Mar 15, 2003I am using Flash5 to build a site. I have a main page with navigation bar to get around. The word "menu" is sitting on the right of the stage which contains the actions:
on(press) {
gotoandplay("expand")
}
which opens the nav bar on the bottom of screen. This works fine. However, the text was blurry on my site, so I switched the text from static to dynamic text, which solved the blurriness problem.
BUT, after switching the text, I discovered my "menu' button is not behaving as before.
Can one assign actions to dynamic text? If not, what do I do to still have legible text? Again, the menu bar and other links were working fine, but when switched to dynamic text, none of the navigation works.

Mar 23, 2010I have a website that I'm creating an events page for. The intent is to have the text updated dynamically and the ability to create links in the .txt file that start a gallery in flash in a UILoader. The way I have it right now is that the links open a new page, I need to be able to link to the UILoader and specify a certain gallery to show up.I looked everywhere but I can't seem to understand how to do it. I saw that there was asfucntion but as I saw it's no longer in AC3.Here is the link to the page: go to the events page and you'll see what I currently have. The text on the left is dynamic from a txt file this is the content of the file:[code]I need to change the href to something that will trigger flash to load a specific gallery. I have the UILoader in there now and it gets the file that I need. But it's missing the point all together of being dynamic.I could create a function that gets triggered by the href but I've tried it and don't seem to make it work. I'm no programmer I'm a designer, so this is a little over my head. I've just cracked the door on AC3 when I started this website last week & I feel that I've came a long way, but there is a whole lot more learning to do .

Jul 13, 2006I have a script; what it does is is read a numeric variable (projects) from "text.txt" and dynamically attaches a relevant number of movie clips in a row. Each one of these movie clips serves as a simple two frame "button"; frame one is the unselected state, and frame two is the selected state...

anyway, this script works just fine, as is. the variable reads in perfectly, the movie clips attach etc. my problem is this: I want the button that I click to go to its active state. this is no problem as all I have to do is add an onRelease/gotoAndStop() command which is attributed to each button as it is created, as above. my problem is that, say I had a bunch of dynamically generated buttons, when I click one of these buttons I don't know how to tell the other buttons to revert to their inactive states i.e: return to their first frames.

CS3 Assign Specific Actions To Random Dynamic Objects

I use a switch case statement to randomly generate them to the stage;[code]When the user clicks "taskMC", I want to assign behaviors according to which object. If I trace "taskMC" I get the name (object A_Graphic, object B_Graphic etc.)but I can't assign actions to them that way. How do I get object A_Graphic to do one thing, object B_Graphic another thing...?

I mean... loading external text that by clicking on a word or phrase an onRelease action can be assigned to it.
an example I've seen is in tobymac.com in the news menu , the scrapbook section. the text is loaded from external file and it have an action. It works just as any button in flash

When the middle frame is returned to, clicks no longer change anything. I believe that the actions of the 'left' frame are replacing the one's in the middle frame so then it is told to gotoAndStop to itself.
I'd like to know if that is indeed what is happening and how I can make it stop.

1. Create a text box a put it on stage
2. convert it to symbol. It is an instance of volPercent and the name is volPercent_
3. I put this code on the actions for that frame
volPercent_.text = "[100%]";
The error I get is 1120: Access of undefined property volPercent.

May 8, 2011I have started to use input texts and passing them to outputs etc.I was wondering, is there a way in AS2, to, for example if someone enters a value that's between 150 and 200. Accepts it, and the code somehow recognizes the range if value from 150 to 200, perform a function (for example setProperty on something to visible true) a different function would apply if someone enters a value between 100 to 150.

Jun 11, 2005I am trying to make a search interface that behaves much like searching in iTunes and Spotlight in that the list is updated instantly as the user types something in the search field. However, I would like the lines that result to be clickable and to fire actions inside flash (as opposed to launching an URL). Is this possible?I've gotten the basics down. Here's what it looks like and here's the source FLA file. The results are displayed as tabbed lines of text in a single text field. Is there any way to make these lines clickable without replacing this way of displaying the results with multiple, duplicated button/mc-intances?

Jul 28, 2007I have a movie clip instance on the stage called textContainer_mc.
On frame 25 in this mc I have a dynamic text field with an instance name of infoText_txt.
Im trying to access the text field via my actions frame on the root timeline like this;

textContainer_mc.infoText_txt.text="welcome";
The problem is if I put the text field on frame 1 of the textContainer_mc the text field shows but if its on frame 25 it doesnt.
I need it on frame 25 because I want the text to show up after an animation has played.In other words I want the textfield to stall from showing until the animation inside textContainer_mc has finished playing which takes 25frames.

Feb 26, 2005As far as I know theres in no way to cahnge the alpha of a dynamic text box. I put one in a movie clip and when i try to change the alpha of it everything else in it changes its alpha but the not the DT box. I have buttons for my main nav, a main text box, and a mini text box (both text boxes are loaded dynamically from external files). I want to have the mini text box load new external text files in the main text box. For instance, I have a button for music, which loads a list of songs in the mini text box. I want to be able to click on the name of one of the songs and have it load the lyrics in the main text box. I'm sure it's simple, I'm just new.

Nov 28, 2006If you take a look at my flash movie you will see that I have draggable movie clips, which contain dynamic text fields. These text fields contain text drawn in from a simple xml document. The problem I have is that the text in the text fields is hedged right next to the border of the autosized text box. This makes them look untidy and in the worst case difficult to read. I wonder how I can add some margin to the left and right of the text to fill in some space.The code which formats the text boxes is:
