ActionScript 2.0 :: How To Cancel Loading Dynamic Data

I have started working with Flash MX again and I am making a presentation CD.
I have a dynamic text field and a menu with buttons. Some of the buttons tell the dynamic text field to load data from online files, and some load it from offline files (which is obviously quicker).
The problem i have is
-I click Button 1, which loads online data
-I click Button 2, which loads offline data BEFORE the data for button 1 is loaded.
What this does is loads the data from button 2 which is fine. But then it overwrites it with the data from button 1 which was taking longer!
Is there some way i can tell it to stop running actionscript for button 1?

I am having a problem with loadMovie(); I have a button that loads external SWF into a container, but when another button is released loading a different SWF into same container, that SWF twitches and doesn't load properly.Is there a way to cancel an external SWF from loading during the load process? I am getting some strange results while loading large files dynamically, and testing my movies. Even if I delete the object in which the external file is loading, the bandwidth of the loading seems to continue. Either Im not doing a good job of cleaning up after myself, or the test environment when exporting a movie isn't accurate, or ... there is no way to cancel the effects of

Is this going to be the case online? (difficult for me to test right now) Is there a way to break off the loading once it has begun? (I thought by deleting the object that called the loading function, I would end the loading)

I can't seem to get a MovieClip loaded using the MovieClipLoader.loadClip method to cancel.I try calling the loader's unloadClip method, but that does not do the trick. Also tried simply using the unloadMovie method on the actual clip instance but that didn't work

how do you tell a loader to stop / cancel what it is currently loading? (or is it even possible?) i have a set of navigation buttons, which when clicked, will load an external swf on to a movieclip called "pagesHolder" thats on stage... this works fine, i have even added...

to make sure that only 1 swf can be seen at a time and they wont overlap each other when you click on the different buttons... however, when you click on another button before the previous swf finishes loading, then you will begin to have problems.. it will load another swf, without first cancelling the previous swf from loading.. and this can be seen in the bandwidth profiler(the items being loaded begin to stack up as i keep clicking on the buttons again and again)..

I've created a piece of code that will send some info off to be inserted into a database and then it's recordID will be returned to flash. I'm trying to put the returned id into a dynamic text field but for some reason it's not going. I was wondering if someone could have alook at my code and let me know if I'm doing something wrong. The recordID is being returned to Flash as it's appearing in the trace.

I have a database which looks like this

I would wish to parse this data using php to flash. In flash, I have 3 dynamic text field. (classic_food_name, classic_food_price, classic_food_des )

In my AS I load XML data into an array for titles which will be used later in dynamic text fields. I trace this, all of the titles load fine into the array. I use a for loop to attach a movie which has a dynamic text field inside of it. The movie attaches just fine, in a verticle menu just like I want it. The dynamic text field has the right instance name inside of it. I set the text field instance name to the array, but it didn't show anything in the text field. I knew it was there since it was Selectable and the selection cursor pops up whenever I hover over where it should be. So I create a string variable like so to try and go around whatever is messing it up:

I want to load text into a dynamic text field (called 'about_tab') using a class depending on the language selected (by clicking on a flag icon) by the user.
I managed to get this to work when the ActionScript was written directly in the timeline, but am having problems with doing the same thing via a class.
This is my class file:

When I run it, it returns my trace statements that the class ChangeLang and the function xmlLoaded are running, but no text appears in the dynamic text field (I should/want to see the word 'About'). I get this error message:

i'm trying to load a full html page with layout table cells intact and full function (like an i frame)i can load text and image but i can seem to get the entire page flash just lods it how it wants.does anyone have an idea? Well this is the problem right here. In my flash movie, I made it so a member from my PunBB Forum can login using their login information from the forum, This is using the LoadVars and it loads the variables into flash and displays the username. In the php script i made it so it will display profile information that user has on the forum, this is where the problem comes in.. I can trace the data perfectly fine in the output panel when you are successfully logged into flash.
I can also display the data in Dynamic text boxes IF they are on the main stage.. I need to be able to load the data of the user inside of a movie clip.. that is loaded when you click "User Profile" on the menu, Once the movie is loaded, no data is displayed. Yes i have all the instance names and paths correct, but no matter what i do I cannot load the data into this movie clip. So me thinking it just wouldnt work, I tried making a profile page on a different keyframe in the timeline, That also did not load the data onto another frame.

I have a simple Google Maps API with external data loaded from XML file (location, lat, long, info etc.). I also have a custom marker as a MovieClip (marker_mc), which works fine, but I want to add a Dynamic Text Field (label_txt) to this MovieClip and load a simple data (<label>) to it from same XML file (distribubtion.xml), so as a result every location would have it's own label on the marker.I know how flash loads XML data, but what I don't know is how to include that in Google Maps API (if it's even possible).

I got a music portfolio web site running PHP, MySQL and Flash. There's a page showing all the artists my client worked for and when you click on a song title, this title is passed as a variable to a PHP page then to a Flash page. The Flash page contains an actionscript music player which then looks for the right audio file in the database and plays the song. Everything works great except for the dynamic text field which displays the song title. If the song title contains an apostrophe or a single quote, the Flash dynamic text field then shows the apostrophe.[code]

I have 2 input textfields on the stage and 1 dynamic textfield.
-input1 is for quantity
-input2 is for page count
When a user enters a number into the page count it makes a calculation and places the outcome into the dynamic textfield. This textfield is for the individual price.All of this so far works. What I want to do now is create another dynamic textfield for the total. So the individual price is multiplied by the quantity and this result is put in the new dynamic text field. I have the code for that working but here is where it gets tricky (for me anyway).The total price is to start off invisible. When I roll over the individual price the total price is to appear (For a test lets just say when I roll over an area the total price appears).To stop cursor flickering this should be done inside a movieclip. So... I have create a movieclip and placed a dynamic textfield inside it. They all have instance names BUT how do I reference it in script?I need to tell the resulting calculation to be placed inside the textfield which is inside the movieclip. If it isn't inside a movie clip I can do it. But how to I reference it when inside one?

I am attempting to get data from an xml file load in flash. I followed a tutorial in a new fla and it seemed to work fine, I then tried to adapt it to my own needs which worked fine. But then when trying to implement this into my news section it doesn't seem to work. I am trying to make a news section, that displays the date and news article. This is in within a movie clip, I even tried putting it in the timeline of the scene but still nothing.
- I have 2 dynamic text boxes, date_txt and news_txt
- The xml file is named news.xml,
- both the fla and the xml are in the same folder

I can't get the code to "know" which of the dynamic thumbnails has been clicked (by "know", I mean return an index value, say 0 through 7 if there are 8 projects, that I can use to access that particular project in the array of 8 projects in the rest of the code)... So if the third movieclip thumbnail were clicked, I'd like "2" to come up somehow... I've tried this code, which is kind of lame, I know, based off of the idea of each of the thumbnail movieclips' names ending in their index number:

Is there a way to cancel a function? I seem to be stuck on my own code. I am using an onClipEvent(enterFrame) to call a function to detect input from the user, to move a character around the screen, and on another layer (but in the same frame) I am calling that function. I want to cancel this 'after' I do a setInterval.

I have a button over the top of an image that performs an action upon rollover. I placed an arrow button over the top of this button to allow the user to scroll through the images, but when I rollover the arrow button it cancels out the rollover underneath it. What I need is for the first rollover action to remain while the user hovers over the arrow. I am using Flash 8, ActionScript 2.
