Here's a few instances I see on my mac. Quite different from the screenshots we can see on its wiki:
Warning: 'flash' has no property 'prototype'
Warning: 'StageVideo' has no property 'prototype'
Warning: 'AsBroadcaster' has no property 'addListener'
Warning: 'AsBroadcaster' has no property 'removeListener'
Warning: 'flash' has no property 'prototype'

I can now see VizzyTrace.swc is required for many vizzy functionality. But even after considering all that (and enabling debug flag on the FLA, replacing trace for trc, setting up the "extra options" and adding the SWC) I still see nothing.
Now every trc line is prepended with an almost useless (I can control traces just all right and easily induce where they came from) file name and line number under Flash Professional's own output when I "Test Movie" but not even then will Vizzy show those lines. Not to say after the SWF is compiled and I'm tracing on the browser.

i have the correct path in Flash Tracer's settings (C:Documents and SettingsAdministratorApplication DataMacromediaFlash PlayerLogsflashlog.txt) as well as the mm.cfg file in C:Documents and SettingsAdministrator.

Jun 16, 2011I have this situation where i'm trying to save "chat logs" while people switch around views in my flex mobile application..so, my plan is i'm starting out with a main object that I plan to re-use as the main chat log object..I call it textObjso, when someone new wants to chat my plan is to make a new object with the persons username.so how if i were to get the username from something like data.username how could I translate that into the var name of the object I want to make? Jan 22, 2010We are developing our app in flash/flex builder for the front end hitting .NET backend webservices. There is one section of the old app that will not be initially converted, so we need have it appear in an iFrame.
So far all that works fine.We shrink the size of the SWF in the host page to just be the menu/nav area. And underneat that I have an iframe control that loads in this page from the old site.Now the problem. in the SWF is a drop down list to enable picking a client. Since the SWF has been shrunk to about 100px high, the drop-down will only occupy within that 100px area which it's opened. This is NOT good as you can imagine. How can I make the drop-down list descend over-top of the IFRAME control and thus extend outside the SWF dimensions? Is this possible?
I tried to make the internal stage transparent and leave the SWF a little larger, about 400 px high, but the IFRAME still appears behind the SWF.
Flash :: Any Way To Morph An Object In Flex 4?
Aug 17, 2011I'm wondering if anyone has experience morphing an object from one skin/image/etc to another?What I want to do is have an icon morph into another image went it goes into a dragging state. Much like how icons morph into their widgets when you add widgets to the mac dashboard. Any way to get this to work would be helpful, including using the Flex 4.5 sdk or an external library for Actionscript.

Flash :: Displaying Flex Object References
Jun 10, 2010I have a bit of a memory leak issue in my Flex application, and the short version of my question is: is there any way (in AcitonScript 3) to find all live references to a given object? What I have is a number of views with presentation models behind each of them (using Swiz). The views of interest are children of a TabNavigator, so when I close the tab, the view is removed from the stage. When the view is removed from the stage, Swiz sets the model reference in the view to null, as it should. I also removeAllChildren() from the view.
However when profiling the application, when I do this and run a GC, neither the view nor the presentation model are freed (though both set their references to each other to null). One model object used by the view (not a presenter, though) IS freed, so it's not completely broken. I've only just started profiling today (firmly believing in not optimising too early), so I imagine there's some kind of reference floating around somewhere, but I can't see where, and what would be super helpful would be the ability to debug and see a list of objects that reference the target object. Is this at all possible, and if not natively, is there some light-weight way to code this into future apps for debugging purposes?
Flash :: Using DrawLine On UIComponent Object In Flex?

The problem is that although I have all renderPoint segments etc. The line never gets drawn or it never gets displayed. I think this might be because of some Flex thing that is not so obvious.

Flex :: Dynamic Object Layouts In Flash?
Sep 6, 2011I have a general Flash question. I have got 2 .SWF wrappers (Playbook and Android,that work perfectly) that takes any .SWF file and wraps it up as an application. I'm hoping to make 1 application and have it run on both the Blackberry Playbook and any Android device.Technically everything is perfect but the problem I am having is with the layout.For example if an object is placed at x= 512 y=400 then it looks great on the Playbook but that looks horrible on an Android screen thats not 1024x800px. What I want to be able to do is something like (x=DeviceWidth/2), (y= DeviceHeight/2) so that it resizes and repositions itself automatically. I put my XML as a property on a generic object, and send it as part of a POST request. But in the Restlet webservice, this XML is irretrievable. How do I retrieve it? I tried initialising the received Representation object to a DomRepresentation, but thats not working. If I put the received Representation object into a Form object, then getFirstValue is returning that XML as a string! I noticed that the contentType of the HTTPService was application/www-form-encoded so I set it to application/xml and its not helping either. I use restlet 2.0m6 and here is the code snippet that I use -

Flex :: Move Shape Object Across Screen- Initial Object Remains
Jun 25, 2011I am trying to move a 'Shape' object across the screen. As the object moves, a copy is being left at the initial position. Almost as if only an instance of original object ahs been moved
This is not an issue for moving an image or MXML graphic. Is something wrong in setting to the move object?

May 22, 2009I'm working on Flex component which can be resized using handles on the right and left (that is, if you click and drag the left side, the component will grow to the left, if you click and drag on the right, it will grow to the right).
Right now I am using:

this.width += oldX - this.x; // Increase the width to compensate for the move to the left
But that makes the right side jump around, and generally looks ugly.
What is the "right" to do this? Is there something fundamental I've gotten wrong?
Edit: The jitter occurs on the right side of the component. When I set this.x, the component moves to the left, the screen redraws, then the width is updated, and the screen redraws again.

Flex :: Flash Player 10.1 Crash On Shared Object Access
Jun 14, 2010since updating my Flash Player plugin from 10 to 10.1, I'm seeing a weird crash when accessing shared objects. Flex Builder's debugger pops up and prints a stack trace like this:

This happens when calling SharedObject.getLocal("someString") for the second time for the same string, though it doesn't always crash. When using another browser on the same machine (not configured as the preferred debugging browser in Flex Builder), Flash Player remains silent. The code is wrapped in a try/catch(Error) block which does not catch this error. I'm using Flex SDK 3.5 and Flex Builder 3 on Mac OS X 10.6.3.

Nov 10, 2010I am using swfLoader to load external flash movies in my flex/actionscript code. If the loaded swf was made for the newer flash player versions (I believe 9.0 or more) it loads as a flash.display.MovieClip object which has methods for play/pause and go to frame. However if the loaded swf was made for older flash player (I believe 6.0) then it loads as flash.display.av1movie which doesn't have methods for play/pause. Is there a way I can play / pause the av1movie from my flex code.

Flex :: Flash Builder - AdvancedDataGrid DataField - Use A Subarray Or Object?
Aug 5, 2011I have an advanced data grid in flex (flash builder 4). It's dataProvider is pointing to an ArrayCollection (this._encounters). Inside that array collection is a property that is an object (a client object).
I tried setting the dataField to "clientObj.firstName" to refer to the first name property within the clientObj property of the this._encounters array collection. It did not show anything. So, I added a labelFunction to that column (code below) to set the text in the cell. This works fine and now I have values showing in the grid.
The problem is now when I click the title of column to sort it. It throws an error that property clientObj.firstName is not found in my array collection!So, is there a better way to set the dataField / source for a column and point at a property in a sub-object -- or a way to fix the sort?

In the mxml above, this is the changed line - notice the stringSortByField added:

If it were a numeric field use the numericSortByField. If it were a date string from a database, use the dateSortByField function instead.
