ActionScript 2.0 :: Creating Grid With Given Width / Height And Spacing
Feb 28, 2006
I just want to create a grid, this is the script:
MovieClip.prototype.drawRect = function(w, h) {
this.beginFill(0x006699, 100);
this.moveTo(0, 0);
this.lineTo(0+w, 0);
this.lineTo(0+w, 0+h);
this.lineTo(0, 0+h);
[Code] .....
I am trying to make a Grid that is equal to the width and the height of the flash movie. I have a movieclip called box which is 30x30, and want it to repead along the x to form columns and along the y to form rows so that it makes a big rectangle of smaller squares. For some reason it looks like this:
I am trying to reference to top level (stage) width and height of the main stage for the placement of something located inside a movieclip on the stage.
My code is: Code: my_loader.x = (stage.stageWidth - my_loader.width)/2; my_loader.y = (stage.stageHeight - my_loader.height)/2;
But this seems to just relate to the width/height of the mc that my_loader is nested in...
i am creating 10 Circle movie clips dynamically and giving each of them a width and height random from 1 to 50, I am creating these CELLS to react to eachother in an environment that I create, well anyway everything is going good but this, SPEED
i would like the smallest cells to have a speed of .05 and from then on the larger the cell the smaller the speed, Every ... property i guess you could say... of the cell is proportional to it's width.
I would like to use a movieclip to load a flv video. The problem I have is that I want to change the video dimensions. I've tried several software to change the video dimensions but as far as it seems all of them keep the same height-width ratio than in the original video. Is there any software that would allow me to change the height and width without keeping the same height/width ratio as in the original video file?
I'm created a grid of squares and when the users mouse is within 100 pixels of a square it scales up. This is pretty easy and is code that is widely out online.When a square scales up I need the others to move position accordingly to the new scaled square. This is where I am running into trouble. Here is what I have so far.
Code:
public function updateGridPositions() : void { for (var i:int = 0; i < gridItemsArr.length; i++) {[code]......
I use TweenLite for the tweening engine. Can anyone help in trying to figure out how I can keep the spacing of the grid correct according to the scaling of each item in the grid.

I am looking at the SimpleButton entirely wrong. Here's what I'm doing (inside of a MovieClip):
[Code]...
the close_btn.width and height remain 0. Am I supposed to just rely on the DisplayObject members of the SimpleButton completely and ignore width/height/x/y or what?
I'm building a dynamic menu and am struggling to give the same distance to the text fields with different widths. When I turn on the "autoSize TextFieldAutoSize.LEFT" some text fields are overlapped, and, aligned when I turn off, but, they all get the same size (100px by default - dont know why), which makes the distance between them unequal.
Here is the code:
Actionscript Code: // main timeline objectvar index:Object=this;// New Xml Objectvar fileXml:XML;// check how many menu items we have.var totalMenuItems:Number;// Main Menu Propertiesvar spacing:int=5;var menuItem_txt:TextField;// New URL Requestvar xmlLoader:URLLoader=new URLLoader(new

i've been hacking away at this and can't seem to get it...i need to close the space between the date,pipe_mc and title fields and can't seem to figure out how to do it right...
Code: var pipe_mc:MovieClip = new PipeMC(); pipe_mc.y = 1;
I have the following AS2 code which creates dynamic buttons based on an array:
Code: var labels_array:Array = new Array({label_txt:">> arquitectura industrial", gotoX:"partners"}, {label_txt:">> edificaciļæ½n", gotoX:"team"}); var initX:Number = 0;
[Code]....
the variable nextX places a new button every given number of pixels, in this case 140px. What I'll like to do is to make this value dynamic so that a new button is placed taking into account the width of the preceding button, plus a certain number of pixels.
I want to create animation of the text where at frame 1, letter spacing is 0 and at frame 200, letter spacing is 60 for specified text. This process is unsuccessful via motion tween in cs4 flash, and i guess neither in earlier versions, nor that I have done that before. But I was certain that it would be very straight forward to achieve via motion tween, so far it feels that I was wrong and for such simple animation and straight forward concept, why it doesn't work, again, via motion tween. I presume I can write AS3 code spinet that would run every frame and increase or decrease property value for letterSpacing, to achieve the effect. Why such basic manipulation of text can not be done via motion tween?
I took a look around this forum and found some answers on how to create an animation in Flash where letter spacing is increased from around 0 to 15. In other words, the letters in a word seem to be expanding outward. Unfortunately, all of the answers I found involved Action Scripting. I'm new to Flash and have not used AS. Is there anyway to do this using a regular tween?
I'm using a mx.containers.Grid to layout some data, and the last column is a set of checkboxes. MXML Code snippet:[code]Basically, I want the labels & text values to align however the Grid component sees fit. However, I'd like the checkboxes to be right-aligned. I've tried setting the width of the textValues to 100% and it does nothing. I don't want to use hard-coded pixel values/canvases/etc because it is important that this is easy to change/update.
I have a flash banner graphic that I created at 1000px wide by 420px tall. I want this to be fluid and fill the browser width, so that when the browser is rescaled the swf fills the horizontal space. My problem is that there is content below it that needs to touch it, but the height is trying to fill 100% so it is creating vertical space between the flash content and the div below it.
I guess a better way to describe it is that I don't want to define the height I just want the width to be 100%. At 100% height there is unused space so I need to make the height maybe undefined or something smaller then 100%?Also, if you make the browser too small vertically the width will not fill. So I want 100% width regardless of the browser height.
I'm trying to change the position of a movieclip I've added to the stage. When I try to access stage.width or stage.height I get 0. I've tried MovieClip(root).stage, DisplayObject(root).stage, root.stage, stage, and simply width and height. All of these are equal to zero.
I want to write a shell that creates instances of an app and scales it down for animating. Well, I created my shell class and instanced the app and set scales for x and y and then I traced the height and width because I wasn't sure what they'd be. I thought they'd be based on the stuff on the stage or whatever, but they both came up zero. So I'm not sure how that works, am I supposed to have set those values?
I have an empty movieclip in the stage that holds a backgroundbg._width = Stage.width;bg._height = Stage.height;the background is loaded from XML and works fine since I'm not set the width and heightbut if I set: bg._width = Stage.width and bg._height = Stage.height
I have two Canvas A and B, A is the child of B.A can be resized by some user actions like adding some UI components to its base.A is bounded by an other Parent canvas B which should show scolling handles if its child A gets too large.I would like A to have the same width and height of B (or really close) while the calculated width and height of A is smaller than those of B.If w or h of A get larger than those of B then A should grow and B will show scrolling.
I'm a student for design and want to build myself a portfolio, showing pictures and being able to jump between fit_to_screen mode to actual_pixel_size mode. The following code is just the beginning.
I've wrote the code mixing some tutorials (sorry, but I didn't find a good way to clean it so it'll be more focused) - I'm a really new about action script.
myFile is a mc waiting for an external parameter run_url - a string contains something like "/projects/illustration/alice_in_wonderland.jpg"
You can see the trace command marked as red. I'd expect it to give me a number of the movie clip's width, yet i get "undefined"
import mx.utils.Delegate; var streamingID:Number; var fileLoaded:Boolean;
