I have a flash 8 movie that uses actionscript to create a projectile, kind of like a ball being fired from a canon. I want to create a line that follows and draws the path of the projectile.
What's the simplest way to see where warnings and errors come from, on vizzy?
Here's a few instances I see on my mac. Quite different from the screenshots we can see on its wiki:
Warning: 'flash' has no property 'prototype' Warning: 'StageVideo' has no property 'prototype' Warning: 'AsBroadcaster' has no property 'addListener' Warning: 'AsBroadcaster' has no property 'removeListener' Warning: 'flash' has no property 'prototype'
[Code]...
I can now see VizzyTrace.swc is required for many vizzy functionality. But even after considering all that (and enabling debug flag on the FLA, replacing trace for trc, setting up the "extra options" and adding the SWC) I still see nothing.
Now every trc line is prepended with an almost useless (I can control traces just all right and easily induce where they came from) file name and line number under Flash Professional's own output when I "Test Movie" but not even then will Vizzy show those lines. Not to say after the SWF is compiled and I'm tracing on the browser.
I'm creating a game where you have a cannon at the left edge of the screen. I want to be able to fire a cannonball from the cannon in an arc so that it intersects where the mouse pointer is on the screen.
I've seen a few examples that move a projectile in an arc from point a to point b, but what I need is for the cannonball to first move along the axis of the cannon itself, it's no good if the ball leaves the end of the cannon at a different angle to which the cannon is pointing.
The only force acting on the ball will be gravity and it's starting velocity.
Also to complicate matters, I need the cannons angle to change according to how far away the mouse pointer is from the end of the cannon, so if the pointer is far away than the cannon will point upwards say at an angle of 45 degrees, but if the pointer is very close to the end of the cannon then the cannon will point directly at the pointer, this I've more or less already got working by just getting the distance between them and then dividing it by a number and subtracting it from the rotation value of the cannon, but it's a bit of a rough way of doing it.
EDIT Using the code below I've managed to the line in the screen shot below. But as you can see it's not the trajectory I need, I need something more like the red line I've put in.
And here's how I've implemented the code (probably wrongly)
public class GameTurretLine2 { var rt:Object = null;
[Code]....
Also for some strange reason, the line created by the code flips, from how it is in the screen shot to an indented code (y flipped) just by moving the mouse a tiny amount, so as you move the mouse the line jumps everywhere.
This is my first week of learning Flash and ActionScript, and because I don't have a good ActionScript book yet, I've been reading several basic Flash game programming tutorials online and doing my best to understand and learn the syntax and methods. After successfully creating "my" first Flash game (a space-shooter from the great tutorial on this website), I decided to set a high bar for myself and try to make a top-down shooter which I can expand on as I learn more.
My problem is that I simply cannot get Flash to recognize my "bullet" movie clip symbol in the library, place it by my character's gun with correct rotation, and finally shoot it off into the distance. The gun is part of the same .png as the character is in, so it is part of the same symbol ("player").
Below is the code I am working on for the shooting code:
Shooting Code: (Applied to my "Player" movie clip symbol's "Actions") onClipEvent(load) {
[code]....
In my Flash scene, I have a "Crosshairs" movie clip symbol which I have successfully gotten to replace the hidden standard mouse cursor, a "player" movie clip who can move around the scene while always facing the crosshair, and a "bullet2" movie clip in my library. Both the player and bullet MC's have identifiers of the same name applied to them.
Need to make it so when you hit <control> it will place the bullet but if you hit <control> again it will duplicate it instead of moving the bullet from where it was before. I am trying to find a code that I can look at for research but there arent any AS 3.0 scripts or fla files to DL. The bullet does not need to move or anything, just places the bullet.
I have a 3d projectile game I'm working on. I want to check if the projectile moving down the z axis hits wall on two sides. The walls are set up like this: leftWall = new wall(); leftWall.x = 10; leftWall.y = 360; leftWall.z = 230; leftWall.rotationY = -95; How to do collision detection in this 3d space?
I have a projectile that generated by this code: //initial code bullet1.x = bullet1.x + (cur_speed_x / 10); bullet1.y = bullet1.y - (cur_speed_y / 10); cur_speed_y = cur_speed_y - g / 50; [Code] ..... I want the projectile to keep the same path but just move faster without having to increase the frame rate of the movie. Where I should increase the motion in the above formulas to get that to happen?
I have this code to add my missile to the screen PHP Code:
[Code]...
it adds right where my character is but I cant seem to figure out how to get the missile to actual move in the direction the character is facing. heres how it looks [URL]
I have absolutely no idea where to post about this, please move if necessary.So, I've just installed flash player 10 and now my flash tracer plugin (in firefox) won't work. do i have to switch back to flash player 9 or is there a solution to this?
i have the correct path in Flash Tracer's settings (C:Documents and SettingsAdministratorApplication DataMacromediaFlash PlayerLogsflashlog.txt) as well as the mm.cfg file in C:Documents and SettingsAdministrator.
I'm trying to create a series of scripts that will create some custom event listeners.
I have three movie clips on my stage. One is a movieclip who's sole function is to hold array's and the event listeners. A second which moves around the screen. And a third that is motionless.
The problem is that the argument I want to test (which activates the custom event) is held within a string.
What I want to know is, how do you test to see if the string argument is true?
Is it something similar to this:
var myCode:String="1<0";if(myCode){ trace('one is smaller than 0'); //Strangely apparently one IS smaller than 0!!! }
I think I'm going about this in the wrong manner, however this is the only way I can think of this working... (since I need to be able to dynamically create these events)
I'm trying to create a flash program that uses it's own code to send and create images. Each square has a colour and that colour gets added into the array. A black, then grey, then white is:
filecode = ["Bl", "Gr", "Wh"];
That works fine, but when I try to paste it into an Input text box it will only fill in the first part of the array.
filecode = ["Bl,Gr,Wh"];
So the program has NO idea what I want.The only ways I can think of fixing this is by putting in 402 text boxes to suit every box...But every one of them needs a Variable Name.Or by sending the information straight into the array. But this way you are just looking at what you just drew, and that is not at ALL practical.
At the moment I create an onEnterFrame function to ease a movie clip into view. I then delete it. I want to be able to recreate a similar onEnter Frame function later to swoosh the movie clip out of view. At the moment weird things happen when I try and do the second onEnterFrame.I know I could put this all in the original onEnterFrame, but I don't wanna be wasting processor time doing an if statement every frame to work out if it's time to swoosh out the movieclip. Or should I not worry because that's negligible cpu time?
I've been playing around with custom classes. My objective was to create a custom class (Testing) that would create a box when an instance of the class is created. I've tried three different approaches, however only (3) seems to be showing up. I'm just curious why (1) or (2) doesn't work?
Also is there a better approach than (3)? Since at the moment it's been created on _root. I hope the box can only be accessible through the instance. Since I'd like to incorporate the whole idea of public, private, encapsulation, etc.
create a rollover button that once hovered over would create the snow and once 'un-hovered over' (<---:s) the snow would stop falling. I tried creating the button but kept getting errors etc.... Im a total noob (been using flash for about 1 month) if you could give us a hand that would be great....
I am trying to do is create an "app" with flash that will allow an employee of the company to create there business card on the fly. The business card templates will have been pre approved and uploaded into the "system". The employee will be able to choose the card template that he likes the most and edit information on the card template such as Full Name, Title, Office Number, Cell Number, Fax Number, and Email. After he inputs his own information onto this template he will have the option to save the file as a pdf file, that will be used to print his business cards.
I'm new to Flash AS3. I started making a game and I am a bit confused. Let's assume that I want to create a game that has multiple levels/modes, how can I do this in an object orientated way?
When i create games in other languages e.g. XNA C#, i create a separate class then create an object of that class within the main class and run the game based on a simple statement.
I wish to create SWF (Flash) files with PHP but what is the best option for that nowadays? When I use Google I find all kinds of old pages about this subject, but not much is happening in this field lately, it seems..Ming is no longer part of PHP 5.3, and I can't figure out how to install it with PECL.('pecl install ming' doesn't work... but neither does any pecl package I try, so I guess I do it all wrong...)Is anybody actually using PHP to create SWF's or is this a bad idea anyway?
I know this is not flash oriented but after i make my flash website i copy the files into the www folder on my linux webhosting service and the index page loads when anyone uses the website url. Now if i want to have a second website at the same url how do i add a second domain ? my hosting service shows im allowed a max of 5 subdomains. me just where to put the second sites files including its own index file and how should the url be spelt to access the second site ?
There will be a "pool" of SWF files- I would like to create a "shell" swf that will load an external XML file that will determine which of the files in the "pool" the shell will play. I guess this would be called an XML-driven SWF playlist.Forgive me if my terminology is rather primitive- again, I'm new to XML (I'm an animator by trade.)
i am trying to create a pdf.... of data i requested thorugh php.or any other method by which i can get the output in a file so that i can easily print it and save for my records.
