ActionScript 2.0 :: Image Click From XML Content To Hit Function Using Asfunction?

I have had a look at this link:And this is exactly what I need to be able to click on an image wrapped in an <a> tag which comes from my XML content.I have added my image, added the <a> tag to the image and when I fire it up in AS2 and mouse over the image, the mouse cursor changes to the hand as is meant to.I've added my function, which when clicked on, should call a trace to check that it's working and it's not happening and no doubt it has something to do with the path of where my function sits. I have moved this around now to several places without any joy.If I test this on the root, in a simple scenario, it works. My page however sits on the 6th frame of the root timeline and this is where I believe things are going wrong.

I have a pretty large which was coded using AS2 in about 2006 so I'm trying to make a few changes using AS2 which I'm pretty rusty on. I have a swf which loads an xml file into a textarea in flash and it all works well. I'm have made some buttons (movie clip) and when I click on it, I want a file (home.swf) to load in a loader (mx.contents.loader) and I want the other buttons to do the same, all load into the same loader. I have no Idea how to do that. The way I have it set up now, the home.swf will load over the entire screen and that is not what I want. I just want the content to load into the loader and have its content change once I click on the other buttons. Here is a copy and past of that I have at the moment, I'm using Flash 8 to do it all.

I have a button labeled 'blueButton' and I'd like to use an anonymous function to handle the click, like so:
blueButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, function(event:MouseEvent):void {
trace( "-----click detected-----" );
// now do other stuff
});
Problem is, the click handler is called multiple times per click. The number of times called seems to be random (sometimes 2, sometimes 4, sometimes 3 etc). could I be missing something in my code, or maybe I set up the button wrong?
also I noticed that it seems to always get called once on the first click. After the first click is when it starts getting called additional times, maybe that has something to do with it?

I created a movieclip animation that only activates when i rollover the movieclip button. I further extended the frames and created another frame animation that i active only when user clicks the button. So i have a roll over/out animation and click animation in the same movieclip in the same layer. Now the problem is that when i click on the button, its supposed to take me to another page, and it does, unfortunately without the click animation. That means after i click on the button its supposed to first finish the click animation and then go to another page. But when i click, it takes me to another page without showing the click animation
SO I tried the If function, but i seem to make a mistake somewhere and i dont know what to do. Now there is no error in script, but onw there is a problem in link, the button finishes the click animation but it does not go to the tarrgeted"about" frame. here's the code

I would like to know how to make it so when you click a button, it goes to a different frame within a MOVIE CLIP. Kind of like gotoAndPlay but not a frame in the timeline. I would like it to move to a different frame in a movie clip.

I'm doing a basic site with frame labels on the main timeline whose name corresponds to the btn names. A simple otoAndPlay(evt.target.name); I have a basic navigation setup of 7 mcs with mouse eventlisteners for CLICK, ROLL_OVER and ROLL_OUT.

Does anyone know a better way to do this so when my mcs are clicked they display the rollover content/art? In essence I'm trying to achieve that when the user clicks a btn it goes to that "page" and the corresponding btn stays highlighted. Pretty standard web navigation technique but I just don't know what the best way to do this in flash is and with how my site is setup.

It shows the IP Address of a person along with a input box for their name. They type in their name. How would I make it so that, after a name is typed in and a button is pressed, both the name and the IP address are sent to a file? Only I can view the file. I'm trying to find out how to make a simple image gallery which changes image upon a mouse click on a button, when a button is pressed I want the image to slide in from the left into the viewable area and then when another image is selected I want the previous image that was viewed to remain in the screen and then the new image slide across over the top to replace the image.
I can get the images to slide across from the left upon a mouse click however I can't change the layer order so if image 6 is viewed and then I click to see image 1, the image will slide into place however it will be below image 6 so therefore not viewable.
I don't have an example of what I'm after but I hope my explanation was good enough, I've seen this been done in javascript but I have to use flash and am unable to replicate the effect I'm after

I have been able to create a loop that loads it's from an XML list. What I'd like to do now is have a link stored so that when I click on an item in the list, it adds the appropriate text to the description text box. Presently I only have this scripted to trace but it populates with the last description in the list only. How can i assign a link to each item in the list?

I am creating a website with a content box and 4 buttons which activate 4 different pages of content. I would like the content box to resize smaller on one page when activated by a button and resize back to normal when clicked on any other button. I figure I will use a shape tween to resize the box to avoid distortion. So, how do I program each button to transition properly if the page with the smaller box is displayed?

i dublicate my movieclip named mc2. (mc2 in mc1 moviclip). And my scrollpane 's contentpath is mc1. When i do that, it works. but if i make scrolldrag = true, my button in my movieclip doesnt work. How can i use scrolldrag and button click in scrollpane content ??

Clicking on the html tag with asfunction doesn't work this way. I have to move the function part inside the myTextcontent.myMenu timeline to make it work. Instead of moving the function inside the movieclip which asfunction is targetting I would like to keep it all together. Is this possible? Perhaps some way to add a '_parent' code to ik looks for the function in the same layer as the asfunction line? Or some html back slashing so it moves up the 'tree' so it finds the function in the same timeline?

when my asfunctions are called from text loaded in from xml, it stops my up and down scroll buttons working properly (when you click on the scroll button and then release it, you have to move the cursor by at least 1 pixel before the button will work again).

I want the to use the 'edit_pizza' or the 'add_pizza' function whether i am editing or add a new order. So i am checking if "aktOrder" is set (or filled because it is an array) and setting 'clickFunction' the name of the function.Afterwards i put that in the string which will be added to "windowText.htmlText" at the end. By tracing 'clickFunction' i see that it is 'add_pizza' which is right. But in the string it doesn't work.

I just need to know where to reference _root to load a swf into an empty mc using an asfunction. Canadian out with this previous question, and the trace seems to be working, however my clips aren't loading. There needs to be a reference to root somewhere right?
