I want to be able to click on the higlighted area to open a link. However, when I do this in the area on the left, it does the same link for all. What happens is when the link is hovered over, it changes colour, I want to also achieve a onmouse click to open a link. What code do I need and placed where to do that without changeing the current mouseover function of highlighting the sentence in another colour?
View 3 RepliesI want to be able to link an Action Script event to clicking text within a text box.The only thing I can see is to just create a basic Hyper Link, but not apply any action:I have been messing around for over an hour but just can't see a way to apply actionscript and all the tutorials on the internet seem to target ActionScript 3 or not do exactly what I want.The reason for this is that there is background music to the site and when YouTube is launched, it needs to be muted. I know the code to mute and have done this on custom objects before, but I can't see any way to apply script to a textbox hyperlink.Whilst I would ideally like to do it this way, I am happy to consider any solution resulting in opening a page and muting the site.To be honest, I tried doing a quick switch to AS3, but as there are so many problems that would need addressing, I would rather spend the time converting the site to HTML/Jquery or even Silverlight.

Right now it's looking like a pain in the butt to me. So now I have to make a function and add it as an event listener? what the hell? What's the benefit? View 1 RepliesI have a parent sprite that contains several child sprites. I have attached mouse click and mouse down event amongst others to the parent sprite. And in the listeners I check which child has been targeted using the "event.target" property. However It seems that the mouse click event does not trigger for some reason. Is it possible that the mouse down event is eating up the click event. Is this a know issue in as3 and is there a possible workaround?

The bug is:
If you press left click and dont release it, and then press right click (contextual menu appears) and then left click again, the first "drag" action is never released.
Its like, I need to make that my right click says: "hey left click, your job is done, you can go home now".

I need to be able to know when a container is clicked and when a button on the container is clicked. I am loading a swf with buttons into a container sprite. If I add a click event to the container it does not get triggered when a button in the loaded swf is clicked. if I add mouseChildren false to the container the it gets triggered. What I need is both the button in the loaded swf to work as well as the click event on the container.

The only problem is the function i call when clicking the MC only works when i click the background, if i click where the text box is in the MC the function doesnt get called?
Is there any way to treat the entire MC as a single entity rather than a layered one, or is there a way to specify which layer is to be clicked, and i can just add an invisible hit rectangle on a new layer in the MC.

I have attached a sample fla file of what i am talking about. I am trying to get a button to do two different functions with one CLICK event. depending were you are on the time line a window should open on close when button is clicked. The problem is it dose it once, opens then closes. I would like it to work every time the button is clicked either open or close depending on the state.

When the external swf completes I would like to programatically click the TextField so that all the ActionScript within the TextField.onPress event will occur.I don't know how to programatically issue a click event. I could repeat all the code within the TextField.onPress event again within the external swf file but I thought it would be a lot easier just to programatically click the TextField again.

I have screen in which I have a button which sets the clip to lower quality, and I also have to have the mouse event in which when the mouse is clicked (anywhere on the screen), this sends you to a different frame (gotoAndStop). The problem is, when I click on the button, not only it does its function, but the mouse event also does. What I want to do basically is to disable the mouse event while pressing the button.

I am trying to create what I believe to be a very simplerollover button that produces three buttons that pop up then clickon a button and gotoAndPlay a label. The rollover and pop up I havebeen able to do successfully - however the mouse CLICK event forthe buttons that pop up won't work. I know this should be simple -but I have been struggling with this for days. I am determined todo this using AS3 as I do not see the point in going backwards toAS2.
