ActionScript 2.0 :: Dynamic Text Mask Not Working?

i have the AS setting the mask, and my fonts are embedded.. but the dynamic text doesnt mask my other movieclip.my dynamic text is "fly_in" MC with the text field inside. the MC label is: "headerTxt_mask" the sheen is labeled "sheenMC" and put in a layer below "headerTxt_mask" in the same "fly_in" MC then on the first frame of my scene i have:

fly_in.sheenMC.setMask(fly_in.headerTxt_mask);
The dynamic txt field is supposed to be the mask for the sheen, so all you see is the sheen...

i have an object that that I would like to apply a mask to like:
myObject.mask = theMask
this works fine but when I alter the rotationX property like so
myObject.rotationX = 10;
the mask no longer works, any ideas

I am trying to do some text effects by using a text mask but I can't get the mask to work. I can successfully mask a circle over a rectangle, and even mask a rectangle over text, but text over a gradient rectangle just doesn't work - I end up with the rectangle moving across the stage, but no text mask.

i have a dynamic text block which is inside a movie clip, is i grouped with other elements.This movie clip sits behind a mask. when i am in the movie clip i can see the text field, when i am on the root level (and the mask is disabled) i can see the text, but when i preview the movie the text IS GONE or I CAN'T SEE IT.

Hello Flash World, Ok, I may have posted this question before but I am still confused. I have a Master Movie Clip that has a Mask over it. By having that mask I can't view my dynamic text box that is scrollable. How do I embed a font so I can view my dynamic text box? (Im using AS2) attach is a file that explains my problem.

I'm trying to set a mask on a mc containing dynamic text. But, the only thing that are visible, are graphics, not text.
When i remove the mask, the text comes back.
i heard that i have to embed my fonts for that, but how can i do it?

I've been trying to dynamically change some text for a titlebar that is behind a mask
However, I find that when I change the text of the dynamic text field (whose containing movieclip is masked by a graphic), the text no longer appears at all.
When i remove the masking, the text changes properly when asked, but when it it masked, the text does not show at all.

I download "scrollbar_vfinal_2004 from this site and use it my own movie but when I test the movie, the text is not showing. Without text lay mask, the scrollbar works.

I've discovered the joy that you cannot display dynamic text boxes if they are masked.After browsing the internet I found a few things to try, first embedding the font, which I have done, and that didn't work.The other solution involves setting the mask to a display object, which I've done, sort of.I create a Sprite() in code (I use Flex Develop, and never code on the time line), then use the Sprite.graphics to draw the mask, then set my main stage movieClip's .mask property to equal this layer.

I have a dynamic text box and i want to mask it but its not working. i remember once someone was showing me something that had to be done to a dynamic text box to get _alpha effects on them and I wonder if its the same thing. Problem is, I don't know what that "thing" is.

I'm sure this has been asked in some way or another a couple of times before, and sually the first response seems to be..."are your fonts embedded?" Yes, they are. I am using a couple of different tweening classes (it happens with all of them). Basically what I'm doing is a simple sliding in and sliding out animation via the x and y properties of a movieclip. It only happens to a few movieclips, but some (not all) of my dynamic textfields disappear when doing this. When I click in the area that they are supposed to be, it magically appears. I have even tried creating the masks dynamically to stop the bug with no luck. It is very sporadic, but does anyone know/have experience with how to solve this problem?

is it's possible to create a similar effect to this menu:[Url] on a xml loaded text, in Flash. Would I need to create a mask and place it above the text then tween it's x position using tweener? would that work?

I have created a list of MC's with dynamic text via xml to create a list of mc Buttons. All works well as I wanted, but as th elist is too long i want to create a scroller for these, anyway when I apply the mask and test this all the text dissappears, they are there as the links all work but the text seems to have turned invisible, want am i doing worng.
I am creating each mc button dynamically like:

ive gotten one movie clip to mask another in the actions frame but i cant seem to be able to mask the flames which are a shape with a movieclip in this as file. im not getting any errors but the mask isnt covering anything look near the bottom at s.mask=mask_mc; there are about 20 "s" shapes spawning per second if that has anything to do with it

I have this text "my text is <b>bold</b> and regular".
I want "<b>bold</b>" to be... well, let's say... bold !
I have a mask layer under which there is a text field.
The text field shows htmlText, and i must embed chars. If not embedded, it doesn't display because of the mask. So the solution of importing 2 user fonts ( one bold and one regular) does not work.

Text is imported dynamically (xml) and populates to a movie clip which in turns masks other display objects on stage - Great. However, the text populating the field can be korean, and other times, english. I know from testing, latin languages will give the desired effect, but non-latin do not stand a chance. i have tried using _sans and _serif as well, without luck. Embeding Korean/Chinese/Japanese fonts is not an option, since these fonts are HUGE. What's the trick to making a dynamic text field mask?

I have a percentage counter in my preloader which always worked perfectly well in CS3. Now that I've uploaded to CS5 the preloader shows the static text "LOADING" but not the dynamic text with the percentage loaded. I have re-embedded the fonts, get no errors when I publish, and the preloader actually does seem to be working. Why would the dynamic text not show up? I am using Classic Text fields.

My HTML tags are not working in a dynamic text box. Im guessing it is cause of the scrolling and maybe it dosn't see <br> so it dosn't allow them. This is the code i am using below.

Some of the dynamic text fields in my application stopped working. This is part of a major application which I have been working on for a few months. It worked fine until today. 3 different dynamic text fields suddenly do not show text when I set the text from actionscript This is what I tried:
1) Tried with and without text embedding
2) Turned on and off html
3) Tried with .text and .htmlText
4) Removed the TextField and added a new one
5) Added static text into the dynamic TextField and did not add the dynamic text with actionscript --> the initial text appeared I am working with CS3 and recently updated. I am considering deleting Flash and not running the update.

difference but Im using Flas cs5 with AS2. but my clock timer is still behind. Ned, I used your suggestion of putting my dynamic text into a new mc (create sybol method, the only one I know) then I made a new movieclilp named time_mc. I then pasted the actionscript with the 30 minute countdown timer on it. It is still behind. The clouds have to stay on the last depth and the timer has to stay on the top. The rest can go whereever. Not sure what i am doing wrong. I bet Im doing something incorrect but cant figure it out. I kept playing around with codes, but nothing worked. Here is the final non-working code. Working on this issue three days. The timer works if I remove all other layers but it stays hidden once I put them back,

I'm just starting working with AS but I'm a pretty experienced programmer. AS syntax and Adobe Flash are often driving me crazy but usually after hours of days of struggling I get what I want. Not this time though. In the game I'm making I have a global variable that counts your steps. I made a dynamic text field and as its variable I typed: _global.mile And now the fun part.
