I'm wondering if anyone has experience morphing an object from one skin/image/etc to another?What I want to do is have an icon morph into another image went it goes into a dragging state. Much like how icons morph into their widgets when you add widgets to the mac dashboard. Any way to get this to work would be helpful, including using the Flex 4.5 sdk or an external library for Actionscript.

Trying to get a square to change to different shapes when you select a button from the menu, it changes from one size to the next. Can anyone help me find a way to get this done, I am more on the designer side of the board but trying to do the back ground work. It need to change shape back and forth no matter which button is selected, without it looking like there is a hitch in the morphing of the square

View 2 RepliesWe are developing our app in flash/flex builder for the front end hitting .NET backend webservices. There is one section of the old app that will not be initially converted, so we need have it appear in an iFrame.
So far all that works fine.We shrink the size of the SWF in the host page to just be the menu/nav area. And underneat that I have an iframe control that loads in this page from the old site.Now the problem. in the SWF is a drop down list to enable picking a client. Since the SWF has been shrunk to about 100px high, the drop-down will only occupy within that 100px area which it's opened. This is NOT good as you can imagine. How can I make the drop-down list descend over-top of the IFRAME control and thus extend outside the SWF dimensions? Is this possible?
I tried to make the internal stage transparent and leave the SWF a little larger, about 400 px high, but the IFRAME still appears behind the SWF.

I have a bit of a memory leak issue in my Flex application, and the short version of my question is: is there any way (in AcitonScript 3) to find all live references to a given object? What I have is a number of views with presentation models behind each of them (using Swiz). The views of interest are children of a TabNavigator, so when I close the tab, the view is removed from the stage. When the view is removed from the stage, Swiz sets the model reference in the view to null, as it should. I also removeAllChildren() from the view.
However when profiling the application, when I do this and run a GC, neither the view nor the presentation model are freed (though both set their references to each other to null). One model object used by the view (not a presenter, though) IS freed, so it's not completely broken. I've only just started profiling today (firmly believing in not optimising too early), so I imagine there's some kind of reference floating around somewhere, but I can't see where, and what would be super helpful would be the ability to debug and see a list of objects that reference the target object. Is this at all possible, and if not natively, is there some light-weight way to code this into future apps for debugging purposes?
I've been trying to draw a series of points using a UIComponent using:

The problem is that although I have all renderPoint segments etc. The line never gets drawn or it never gets displayed. I think this might be because of some Flex thing that is not so obvious.

I have a general Flash question. I have got 2 .SWF wrappers (Playbook and Android,that work perfectly) that takes any .SWF file and wraps it up as an application. I'm hoping to make 1 application and have it run on both the Blackberry Playbook and any Android device.Technically everything is perfect but the problem I am having is with the layout.For example if an object is placed at x= 512 y=400 then it looks great on the Playbook but that looks horrible on an Android screen thats not 1024x800px. What I want to be able to do is something like (x=DeviceWidth/2), (y= DeviceHeight/2) so that it resizes and repositions itself automatically. View 1 RepliesI am developing an application with Flex for the GUI and Restlet for the webservices. I have a strange problem. I put my XML as a property on a generic object, and send it as part of a POST request. But in the Restlet webservice, this XML is irretrievable. How do I retrieve it? I tried initialising the received Representation object to a DomRepresentation, but thats not working. If I put the received Representation object into a Form object, then getFirstValue is returning that XML as a string! I noticed that the contentType of the HTTPService was application/www-form-encoded so I set it to application/xml and its not helping either. I use restlet 2.0m6 and here is the code snippet that I use -

I am trying to move a 'Shape' object across the screen. As the object moves, a copy is being left at the initial position. Almost as if only an instance of original object ahs been moved
This is not an issue for moving an image or MXML graphic. Is something wrong in setting to the move object?

I've recently just started delving into both actionscript and flex...the main reason being I like to create a sortable datagrid or datagroup like thishere you click the main entry that already has some detail and the row expands to show more.It might be possible to do with an itemrenderer but for the life of me I cant seem to find any tutorial or source or demo that doesn't assume you already know what to do with the itemrenderer since you cant just drop them in and have them work it seems.
View 2 RepliesI'm working on Flex component which can be resized using handles on the right and left (that is, if you click and drag the left side, the component will grow to the left, if you click and drag on the right, it will grow to the right).
Right now I am using:

this.width += oldX - this.x; // Increase the width to compensate for the move to the left
But that makes the right side jump around, and generally looks ugly.
What is the "right" to do this? Is there something fundamental I've gotten wrong?
Edit: The jitter occurs on the right side of the component. When I set this.x, the component moves to the left, the screen redraws, then the width is updated, and the screen redraws again.

since updating my Flash Player plugin from 10 to 10.1, I'm seeing a weird crash when accessing shared objects. Flex Builder's debugger pops up and prints a stack trace like this:

This happens when calling SharedObject.getLocal("someString") for the second time for the same string, though it doesn't always crash. When using another browser on the same machine (not configured as the preferred debugging browser in Flex Builder), Flash Player remains silent. The code is wrapped in a try/catch(Error) block which does not catch this error. I'm using Flex SDK 3.5 and Flex Builder 3 on Mac OS X 10.6.3.
Can I use the webservice wizards in Flash Builder 4 to send a json encoded object...not as a string but as type application/json; charset=UTF-8
