View 1 RepliesLet's say I have a class which looks like this :
public class MyClass
{
public var attribute1;
public var attribute2;
}
and I'd like to get attribute1 and attribute2 as strings. I tried this :
var test:MyClass = new MyClass();
for (var key:String in test)
{
trace(test[key]);
}
but it does not work, it never goes in the loop. How can I do what I want to do ?
I have 2 classes, Display holds the currently selected Component:
public class Display
{
public static var selectedComponent:Component;
}
Component has an ID string and the selectedComponent variable is set on click:
public class Component extends MovieClip
{
public var id:String;
addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, function() {
[Code]...
Removing the selectedComponent variable type so it reads public static var selectedComponent; removes the conversion error and seems to change the ID variable but it appears to only be a copy of the object.
I want to capture a change in a property of an item as follows
myItem.addEventListener(PropertyChangeEvent.PROPERTY_CHANGE,listener);
protected function listener(event:PropertyChangeEvent):void {
}
[code]....
Maybe i didn't get the real meaning of the ArrayCollection, but first of all some code

I am dynamically creating a number of objects (movieclips) which all have a number of attributes.[code]and so on. i.e sub attributes. I don't think this is possible? Only sprite and movieclips can have dynamic attributes so unless atrbY is a movieclip (which it isn't, it's a string) it isn't allowed?Each object can have suboptions with further attributes associated with the chosen suboption.Later in the program I will manipulate, read and interact with the objects and they have text display behaviours dependent on the suboption chosen. That part (should) be straightforward! heh. One the object has the attributes attached in a usable format, accessing them should be simple.This will be for a store. i.e t-shirt1 has size small, price 10, size medium, price 12, size large, price 14. t-shirt2 has size medium, price 35, size large, price 40 and so on.[code]
This format of the XML can be adjusted if it would make the parsing easier.I am currently reading the XML in, stepping through, grabbing the individual parameter such as category and then adding it as an attribute of the object and it works fine. i.e. I end up with obj.category = 'catname'. However, on suboptions I am having a problem.Should I put all the suboptions in a multidimensional array and use nested loops to apply them to the object?I would still have the problem of objX.suboptionarray[Y].suboptionprice which isn't allowed? In the above XML case Y would be 0,1 and 2 giving 3 suboptions to objX and each suboptions would hold attributes such as pvid associated with that suboption.I could go down the horrible route, obj1.suboption1subptionprice ; obj1.suboption1suboptionpname; obj1.suboption1suboptionvalue; obj1.suboption2suboptionprice; obj1.suboption2suboptionpname and so on and so on for each suboption which could be five options (small,medium,large,x-large, xx-large) and which would "work" but would be bad programming and involve splicing names to get say, the "third" suboptions' price and pvid e.t.c
Going down the route of mutidimensional arrays sounds good except that on say 50 objects I would have stacks of arrays which I'm guessing isn't great in terms of resources?.Just to add, the number of suboptions varies between object, every object has a minimum of one suboption (default option) but can have as many as needed (unlikely to be more than 5 but should be scalable). i.e some t-shirts only come in medium whereas some have many sizes.I have a fair amount of leeway on the format of the XML which I generate from the database so the formatting of that could change to make the parsing easier.
Allright, i receive a string and want to convert it to object. here a test that i have made:
[code]....
this work pretty fine... but i am receiving the object property as follow: "{a:'test',b:'testAgain'}" How can i easily convert it to object properties?
How to convert flex date object to sql date and time, I am using AMFPHP to connect with mysql.
View 2 RepliesWould anyone happen to know how to change attributes like .z, .rotationZ, rotationY etc on a created MovieClip/Sprite or whatever. Because when I create a new mc or sprite and try to change these attributes the object just disappeares.
View 7 RepliesI'm using zend_amf and flex. My problem is i have to populate my advance datagrid using array collection. this array collection have a children.[code]...
View 1 RepliesThe solution should be straight forward but I cannot find it, my problem it's that I'm reading a xml, and one of the properties inside the xml it's a Bitmap path(string), when I`m reading this xml I would like to convert this string to a Bitmap Obj so I can use through my MXMLs.
View 4 RepliesI'm trying to dynamically addChild a Sprite to an already tweened MovieClip (tweened on the Flash timeline).
Let's say ObjectA is the tweened object, I published it in my swc and linked it to my Actionscript project in Flash Builder. I make an instance of ObjectA in my class, and then try to do the following:
var objectA:ObjectA = new ObjectA();
var objectB:ObjectB = new ObjectB();
objectA.addChild(objectB);
addChild(objectA);
Now, the problem is, objectB doesn't tween along with objectA. Is there any logical solution to this?
I've created and XML object that's working fine and I want the user to be able to add to the XML dynamically, using an input text field and appendChild() So, what is the syntax to use so that I can put in the text they enter as an attribute of a node of my current XML object? Here's what I've got for adding to the XML (stripped down obviously):
ActionScript Code:
var xmlData:XML = new XML();
var clientToAdd:String = userInput.text;
xmlData.appendChild(<project name=clientToAdd></project>);
How can I take the variable clientToAdd and make it the attribute "name" of the "project" node?
how can I add attributes to a Display Object, that I have created in the Authoring Tool, so I can acces it by:
myDisplayObjectInstance.myNewAttribute
Is a DisplayObejct a dynamic class, that can be extended from anywhere?
I'm trying to create a dynamicly named object.
something like
private var myVar:String = "dynamicName";
private var [myVar+"staticName"]:Object = new Object;
but what i wrote above dosn't work for some reason.
I have this situation where i'm trying to save "chat logs" while people switch around views in my flex mobile application..so, my plan is i'm starting out with a main object that I plan to re-use as the main chat log object..I call it textObjso, when someone new wants to chat my plan is to make a new object with the persons username.so how if i were to get the username from something like data.username how could I translate that into the var name of the object I want to make? So in the end i end up with.[code]
View 2 RepliesIm trying to connect a Flash client to BlazeDS. There has been some success with this from others using the vanilla BlazeDS setup. However I'm using the new Spring BlazeDS Integration from springsource and running aground. The flash client actually seems to be working in that I can see the correct data in the body of the returned object, but for some reason unknown it fails casting as an IMessage. It fails in PollingChannel.as on this line with the subject line error
var messageList:Array = msg.body as Array;
for each (var message:IMessage in messageList) <--
On application load I register a whole bunch of classes like so
registerClassAlias( "flex.messaging.messages.RemotingMessage", RemotingMessage );
registerClassAlias("mx.messaging.messages.IMessage", IMessage);
etc..
my code is basically
var channelSet:mx.messaging.ChannelSet = new mx.messaging.ChannelSet();
var channel:mx.messaging.channels.AMFChannel = new AMFChannel("my-amf", "http://localhost:8400/SpringA/messagebroker/amf");
channelSet.addChannel(channel);
[code]....
I have a flex client which works 100% with same destination/channel.
I have a legacy file format that contains sounds embedded in it (in various encodings). I would like to be able to play these sounds in Flash (Air?) by reading the sound bytes out of the file and instantiating a Sound object with them.
If the sound is unencoded (e.g., raw pcm), I've found that I can use the new flex 4 SampleDataEvent.SAMPLE_DATA event to play the sound.
However, if the sound is encoded (e.g., mp3), then I'm at a loss. The sound expected by SampleDataEvent.SAMPLE_DATA has to be raw pcm. From what I've seen, encoded Sounds can only be instantiated by [Embed]ing them, or by using a URLRequest with Sound.load().
I have a Tree, which has an itemRenderer. On the itemRenderer, driven by the XML conditions, objects are created dynamically and added as a children to nodes. These new objects shall trigger an event handler ( some click events mostly ). How do I pass the event handler to the tree and later to the dynamically created new objects inside itemRendere?
Something like:
<mx:Tree x="534" y="49" newObjectsOnClick="newObjectsOnClickHandler">
I am developing an application with Flex for the GUI and Restlet for the webservices. I have a strange problem. I put my XML as a property on a generic object, and send it as part of a POST request. But in the Restlet webservice, this XML is irretrievable. How do I retrieve it? I tried initialising the received Representation object to a DomRepresentation, but thats not working. If I put the received Representation object into a Form object, then getFirstValue is returning that XML as a string! I noticed that the contentType of the HTTPService was application/www-form-encoded so I set it to application/xml and its not helping either. I use restlet 2.0m6 and here is the code snippet that I use -

I've got a php backend which delivers a time (e.g. '07:00:00'). This time is recognized as a string but I need it as a Date. So what I need is: Convert a string '07:00:00' to a Flex Date object. Is there a way to do this (without using regular expressions)?
View 2 RepliesI am trying to move a 'Shape' object across the screen. As the object moves, a copy is being left at the initial position. Almost as if only an instance of original object ahs been moved
This is not an issue for moving an image or MXML graphic. Is something wrong in setting to the move object?
The code is as follows
private var arrow:UIComponent;
private function resetAssets():void{
arrow = new UIComponent();
[Code].....
We create Objects in flex by declaring type Object. for example
var objSampleObject:Object = new Object();
and we create properties directly with dot operator without creating any class
[Code].....
My question is in above process is there any class is created internally by flex?
Is it possible to have a Button object in a column in an AdvancedDataGrid object in flex 4?

I think i am lost with basics itself. What is the difference between these two. String object is an instance of String Class.

is there a way in action to group to object so when one object is drag across the screen the other object sticks with it, im using flash btw
View 6 RepliesSo I have this Photo class than handles loading a pic, and dispatches an event when the loading is done with:[code]which is simple and works, but now I'd like to make something more advanced. I'd like to dispatch the load ratio.So far I have extended the Event class, with my own EventRatio class, and I can put properties on that class. Which is cool, but I need something more dynamic than just sending a fixed value.So, what is the best way to connect the Loader object of the Photo object, with the EventRatio object?
