
the line height of the internal text field (sum of the ascent and descent properties of the TextFieldMetrics object obtained through getTextFieldMetircs()) seems to end up about 120% of what I specify a s font size.there's a default "leading" of 2 pixels that I can not change directly at the Label level, this adds to the overall height of the internal text field (getTextFieldMetrics().height)the height of the Label component then is an additional 5 pixels larger than that, I don't know where those come from.
Css :: Flex 4 Rotated Horizontal Label With Embedded Font Truncated?
Feb 14, 2011I am trying to get the horizontal label of a ColumnChart rotated by 45°. I already know the font needs to be embedded for this to work, but now, my label are being truncated. Note that it worked in a basic chart proof-of-concept I made months ago, but now it is integrated in a panel with a verticalLayout, label are truncated.

Note that if I use the style for the vertical axis, I also get the number truncated to the first digit.
ActionScript 2.0 :: Sound Muted As Default On FLV Component
Jan 9, 2009I have a custom Flash Video Player and I have the play and mute button as controls. Currently my player has the sound on, I want to set it as muted by default.
This should also show my mutebutton as on as a visual cue. The only line of code I am using for the mute button is this
myVideo.muteButton = mute_btn; // which is just telling the flv component which button needs to act as the mute button

Jun 24, 2010I'd like to adjust the width of the default ScrollBar that appears inside of a Flash ComboBox. From my research on various forums, it seems like the best approach would be to subclass fl.controls.ScrollBar, which I've tried doing here:

Then, in my library, I've taken the "ScrollBar" movie clip that appears upon initial creation of a ComboBox and changed the base class to "helpers.CustomScroller". I've got three ComboBox instances on the stage; however, none of them are showing anything but the default width, nor am I seeing the output from the trace() statement in my constructor.
