ActionScript 2.0 :: How To Place Limit On User Input Field
Jan 15, 2009
I need to place a limit on my user input field. In this case I want one of the user input field to have a range of 0-10 and the other one to have a range of 0-59. So far all I have been able to do is this:
mins_input.restrict = "0-9";
mins_input.maxChars=2;
The result is my user can only input numbers but the numbers have a range up till 99! How do I put the results of my input field into my actionscript? I'm making a timer with an input interface.
looking for a real-time user generated input text component like the one in this link:(not the whole functionality, simply the function that if you click on stage an input text field opens wherever you click with the ability to save/drag/delete it) URL...i have created a similar form for a client and im missing this part.
Currently I have an input text field in the middle of my stage "newtext01_txt". The user can obviously type whatever they wish inside of the textbox - however I also want them to be able to drag and drop the textbox wherever they want... incorporating e.target.StartDrag and e.target.StopDrag with the textbox.
I have input text box. the user can place there answer to question 1 in the textbox. what is the capital of the united Kingdom.the answer is london. so i want a to be able to check the user has subbmitted and typed letters london as there answer. i want to check in iput textbox ( the letter keys "london")
I have created a simple Flash file using actionscript 2 (CS3) that allows a user to enter text into an input text field and then print the results. Now what I want to do is allow the user to save the information they've typed in a file of some sort. I would prefer a .pdf, but I'm not married to that format.
For an input field - i need to have some action when user enters something in the input field and hit ENTER.I am using this: but with this user can hit enter anywhere on the screen and get the action- i need to have it only when user selects the input field.
Code: myNewObject = new Object(); myNewObject.onKeyDown = function() {[code]...
I'm trying to do a check to see if the user inputed a number into an input text field. I'm also running a check to see if the user has left the input blank (which works just fine), but I can seem to get the NaN function working.
(using actionscript 2.0 w/ flash CS3)
Quote:
this.btn_step1next.onRelease = function() { if ( zipcode.text == "" || zipcode.text == isNaN() ) { message.text = "Please enter your ZIP code to continue."; } else {

I'm trying to achieve something that I'm sure it's not that complicated, but unfortunately I have not clue how to do it.I have created some text fields. And what I want to do, it's that when the user clicks onthem, in order to start writing, I want a specific movieclip to dissapear.This could be achievable if I knew how to make the textfield behave like a button; but I don't know what code I need for this, as onPress it's not working at all.
I am trying to automate the input process so that when a user inputs 3 numbers into the first field, it automatically jumps to the next one. I have the code to do it and it seems as though it should work but, for some reason, when I move focus from one field to the next the data in the previous field is re-arranged so that the last character input becomes the first (610 becomes 061 - for example).Here is my code:
I want to make a search button on my site. I have a bunch of pdf files in a specific location on my site. I want to create a search field where the end user inputs text into a field and flash locates and opens the corresponding pdf file.
I have some text that says go to page with a input textfield box and a go button. This is a flash cs4 file.I want to have the user input the page number and have it go to that frame.I am using actionscript 3.0 and have bought 4 books and researched online and still can't find what I am looking for.I can make the go button go to whatever page I want I just don't know how to get the information the user put in the box.
Using AS3 to create a basic number guessing game but for some reason the input text field won't accept text input. I can't figure out which piece of code is causing the problem and it's driving me nuts considering it's from a tutorial.
I have created an adobe air application. I have integrated facebook in my application. Now when the facebook login page opens in the webview, user has the option to use "Forgot your password" and "Sign Up" links. I want to prevent the use of these links. I am using LOCATION_CHANGED and LOCATION_CHANGING events to detect the browsing of the user.
is there a way to make it so when you are done putting something into an input field it will automaticly add/subtract from a dynamic field.Dynamic1 + Input = Dynamic2where each time you change the input text it will readd dynamic1 and input show it on dynamic2
How can I type something in my input text field without clicking on the field first? Basically I just have one input text field on the stage and when I Test Movie I would like to just type in some text without clicking on the field...
I have a simple input text element that has to have pre populated content within it that the user cannot delete or modify. All they can do is add to the end of the existing content. I am wondering about the best way to code this so they cannot delete or modify the existing content of the text field and only add to it? I will be pulling in the prefilled text in via flash vars so the length etc will always be dynamic. However, it will always go at the the begninning of the string.
I'm trying to limit the number of lines people can enter in an input textfield. I tried stuff with maxScroll, but that doesn't check if people press enter, so i end up with too many lines of text. I then looked at maxChars, but it's no use either, because users can still enter as many lines as they want.Is there no way you can combine maxChars and maxScroll? there also is "textfield.onScroller" which checks if the textfield is being scrolled. Can't i use an eventhandler based on onScroller? Like:[code]this results in people not being able to edit messages anymore after they reach the end of the textfield.I have no idea how to limit the number of lines in an input textfield. Anyone?
You can refer to the attached excel file. my boss wanted me to make a replica of it in flash. the problem is I don't kno how to do it. In the excel file he wanted some cells - in orange - be available for user to input data at same time display the data. I find it difficult to do. I don't know if it is possible to display output in an input field.
I do not want to have it scroll. For example if the field has four lines and the user is writing the fourth line, and give such ENTER or continue typing until no longer fit on this line, I do not want to be created in the fifth line text field. It has to do it?
I have several input text fields that should take Hex input. I want to limit keyboard input to a-f, A-F, 0-9, left/right arrows, and backspace. I can determine which key was pressed easy enough; I just don't know how to cancel an unwanted keystroke. This seems like it should be very simple, however, I have not been able to find an answer.
I've had a Flash website up and running for about a year which includes an external text file linked to a dynamic text field.
Everything worked well until I recently added content to the external text file.
Suddenly, the file won't load in flash.
If I play around and cut a line here or there, it sometimes loads. Sometimes not. Sometimes it looks like there might be a character limit. Sometimes it looks like flash might be having a problem with certain characters.
So my questions are:
1.) Does Flash have a limit on the amount of characters that can be displayed in a dynamic field.
I just noticed that when you place a text field on the stage using code:
Code: var texter:TextField = new TextField(); texter.defaultTextFormat = new TextFormat("Impact", 68, 0xffffff); texter.text = "890";
[code]....
It does not look the same as a text field that I placed on the stage in the Flash editer. The text created by code has very harsh edges, but the other text has smooth edges. How can I get my code TextField to look like the editor Text Field?
