Actionscript 3 :: Programmatically Altering Font Face, Size, Weight And Color Of A Flex Label/Text Component?
Dec 24, 2009
I can change the color of the label in Flex Builder, I can even BIND the color to a variable and that works, but I can't find the Color PROPERTY in order to change or reference it programatically! What is the ActionScript 3.0 code to change the font or color of a piece of text in a Flex RIA - or is caring in what color your text appears too bizzarre a request for a RIA? I wrote whole applications after just minutes of "learning" flex, how come it's taken me three days and I still can't change the color of my stupid label?
i'm trying to create a unordered list in Flex. My issue is that within each line, i want the word NEW to be a different font color and different font size from the rest of the label text. I am unsure of how to do this INLINE within the label component.
<s:VGroup fontSize="15" color="#ffffff"> <s:Label text="u2022 NEW Invite your friends!" /> <s:Label text="u2022 NEW Features coming soon!" /> <s:Label text="u2022 NEW Invite your friends!" /> </s:VGroup>
While creating one photo gallery I am facing one problem in controlling the Font Color, Font Size and other characteristics of a text loaded into a text field from an XML File. The name of the text field in question is my_txt it loads the title from the xml file attached herewith. how I can control the behavior of the text loaded in that text field.
I would like to display a set of Text like this "DISCONTINUED (02-02-2012) Crocin" in label. But i need smaller font size for Date. How can I set the value to Label so that I can display smaller size font for Date.
I only need to assign a single string to label? like this "DISCONTINUED (02-02-2012) Crocin"
I'm building a small Flex UI component that displays a colored square next to a label of text. I want to be able to specify a size for the square and internally adjust the label's properties such that the line height matches the square and the text is vertically centered with respect to the square.
At the moment, I'm using mx.controls.Label for the text. Setting the fontSize style to the square's size does not work, the label then becomes too big. After tracing a couple of values in the debugger, I found that
the line height of the internal text field (sum of the ascent and descent properties of the TextFieldMetrics object obtained through getTextFieldMetircs()) seems to end up about 120% of what I specify a s font size.there's a default "leading" of 2 pixels that I can not change directly at the Label level, this adds to the overall height of the internal text field (getTextFieldMetrics().height)the height of the Label component then is an additional 5 pixels larger than that, I don't know where those come from.
now i need to customize the Font, Color, and Size.. can anyone help. I've found many possible solutions but none that I know how to apply to exactly what I have already created.
I'm a noob, so please forgive me if i'm asking something really stupid! I'm doing a group project and i've just got the code from someone else, so i can add my part.
I am trying to add text in actionscript 3 (in a actions frame) simple enough. but.i want to have words next to each other, that have different fonts, font sizes and colors. I've been googling and experimenting for most of the day and haven't really got anywhere.
I will post what i have and what i would like to do, and if someone can help me, i would be most grateful.
Here the code that i'm working with:
[Code]...
When i first got the code, all that was there, was the info.text = "Animal...... line, i added the rest and also tried adding other line of code to make other words be in different fonts, but it didn't work.
So heres what i'm trying to do; I would like to have the headings, example; Animal name, Animal Type.. in one font, and the answers, example; Kangaroo, Mammal in another font.As it is at the moment, it look crap, because its all in the same font, color and size.
i would like to modify the font weight of a word (my title) that is into a textfield that is "scrolled" : so when i modify this word, the whole text is being modified as well, and i can't write it in another textfield, because i want it to be scrolled as the rest of the text.Do i "have to" set the title and the text dynamically to change the font? or can i do it directly from the fla (which would save me some time, i have several texts in the same case)
How can I set font size of title property (header) in TitleWindow component? If I use fontSize property, it sets the font size for all components in TitleWindow, which is not what I want. I only want to set it for the title. I'm using Flex 3.
When i change the font size and font color i get the result i want.But when i try to change the font-family, or to make a part of text in italics or bold i fail to get what i want.I also tried this:
<font style="font-style:italic">my text</font>with no success
I have completed a simple contact form using Flash CS5 and AS2. Instead of having headings such as "your email", "subject" and "message" outside each text field, they are contained inside each relevant text field and are made up of input text. I would like to do two things: To have the initial text (ie. "Subject") in a smaller size and heavier weight than the subsequent text typed in by the user. I would also like the initial text (ie. "Subject") to disappear as soon as the user starts to type in the same box.
Why do the dynamic text font size appears smaller than what I specified in the flash dynamic text properties? I used a font size of 50 for the dynamic text and when I test movie, it appears to be only a font size of 12. Why is it so?
what the default label font that flash uses when you add a component? Ive searched around Im trying ti match it as it looks much better than other fonts?
Suppose I have a (Spark) label. What is the best way to find the length of the text in it? I looked at the myLable.measureText("bla bla") method but it says: To measure text in Spark components, get the measurements of a spark.components.Label or spark.components.RichTextfter looking around I cannot find what this is refering to. I tried myLabel.measureWidth() but this does not return anything usefull (it frequently returns zero). Note: I am explicitly setting the width like this:<s:Lable width="{globalWidthVariable"} .../>If the text overflows I would like to increse the globalWidthVariable to the size of the text.
I am using actionsript 3 and flex 3.5. Is there any way to change the font color of a part of text in TextArea control without using "htmlText" property?
For example I have a string "dog, cat, fish". I want to change the color of "cat" word to red.
I can't seem to figure out how to change the color of a font or the font iteself on the button component. I'm sure it's a simple procedure. Everything seems to point you to changing the colors of the button itself, but not the font.
I have a dynamic text box and I would like to be able to use actionscript 3 to change the color, font, size, etc. of only HALF the dynamic text. Is there a way to use the TextFormat class (or another way) to format half the string and append it to the end of the dynamic text? I also don't want to use server side script or anything outside of flash.
I want to do this: Hello World -> Hello World Example: change the color of Half of the dynamic text box.
I have a list component in my flash movie, and I managed to change the look of it by going into it and physically changing the assets, but I don't know how to change the font size/color/family.I've seen lots of documentation, but nothing complete, and definitely nothing that I can paste into my document.
With sifr, how do I make a font use the light weight version. I have...
var gillsans = { src: '/resources/swf/gillsans.swf' }; sIFR.activate(gillsans); sIFR.replace(gillsans, {
[Code]....
which is displaying regular Gill Sans, the light version has been exported with the swf (said so in the export report), but how do I get it to display in sifr?
I changed from using a text field to a textArea component and now the font size is much smaller.The original text field had the font size set to 10 and Arial, just like I think I am doing with the TextArea but it appears to be coming up at about 3/4 the size it was before.
Code Snippet: myTF = new TextFormat("Arial", 10, 0xFFFFFF,false); myText_mc.myTextArea.setStyle("textFormat", myTF);
