ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash8 Control A Mc Within A SWF Loaded With Loadclip?

Nov 21, 2009

I have the following code:

Code:
_root.TemplateListener = new Object();
_root.TemplateListener.onLoadComplete = function(target_mc:MovieClip):Void
{
trace (_root.mcBalloonBase.mcTemplate); // undefined[code]........

The loaded SWF 'bt_latex10.swf' have an instance named 'mcTemplate' in its stage. Since it is being loaded into a new empty movieclip called 'mcBalloonBase' that is at the stage of main movie, why it is returning undefined? How can I access the 'mcTemplate' after it be loaded?

ActionScript 1/2 :: Using Stop() To Control A Timeline After LoadClip?

Aug 16, 2011

i want to control the timeline of a swf loaded with loadClip command. i wrote this code

var loader:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
loader.addListener(this);
function onLoadComplete(_mc:MovieClip) {
_mc.play()

[Code]....

function pause on a button is used to stop the playback of the loaded movieclip.

strange thing is that stop() works when testing the movie by flash application and playing it from the projector. It DOES NOT WORK when running it from swf directly or by html with swf embedded. I checked lot of time and the name of the "container" is resolved, but the command is not working for its timeline.

ActionScript 1/2 :: Targeting Swf Loaded With LoadClip()?

Feb 7, 2010

Basically, I have a main .swf, into which I am loading another .swf using loadClip(), on the click of a button. It loads into an empty movie clip on the timeline of the main .swf called container_mc. So far so good, this works.

The problem comes when I am trying to control a movie clip that lives on the timeline of the external .swf. This clip has the instance name test_mc, and I'm trying to control it using the reference _level0.container_mc.test_mc. I have also tried just plain old container_mc.test_mc.

Neither of these work, though when I apply a trace to test_mc with Actionscript on the timeline of the external swf (test_mc.onRelease = function () { trace(this); }), it returns the path _level0.container_mc.test_mc (when clicked on after being loaded into the main movie, obviously).

ActionScript 2.0 :: Targeting Swf Loaded With LoadClip()

I'm having a really weird problem with loadClip(), using Actionscript 2.0. Basically, I have a main .swf, into which I am loading another .swf using loadClip(), on the click of a button. The problem comes when I am trying to control a movie clip instance that lives on the timeline of the external .swf. This clip has the instance name test_mc, and I'm trying to control it using the reference _level0.container_mc.test_mc. I have also tried just plain old container_mc.test_mc.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Transparent PNG Image Loaded With LoadClip

Feb 11, 2009

I want to load a PNG image using loadClip() and place it into a movieclip. After the image is loaded I set an event handler, in this case onPress. Now my problem is that the onPress event activates whereever I click on this loaded PNG image. All I want it to do is to only fire the event if I press on a non-transparent area of the PNG image. In the end, I want to load a background image and put this PNG image over it. The PNG image shall act like a mask which tells the background image where I can click and where I'm not supposed to. But before I can do that I need to recognize transparent areas of an imported PNG image.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Detecting When LoadClip Has Loaded Its Image?

Aug 24, 2009

I'm working on an image pre-loader where i get the images i want from their respective url's, and once finished, proceeding to the next page. I have gotten it to load the images as i want/need, through lines of code similar to this:

Code:
var loader:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
this.createEmptyMovieClip("imgcont",1);
loader.loadClip("*url to img goes here*",imgcont);

All i'm looking to find is how many of my images have loaded completely. At first, i thought that getBytesLoaded() and getBytesTotal() would have been able to help me, but it seems that the images brought in through loadClip has no weight on how much has been loaded.

Is there any way of determining how much of those images has been loaded?

ActionScript 2.0 :: [Flash8] Assigning Link ID To A Loaded Image?

Feb 13, 2006

I've been trying to figure out a way to assign a link ID to a loaded image so that I can then attach that clip to various other nested movieclips.

If I load the image into an empty movieclip on the stage that already has a link ID in the library and then try to attach that movieclip to another one using its link ID, it will attach the empty clip from the library and not the one on the stage with my loaded image in it.

This problem has come up from wanting to preload images (using a loading array) but then wanting to attach these images to dynamically generated clips later on, that are nested deep within my movie.

I know that i could load in swfs (with link IDs) instead of jpegs, but I need updates to the site to simply require images added to a folder, rather than a whole lot of swfs with Link IDs created.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash8 - Control A Movie Clip Of One Swf File From Another Swf File

Nov 30, 2010

I am working on a project which there are two .swf file play side by side simultaneously. I need to use one of the file to control the animation in another file.

If they are in same .swf it should be easy. I can just use:

gotoAndPlay("frameNumber")

but there are two .swf now. (lets say movieA and movieB) I think I should use something like:

"LinkToMovieB".gotoAndPlay("frameNumber")

"LinkToMovieB" should be the link to movie clip in the movieB file.

my problem is how do I get the link to movie B's movie clip. or there is other proper way to do this task.

ActionScript 2.0 :: [Flash8] Place An External Swf File On It In A Desired Position When The Corresponding Page Is Being Loaded + Scaling

Aug 18, 2006

I have a flash file (a flash navigation bar actually, which gets loaded in all the webpages inside the website). What I am trying to do is place an external swf file on it in a desired position when the corresponding page is being loaded. I am using FlashVars (variable name -> 'movieName') to pass the name of the movie clips. These variables are read by the navigation swf file and the corresponding swf file should be loaded in the area specified. Now, to create a container, I am using createEmptyMovieClip() method which will host all the external swf files.

The swf files are all being loaded but with a lot of problems. First, no matter what I try, the swf file comes at a fixed place (which is way off from where it is supposed to be). I have tried checking if the container loaded the movie before fixing its position but it changed nothing. Although it did change the position of a weird background colour box I am getting when the movie starts loading - which brings me to the second problem.

A rectangular box flashes once when the external swf is loaded, and its position is being affected by whatever I am setting the _x & _y values of the container movies to. I have no idea why it is happening as it doesn't happen when I test that swf seperately.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Control The Loaded Swf?

Dec 16, 2008

I want to load a swf into my main movie but it won't work as I want it to. Seperatly both files work fine and even the main movie works fine when loading the external swf. When loaded the external swf doesn't as it should and I get the error-message "TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at port_ill_fla::MainTimeline/frame1()"...

Now, I know the problem have to be in the external swf since I've asked it to trace the result in the "for..var" method I use to create thumbs that works as buttons, but it only returns 0 when it should pƄ at least 9.I don't know why it seems to be a problem as the main movie also are able load other external swf-files without any problems at all.theese files doesn't contain any actionscript triggering events in theese files, etc. Anyway, here is the code for the main movie:

var portUrl:URLRequest = new URLRequest();
var portLoader:Loader = new Loader();
function portCompl(Ev:Event):void{

Control When A Swf Is Loaded From Cache And When Is Not?

May 26, 2009

We have a web app. built in flash that allows customers to upload images and text, customize the container in which these will be shown (a swf file) and then embed the code into thier website. There is also a sharing options that allows their users to display this container, together with the content, on their websites. (For e.g you can see the container as the Youtube player and the content as the videos the user chooses to show). The swf container uses an XML file to know what to display.

Now, I am not a flash developer, but a person who takes care of the project.We are currently working on the app and the swf and we still find bugs. Every time we fix sth, I am told to erase my cache to see the changes. My concern is that the client/users might not see the newer version that we make available, but the old one. We can't tell them to erase the cache and we can't afford to renounce using the cache since the images are big.I was told that, sometimes, the browser does not see that the current version is a new one and loads it from the cache (actually, it never detected that there is a newer version and I always had to erase the cache). How can we tell the browser "now, load the swf from cache" or "now, don't load the swf from cache".

ActionScript 1/2 :: Control An Externally Loaded SWF?

Jul 26, 2009

I'm working on an flash movie and the interface is a small town (simiar to "doritos.com" and "comcasttown.com") if you reference both the doritos and comcast sites their little movie runs smoothly. I have several elements in the town. For example, one of the elements is an airplane hangar. When you rollover the hanger, I created a movie, the doors open and an airplane flies out of the hangar. I have several little movies throughout the interactive such as this. I created the hangar animation as a seperate swf file. In my main movie I created a button, on rollover it loads the hangar swf into an empty movieclip. When I publish and view the swf it plays slow and choppy. First, is it possible to write actionscript to load the external swf ,but it stops on the first frame of the animation and when you rollover it continues to play.To put it all in a nutshell, I want to create several buttons throughout the movie with loadmovie functions, once the swf movies are loaded I want them to stop on the first frame of the animation and when you rollover loaded swf movie I want it to continue to play the animation. Should actionscript be applied to the swf movies first and preloaded into the main movie. And what will make the movies run smoothly once it's published and viewed in a browser.Also if this makes a difference, I created the animations in after effects, exported them as FLVs imported them into flash and exported them as swf. Again it runs really slow and choppy
