ActionScript 2.0 :: Count XML Items (after Pushed To Array)
Mar 10, 2009
I'm trying to figure out how to find the exact location of an XML item after I pushed it to an array... I'm using this to find the item with the "fotoNR" number:
[Code]...
But how do I find that by code? Basically, I need to know how many items go from the beggining till the finded one!
what's a simple way to combine arrays with as3? by combine, i mean that contents of one array are pushed into another array.I already tried a for loop and push.
what im thinking is each mc loaded is pushed into the array then on the press of a button or keyboard press the array is cleared and the movieclips that were inside the array are removed from the stage. trouble is i dont know how to write that. some guidance would be great.
I successfully loaded 8 objects and pushed them into an array. The problem is that if I want to have the same object in 2 places, it deletes the old one to make a new. Ex:
I am looping through an 9x9 grid btw and goto a MySQL database to find what tile needs to be placed where.
ActionScript Code: function onResult(responds:Object):void { var dbArray:Array = responds.serverInfo.initialData;
[Code].....
It will load fine but once I hit a tile that was already used, it moves it to the new square.
I must be missing something small, but it sure makes a difference. My array contains five states each with an abbreviation (abr, such as "NJ", "NY") and either enabled or disabled (hot, either "true" or "false"). When I do a trace within the function itself, it brings back an accurate array.length. But, after this function, I can't recall the data at all! Its as if it only exists during the load function.
StateArray = new Array(); XMLRetrieve = new XML(); XMLRetrieve.ignoreWhite = true; XMLRetrieve.load("states.xml"); XMLRetrieve.onLoad = function() { [Code] .....
i have a series of radio buttons that when clicked, an array is pushed to store a value. i would like this value to be spliced from the array with the help of a variable if the person unchecks the checkbox, but all i've been able to come up with is splicing the first value out regardless of which button is unchecked.
Code: Select allmyArray=new Array if (myArray.length>0){ myText.text=myArray;[code].....
I have a javascript array and a function on my html page, and I need actionscript to be able to pick the right one from the array and run the function based on what button I pushed. My javascript is:
[Code]...
I'm a little lost on the AS part of it, what would be the best way to have the each different button run it's respective part in the JS array/function?
I have 10 dynamic text fields inside a movieclip, which are populated via an XML file. However, the xml file sometimes has less than 10 items. It never has more than 10. This results in the following error, which is normal. I need the code to count the amount of items in the XML file and then create a for-each loop. I can visualize it, but I don't know how to write it. Basically what I need the code below transformed in to is this... (notice the #'s)
I have this loop code that counts up the XML nodes and creates menu items for each node, that was taken from a tutorial. How can I have it so after 10 nodes it creates a new column setting them side by side? Moving them say 100px on the x axis? Here is the 1st part of the code done by a friend:
HOWEVER: I would like that if - for example i am on item 10 and click to item 4 - all the thumbnails between 4-10 are removed. it it possible to dispatch this click event X number of times dependant on the - count value?? FOR REFERENCE: THIS IS THE CODE THAT REMOVES ALL ITEMS BEYOND THE ONE I HAVE SELECTED:
I am encountering a problem with addChild and removeChild.I would like to add a child when one button is pushed and remove the same child when another button is pushed.The code I am working with doesn't work. (see attached code)and this is the error message I get back.1120: Access of undefined property gallery.
I am working on trying to collect data within an array (which works) and this data is collected when a button is pressed or selected. I also want the ability to remove an item from the array if the button is pressed again. Currently, I have these buttons dynamically generated and everything works well. The buttons have ids applied to them. SO what I am trying to get working is, if I select button 0, 2, 3 (0 indexing), the data array created holds [A., C., D.]. I want to remove A. after I click button 0. Instead, it seems to cause problems. What I am doing wrong with splicing??? trace statement:
A. items so far selected selected items are: 0 A.,C. items so far selected
I'm so proud of myself. I figured this out all by myself and thought I would share. (If you can't tell, I'm new to AS) I needed a way to grab an item in a specific location and have it return an array of items. Here is how I did it:
in many programming languages there is this great idiom that lets you use a hash to count occurrences of items. Eg in Perl, suppose you have a list of students and you want to see how many of each name you have (2 Bobs, 1 Jeremy, 22 Aidans etc):
my %uniqueNames; for (@studentNames){ $uniqueNames{$_}++; } # print it out[code]....
So you can do this in ActionScript 3 of course, using the Object.The problem is NaN. If you try to autocreate and autoincrement a key at the same time, you get NaN, and the whole thing breaks down.Sure, you can use a conditional to test whether the key exists, and then autoincrement it, or set it to one if not, but that's ugly.
I'm trying to make a volume button for my site and it looks something like this:
- ||||| +
i want the volume bar to start filled and when the user hits the minus button it lowers the volume and when it hit plus it takes the volume up well when I go down and up the volume bars start to get crazy...it just works when I go down the whole way and after it goes up the whole way, when I change direction on the midle of the path it jumps some bars...
Code: volDown.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, menosVol); volUp.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, maisVol); var cliques:uint = 0 if (cliques == 7){
I have an array that contains movieclips. All of the movieclips have te type and they are all positioned on the stage next to eachother.
Above the displayed movieclips i have 3 buttons, each simbolizing a type, what i want to do is: i click on one of the buttons and all of the movieclips that dont match the right type should be removed from the stage, the remaining movieclips should then tween so that they are next to eachother again. If i click the button again then the movieclips should be displayed again to where they were and should all be positioned again next to eachother.
I'm a bit green when it comes to code and I have a specific thing I need to do which has had me going round in circles (no laughing at the back!). It must be pretty simple but I'm stumped! Basically I have 6 movieclips on the timeline with instance names 'btn1', 'btn2' etc to 'btn6'. These movieclips have an "on" and an "off" state (frame labels)
I am undergoing some experiments on creating object arrays before I attempt to implement it on my main flash document.
Ive created an object array with 3 variables, and im attempting to change the values, then trace the values back to see if its working. Ive tried many things but I keep getting [object: Object] back in the output window.[code]...
