I have a dynamic textfield and need to get the last element in it, say the textfield contains 65347ryht2, how can I convert the contents of it to an array and pop he last element off?
I know that there is no such function as getElementByName in Flex but I also now that you can do this["object_id"] to get the element of the application u're in.What about getting an element inside another element?I've tried making element["id"] ? But in my try-catch it always runs the "catch" part..how do I get an element inside another element just having it's id in dynamically created string form?
I need to compare a number with a element in a Array(curModeDisplay), I can trace the element and see it without problem. But when I try to compare the inside element with a String, it didn't work. Why?
ActionScript Code: curModeDisplay = new Array(); \this is the Array I need for (var tvM:XMLNode = tv.firstChild; tvM!=null; tvM=tvM.nextSibling){ curModeDisplay.push(tvM.childNodes); \received element fine here } trace(curModeDisplay); \ This works fine. Array displays correctly
When I need those elements from the Array(curModeDisplay) and try to make some comparison work, it did not work:
ActionScript Code: function DigitCompare():Void{ for(var index in curModeDisplay){ if(curModeDisplay[index]=="11265"){ //it seems didn't work here
[code]....
Is that because the element in the Array is reference to the XML node, and "11265" is String. If so, how should I fix this problem. The "11265" will be changed to any named String type variable in the future.
Recently, whenever I open up the program I get an XML parse error in the output window that reads: *** XML Parsing Errors ***Line 4157: The name attribute was not found on the string element <string playername="" tiptext="Specifies that the gradient use the reflect sprea... Line 4164: The tipText attribute was not found on the string element <string playername="" ti`text="Lets the user drag the specified sprite." This is not specific to any .fla file, but seems to be related to Flash itself. The program seems to work fine otherwise. Can anyone shed some light on this?
I'm using a Coldfusion Dreamweaver template with cfinclude tags. The header contains a flash movie where I'd like to pass 2 variables via a query string to load the correct image and menu button based on the variables in the ActionScript.
pic variable can be 1 - 3 and button variable can be 1 - 7 depending on the each pages body element id. So the logic would be something like this for my flash movie:
if body id =home, then pic=1 and button=1 if body id =about, then pic=current variable and button=2 if body id =page3, then pic=1 variable and button=3
[Code].....
What's the best way to pass these variables depending on the current page body element id?
I have flash where there is a link for song download. And, at the bottom of the flash I've a count, loaded thorugh flash vars which should increment everytime donload button is hit. Please let me know what approach should i take to do that. can i call a Java method on donload button which will insert a row in the table and and then get the count and render it to the count variable in my flash?
May be this extremely confusing. Here is a very similar example on how it is done. This is actually very similar to what i want to do. [URL] on this link there is count below which increments you hit the download button.
I've built a rather robust tooltip class recently that attaches and draws a single tooltip sprite to the root, then uses MOUSE_OVER to detect when it is over a tooltippable object, and shows the appropriate tooltip text. At the moment, I'm ensuring that any elements in my application which wants to take advantage of showing tooltips implement the ITooltippable interface, and expose a public getter, get tooltip().
Basically I have 14 text boxes, each box draws its content from an external txt file. Next to each text box is a button. I want the button to be either visible=true or visible=false depending on weather or not the text box has content or is "undefined" Here is what I have so far, and it's not working:[code] I would like a FOR loop to just run through the variables and check to see if any of them are undefined. if it is, then make the correct send button invisible.
this["nodeValue"+i] = new TextField(); (surely in dynamic class )
then I want to change instance name of that element.when I trace this["nodeValue"+i].name.I got a different name for that element ! f ex : instance8 .how can I get "nodeValue"+i from my element and change that .is it read only ? I want to swap tow element's instance name !
for example : this["nodeValue"+i] to this["nodeValue"+i+1]
I am having a problem with my drop traget. I have the ability to drop and duplicate multiple objects on a stage. I have a clip set up (canvas) which is used for if someone drops objects onto this it duplicates the dragged clip.
However the problem I am having is that if someone tries to drop an element on top of an already drop/duplicated element, it wont duplicate the new clip. Its like it thinks that the dragged clip is not over the canvas.
In Actionscript and Adobe Flex, I'm using a pattern and regexp (with the global flag) with the string.match method and it works how I'd like except when the match returns multiple occurrences of the same word in the text. In that case, all the matches for that word point only to the index for the first occurrence of that word. For example, if the text is "cat dog cat cat cow" and the pattern is a search for cat*, the match method returns an array of three occurrences of "cat", however, they all point to only the index of the first occurrence of cat when i use indexOf on a loop through the array. I'm assuming this is just how the string.match method is. I want to find the specific indices of every occurrence of a match, even if it is of a word that was already previously matched.
But I keep getting an "Error #2030: End of file was encountered." This is (probably) because the class I'm serializing is too big for the "String" object type in AS3. Is there a limitless object for storing an array of characters (or better yet binary), or am I going to have to make my own class? (like one with an array of strings)
I am trying to include double quotes in a string but logic says it would just close the string. I know in html you would use something like ". In flash...I havent the slightest.Anyone know how to go about this?
I have a String variable in my flex (flash builder 4) application containing CSV data. I need to allow the user to download this data to a local file. For example, giving them a "csv" button to click and it might present them with a save file dialog (and I would be sending the contents of my string variable).Is this possible / how ?I am using the ResuableFX component for the datagrid to csv. This the code I ended up with that works to save the string to a text file for the user (in a web browser):
var dg2CSV:DataGrid2CSV = new DataGrid2CSV(); dg2CSV.includeHeader=true; dg2CSV.target=adgEncounters;

Basically I'm trying to output the contents of an XML document into a dynamic text field (as loaded - not just its node values and content - the entire thing - into a variable called _root.log). The text field is set to show the variable value of _root.log.This is the actionscript...

I'm not where error exactly the error happen so I post the whole thing. As far I know bottom code that relate to send_loc.php works fine, get_loc.php is having a problem. The output from get_loc.php is
Im playing around with the last.fm api... Specifically the "getLovedtracks" call.... [URL] This is a weird one that I have never come across... The above call requires a username to return a track listing so if I hard code the username into my class like this.... var username:string = "aidanmack" No problems the call works... if I make that username equal to a dynamic text box string that has "aidanamck" typed into it.. so something like... var username:string = mystage.textbox.text
the last.fm api wont except this... I get user does not exist But if I check the call with the charles proxy Flash is defo sending the username "aidanmack" So I wonder if its to do with have how last.fms api interprets the string?
I need to be able to pass some variables FROM flash and append it to the end of my address. I assumed that if I used LoadVars, I can append the vars to the end of the string like this:
ActionScript Code: send_btn.onRelease = function () { var my_lv:LoadVars = new LoadVars();

I am sending a string to asp from flash that looks like this;
[CODE].....
The problem is when asp (probably php too) reads this string, it reads it like this
[CODE]....
Now this sucks, is there a way to encrypt my flash string so asp will read the string corectly? I know asp is url encoding the flash string, but this bit of info does not seem to help.
I have a very general requirement that seemed very simple: Step 1: Load a new external JPEG image into a MC with a string var encoding a string caption in the URL link (VALUE="../fadeTest.swf?someTextVar=TestCaption") within the EMBED / OBJECT sections. I know how to do this and it semed to work fine. STEP2: When the JPEG is loaded I would like the substituted Text to Fade In over the JPEG. The JPEG should also fade in before the Text. The fade rate should be programmable.
