I would like to display a set of Text like this "DISCONTINUED (02-02-2012) Crocin" in label. But i need smaller font size for Date. How can I set the value to Label so that I can display smaller size font for Date.
I only need to assign a single string to label? like this "DISCONTINUED (02-02-2012) Crocin"
I'm building a small Flex UI component that displays a colored square next to a label of text. I want to be able to specify a size for the square and internally adjust the label's properties such that the line height matches the square and the text is vertically centered with respect to the square.
At the moment, I'm using mx.controls.Label for the text. Setting the fontSize style to the square's size does not work, the label then becomes too big. After tracing a couple of values in the debugger, I found that
the line height of the internal text field (sum of the ascent and descent properties of the TextFieldMetrics object obtained through getTextFieldMetircs()) seems to end up about 120% of what I specify a s font size.there's a default "leading" of 2 pixels that I can not change directly at the Label level, this adds to the overall height of the internal text field (getTextFieldMetrics().height)the height of the Label component then is an additional 5 pixels larger than that, I don't know where those come from.
i'm trying to create a unordered list in Flex. My issue is that within each line, i want the word NEW to be a different font color and different font size from the rest of the label text. I am unsure of how to do this INLINE within the label component.
<s:VGroup fontSize="15" color="#ffffff"> <s:Label text="u2022 NEW Invite your friends!" /> <s:Label text="u2022 NEW Features coming soon!" /> <s:Label text="u2022 NEW Invite your friends!" /> </s:VGroup>
I can change the color of the label in Flex Builder, I can even BIND the color to a variable and that works, but I can't find the Color PROPERTY in order to change or reference it programatically! What is the ActionScript 3.0 code to change the font or color of a piece of text in a Flex RIA - or is caring in what color your text appears too bizzarre a request for a RIA? I wrote whole applications after just minutes of "learning" flex, how come it's taken me three days and I still can't change the color of my stupid label?
So I thought, that would be okay and the text of my s:Label will be formatted with this special font. But the output is the normal font. By changing the "s:Label" to a "mx:Label", the font is "loaded". So, what can I do that the font will work with s:Label?
Why do the dynamic text font size appears smaller than what I specified in the flash dynamic text properties? I used a font size of 50 for the dynamic text and when I test movie, it appears to be only a font size of 12. Why is it so?
I am trying to get the horizontal label of a ColumnChart rotated by 45°. I already know the font needs to be embedded for this to work, but now, my label are being truncated. Note that it worked in a basic chart proof-of-concept I made months ago, but now it is integrated in a panel with a verticalLayout, label are truncated.
[Code]...
Note that if I use the style for the vertical axis, I also get the number truncated to the first digit.
In my application, I allow the user to change the font of a text field. They use a combobox component to select the font. Can I change the font of each individual label in the combobox to match the font it is named? Like, Microsoft Word style.
Suppose I have a (Spark) label. What is the best way to find the length of the text in it? I looked at the myLable.measureText("bla bla") method but it says: To measure text in Spark components, get the measurements of a spark.components.Label or spark.components.RichTextfter looking around I cannot find what this is refering to. I tried myLabel.measureWidth() but this does not return anything usefull (it frequently returns zero). Note: I am explicitly setting the width like this:<s:Lable width="{globalWidthVariable"} .../>If the text overflows I would like to increse the globalWidthVariable to the size of the text.
I just want to lock or set a default font size for the rich text editor. I tried setting font-size = 16, which although it did set the default to 16, also made all the labels etc... in the editor to font size 16.
I have a LinkBar which is linked to a viewstack. However, as I change the fontsize of my LinkBar, when I run it, the font size does not change at all! I've tried changing the font using CSS and it doesnt change the font size!
How can I set font size of title property (header) in TitleWindow component? If I use fontSize property, it sets the font size for all components in TitleWindow, which is not what I want. I only want to set it for the title. I'm using Flex 3.
When i change the font size and font color i get the result i want. But when i try to change the font-family, or to make a part of text in italics or bold i fail to get what i want.I also tried this:
<font style="font-style:italic">my text</font>with no success
I have a textarea where I measure the textWidth and textHeight to make sure the user cannot enter more text than can fit in the text area. I also extended the textArea with a textHeightNow and textWidthNow that measure the textField's dimensions since they update w/out requiring validation. Now this works great for 90% of the embedded fonts I'm using but any fonts that have giant serifs are not measured properly, for instance look at the 'f's in this text area:You can see they get cut off on both sides because textWidth and textWidthNow both return an incorrect size not taking into account the massive serifs.
I have a Flex custom BorderContainer component which has text inside of it. If I were to add this in my main Application inside of a panel, the BorderContainer goes outside of the width bounds of the panel due to the text being a set size. I have all of its components in percentages so that it re-sizes when shrunk, but the one part that contains checkboxes and labels (lots of things with text) mess up since the font size doesn't change.
I am pretty positive that the results I am looking for can be done through embedding the font, though I have not been able to come up with a solution from online. I am trying to do this with a CSS style since I will be using it for many different components (I dont just want to change it in the flex code directly).
EDIT Solution:
I attempted to use the ratio as www0z0k had suggested but it caused some serious issues when it was re-sized quickly or to a small screen (the component would not re-size correctly because it was multiplying by the ratio. What finally seems to have worked for me and caused no issues was that I ran the code and found the width (1152) and height (842) of the container.
I then created a const variable of widthX = 1152 and heightY = 842 and in the onResize() function I coded the resize like this: (where bottomGroup is the id of the borderContainer I am trying to resize)
So far I have found some examples of embedding fonts in the <fx:Style> and attempted to remove any delaration of fontSize but that doesn't seem to work.
<fx:Style> @namespace s "library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"; @font-face {
I am creating an Adobe Flex application for the Blackberry Playbook. I was wondering if there is a way where the user can click a button (for example) to increase or decrease all font sizes across the entire application?
I have a list of fonts obtained via Font.enumerateFonts() and I want to display them all as 12 pixels tall. The problem is that I cannot simply set the point size because this can vary in actual pixel size for each font. So basically I want to determine what the correct point size is for a font in order to make it exactly 12 pixels tall. Because I'm doing this with a potentially large list I'm looking for an efficient method to do this.
I'm trying to embed a font in my project by using url("font.ttf") rather than local("Font Name"), but it doesn't seem to pick it up. The font in question is called "Gotham Bold". When i view the details of the font, the font weight is regular, however when i use local("Gotham Bold") in the css i have to specify fontWeight: bold or else it wont pick it up. But when I use url("folderGotham-Bold.ttf"), and specify fontWeight: bold, it says that font weight is not found for that TTF. If i remove the fontweight, there's no errors, but the font is not applied to the text.
While creating one photo gallery I am facing one problem in controlling the Font Color, Font Size and other characteristics of a text loaded into a text field from an XML File.
