ActionScript 2.0 :: Extract Info From String And Add Data To Array

Jun 6, 2008

I know
insideInput = String(xmlNode.childNodes[0].attributes.insider)
virusTarget = insideInput.indexOf("kz", [17]);
endTarget = insideInput.indexOf(".", [virusTarget+2]);
trace("VTTT"+virusTarget)
trace("ET"+ endTarget)
//endTarget = local.indexOf(".", ["vitesting"]);
clipTarget = virusTarget+3;
zebra = insideInput.substring(clipTarget, endTarget);
trace(zebra)
I'm trying extract info from a string, increment through it and add the data to an array. I can't get the startIndex thing to work.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Extract Data From Array?

Jan 15, 2009

The ultimate goal is to create a dynamic slideshow with a variable length, depending on how many pics were submitted by the user. Since the associative array object returned by loadVars does not share the "length" property of indexed arrays, my guess is that the values need to be converted into a new indexed array before being able to use them in the slideshow.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Multidimensional Array - Storing Data In Product Info MC

Mar 14, 2004

Here's my scenario: in my product info MC, user can select from 4 categories which gotoAndStop a nested MC. Each of the 4 categories has 5 hit areas on an "imagemap". The problem that I'm running into is that on each of those hit areas (mc's), I have actionscript - so that's 5 x 4 of essentially the same actionscript. Only difference is text information and _x & _y co-ord's (code is for caption/images boxes) Could I store all that data in an array in the product info MC rather than having 20 blocks of actionscript?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Extract HtmlText To String With Tags?

Feb 15, 2009

I'm working on a textField overflow system for a project at the moment.I cant find a way to return a textField's htmlText complete with the original html tags.The system is used for splitting up a textField above a particular height into two textFields so the side of each other. The system works perfectly with unformatted text, but I cant seem to extract the formatting tags out of the left textField and apply them to the right - all I can get is plain text. (The system uses a StyleSheet by the way - so it is applied to both textFields).I 've tried:

Code:
if (leftField.textHeight > contentHeight) {
//var rightString:String = new String;
var lastLineIndex:int = leftField.getLineIndexAtPoint(10, contentHeight - 5);[code]...........

The commented out code represents the alternative method I've tried (still fails).

ActionScript 3.0 :: Passing String Info Via MovieClip?

Jan 14, 2009

I have 190 movieclips which display various types of information. When a user clicks on a movieclip, it has to tween larger but also send a string to a method. I'll probably e.currentTarget to use one function which contains a tween and I wondered if there was a quick way to pass string info in a similar way?

So, each movieclip has it's own value which can be passed to a method which will use that value. The only way I can think of so far is to have 190 functions which send the string data to the appropriate place. I'm trying to avoid that if I can.

n1_McButton and n2_McButton are two different buttons, but all the other information is the same.Is it possible to write this more efficiently than listing the buttons out separately?]

ActionScript 2.0 :: Putting Data Into An Array Via XML And Then Selecting At Random An Image String To Load In A Pic At Random

Feb 11, 2009

I've been putting data into an array via XML, and then selecting at random an image string to load in a pic at random. But whilst doing this, I wanted to remove the String from the Array that I have just used, so I don't get repetition of the same image in the output. I initially thought that pop would remove the string I had just used - But of course it Removes the last value in the Array instead, which doesn't really help.

Ok - so how about randomizing the data once inside the Array, after it has been pulled in from XML!? That way I can load in the 'last' image, and then pop it out! Keeping a randomized selection of images each time 'it' is loaded

C# :: Programmatically Extract Structured Data From A Bunch Of Web Pages?

Dec 18, 2009

What is the easiest way to programmatically extract structured data from a bunch of web pages? I am currently using an Adobe AIR program I have written to follow the links on one page and grab a section of data off of the subsequent pages. This actually works fine, and for programmers I think this(or other languages) provides a reasonable approach, to be written on a case by case basis. Maybe there is a specific language or library that allows a programmer to do this very quickly, and if so I would be interested in knowing what they are.

Also do any tools exist which would allow a non-programmer, like a customer support rep or someone in charge of data acquisition, to extract structured data from web pages without the need to do a bunch of copy and paste?

ActionScript :: Extract A Subset Of Objects From A Sorted Array 'efficiently'?

Jan 25, 2010

I have a browser-deployed Flash app (not an AIR app with access to SQLConnection) and it fetches JSON results from a remote server via HTTPService. I need to extract subsets from the returned resultset, an array of objects, efficiently. Mutltiple calls through the cloud to the back-end won't do. It all has to happen client-side.Is there any collection class in Flex ActionScript that can sort an array of objects by one of the properties the objects all have in common, like the Array sortOn method, and then also provides a binary search method can extract a subset of objects from the sorted version of the array without visiting every item in the array and comparing?if I have an array of objects and each object had a zip property and a name property, I'd like to be able to extract all objects with zip = 10015 from the a copy of the original array where the copy has been sorted on zip.

I have this:

sound.extract(myByteArray, extract);

myByteArray now contains the stereo data. How can I turn this to mono
