ActionScript 2.0 :: Communicating Through A Scroll Window Component?

when I needed a method to communicate from the (linked) content in a scroll window component to a dynamically attached mc in front of the scroll window. The code was pretty simple!
Code:
calendarPagesBtn_mc.onRelease = function(){
_level0.slideHolder_mc.attachMovie("calendarPages", "calendarPages", _level0.slideHolder_mc.getNextHighestDepth());
};
And I've been using it quite a lot, as we create a lot of scrolling timelines with clickable callouts.
However now I need to be able to communicate from the attached mc BACK to the linked content of the scroll window. I've tried a few things and nothing's working yet.
EDIT: All I need to do I think is check if the mc in front of the scroll window is empty, but my mind is a blank right now.

I'm building this game, and it was working fine, until I used the menuBar component. It's not code related, 'cause i've commented out the script that does things with the menuBar. If I drag the MenuBar component from the component window, onto my Stage , the game refuses to work. If I deleet it (but keep it IN my library), it still doesn't work!. But if I turn the export settings of the MenuBar off, it works! The classes that i'm using for my game are called Node.as, JawBreaker.as The class I want to use to do something with the menuBar is called GameMenu.as (but that doesn't matter, since I commented the calling of that class out).

I had a question Yesterday, and posted in the Flash 8 Section of this forum...well, I have a question now...When I open a Window Component(with a movie clip inside it ...ofcourse) via Popup Manager from the Menu Component, the Window opens up, but I can't go back to the menu and open it. I have a window component on my main timeline that gets called up on several instances. When the popup window appears, everything looks fine, except that the user can still click on links that are now behind the actual popup window itself. My question is how do I keep those buttons from being active while the popup window is active?

if you go to [url]....you will notice that you can not scroll the browser window with your mouse wheel if the cursor is over the flash object (entire website is one object). I need to make it so scrolling always affects the browser no matter the state of the cursor.

I am working on a flash site where the user scrolls down in their browser to view all of the content, the problem is that when the user goes to the next page of the site the browser is still scrolled down to the bottom and so they have to scroll to the top of the page to view the content they must read first. Is there any way I can avoid this without using scroll bars in flash or is there a way I can reset the scrollbar of the browser the flash site is being viewed in?

how to make the output window auto scroll? i.e. If I have an enter frame event that increments a number and I trace that number, when the traces fill the output window, I cannot see the current traces. I have to go grab the scroll bar and drag it down and since it is constantly changing it is tough to keep up.

I am using CS5, AS3 and the scrollbar component as well as dynamic text from an XML file. I can format the text (color) in my XML that IS NOT being pulled into the scrollbar text. However, I have had no success formatting anything that is to scroll.
I have tried with and without CDDATA tags and nothing works. Is this allowed?

I've got two pages with text sitting in Dynamic text boxes. I've used the scrollbar component in Flash Professional (UIScrollBar). All appears great when previewed in Flash. The moment it's viewed in a browser, the scroll bars disappear! All appears to be disabled. I've checked the linkage of the Component and all appears fine. Here is the browser view: [URL]. i was under the impression after reading some posts on this forum that the flash mx component scroll bar could be edited and manipulated easily by breaking down the pieces (arrows, bar, ect) and changing color ect as seen fit?( i just was a black scroll handle that is pink on mouseover, and i want to delete the up and down arrows alltogether.)

I ve got a series of frames, each with its own instance of a scrollPane called actionText. When navigating from frame to frame I want the vertical scroll position of actionText to reset to 0.For some reason these separate instances of the component are inheriting scroll positions from one another,for example,if I scroll to 50% in one frame, jump to a new frame with a new instance of actionText, that new instance starts at 50%, not 0.
I should be able to set the scroll position by actionText.vPostion = 0 but I get Position is an undefined property of the object actionText .Roll over either the star one or star twotabs and select any action item, scroll the text down (actually a pdf converted to swf), then navigate to another action item and the new scrollPane does not default to 0. Only stars one and two are coded.[url]......

I set it up to have 4 scenes and in each scene I use, I have a scrollbar from the components menu attached to some dynamic text. Now, I had this problem before, but then I apparently fixed it when I deleted all the text and scrollbars and then remade them. Now, I'm on a different computer and suddenly this is a problem again. Whenever I test the .swf file I get this Output Error:TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.at NorthernStar_fla::MainTimeline/__setProp___id31__Music_Layer16_1() at NorthernStar_fla::MainTimeline/frame1()Now, "Music" is the scene and "layer 16" is where I have my scrollbar and dynamic text. I know it has something to do with either the scrollbar or text as the error disappears when they do.

i've a tilelist component on my screen which has many entries (more than 10).it displays only 3 items. i've created two buttons for scrolling. right button and left button.if right button is clicked, tilelist component will scroll to next 3 items.likewise if left button is clicked, tilelist component will scroll to previous 3 items.i know it can be done with tileList.scrollToIndex() command.but the problem is, it directly switches to specified number while i want to scroll (tween)..

I have an empty textbox with the basic scroll bar component. Nothing is in the text box so the arrows are greyed out on the scrollbar. I have a button that loads text into the textbox, but the component does not update itself to accomodate text that is larger than the text box.
how can I make it so that the scrollbar changes when text is added.....also If I put text in the text box in flash, when I publish it gets the scrollbar fine, but it will not adjust itself when I click on the button that loads different text into the text box. what happens is the scroll bar stays the same regardless on the size of the loaded text.

I am having trouble with the scroll bar component with a text field on a website. I made a text field and am dynamically loading html text into the field. On one page I have a single text field with a single html document loaded into it. On another page I have a single text field that has buttons to swap out the html documents to view different docs. When test the movie in Flash everything works fine. When the files are uploaded online the text scroll bars disappear on both pages for the single doc and the other page with multiple docs, and I can't scroll them.

I am getting the following error message:
"TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
at fl.containers::ScrollPane/endDrag()"
The problem occurs when I like this: I click a button on the Main Frame which takes me to frame #2. I go back to the Main Frame and then come back to the frame #2. When I go to Frame #2. I get the error message.I suspect the problem is occurring because I am not emptying the "scrollPane_1" component on exit. In the code below scrollPane_1 is a scroll pane component. This is occurring on all pages that I have the scroll pane on. Also the scroll pane component is on stage and has an instance name of "scrollPane_1".
This is an Air for iOS file. Here's the code.
