ActionScript 2.0 :: JavaScript / Swf And Xhtml Anchors
Oct 10, 2010
I have a swf embedded in an xhtml page for my navigation bar. My whole site is contained in one xhtml page, using anchors to zoom to different sections. For example, there is a contact section, an about section, and a travel section. All of these are linked via getURL on the swf file, and set up as anchors on the xhtml page.I have a java script that scrolls to anchors when a regular <a href="#anchor">anchor</a> is clicked, but it does not search the swf for getURL("#anchor"); so, when users click links in the swf, it does not scroll the xhtml page, it simply "jumps" there.Any solution on how to link my java with my swf??

I can successfully call ajax-like functions from my Flash header to update my page. But how can I update the SWF with calls from my page. My page is XHTML. When a link is clicked, I would like the Flash header to move to a specific keyframe.
I just built an XML based img/swf loader that works great as a standalone .swf file. As soon as I insert the swf into my XHTML site it doesn't show up. I've made sure the files are being published to their correct locations and I don't get an XML error. If I open the .swf in the file, it works fine on it's own!
Recently i made a site with football betting predictions. I then contacted some bookmakers and got the affiliate links . My problem is that my page doesn't validate with the affiliate code in it. Is there any way to "hide" the code so it can pass the validate? Here are 2 samples of the affiliate codes

About the errors well ... there are 2 many. so i will just give you the link of the site (it's still not ready specially the layout so dont't comment anything else :p)
What in your opinion is the best way to for me to link to a specific frame or label between 2 different swf's
Situation: AS3
I have a splash page (i'll call it home.html) that uses code that only works in FP9 the navigation buttons are also in this swf. The main part of the website is in another swf that only works with FP10. So when I click on a button in home.swf i need to open main.html and have main.swf go to a certain frame or label.
I have an xml driven swf enbeded in xhtml page that plays fine when tested on local machine through dreamweaver CS4 but once uploaded to site, swf won't load. The music plays however so I know it's not about the linking.
Based on what I have found on the web, I have tried the following to try get what I need working. I am using Actionscript 2.0 XPath to try and access a <div> value in an xhtml file, but I have this simple piece of Actionscript that I cannot get working:
I have a flash header at the top of an HTML page. Inside the flash header resides the navigation with mouse over buttons. Home | Services | FAQ | Contact Us When a person is on the Home page, I wish for that button to be in the mouse over state, which is 'active' state. The user then goes to the Services page, and there too, when the user gets to this html page I wish for this to go active. And so on and so on. How do I do this without making 4 different flash files? Isn't there a way I can control the movie clip's or button's states from the html page?? I believe I've seen this before but cannot for the life of me find a tutorial.
var myLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); myLoader.load(new URLRequest(xmlPath)); myLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, processXML);
[code]...
here xmlPath is the path to an RSS feed. I parse the xml and what not but then i define a dynamic text box in processXML which uses the parsed data. for example:
This is fine except that because the loader event fires after loading the xml file the text is showing up "before" the src images inside this html actually are loaded...
Im working on a project where i have 5 buttons on one side and a blank window in the middle of the screen. when a button is clicked an external swf is loaded with movieclips of text based on each catergory. 2 of these movieclips of text are long and a request for an index at the top of the page has been made. everything in the movie is working so far except the page index. i wanted to create this similiar to the way an html index works with page anchors.
i have made all the letters and converted them to movieclips. ive added event listeners to those buttons so that the main window's y position is moved when they are clicked. the main swf window will jump down to the desired position but the scroll button remains at the top and theres no way to scoll back up to the top of the page.
I need to have 4 external links going into my my flash site, seperat frames. It kind of works when using anchors in my "main.swf", and not load the "main.swf" using the loader component, but then all by itself the "main.swf" starts to jump between the 4 different anchors. When I load the "main.swf" using the loader component, nothing happens, and I feel I need to have the loader component aswell. I have tried to put the anchors in seperat frames in the "main.swf" aswll as in the "loader.swf".
This is how my site is build:
index.htm (with the html anchor codes needed) with the loader component "myLoader" in the index.htm loading the "main.swf".
Suppose I have Flash navigation on an HTML website and want one of the Flash buttons to link to an anchor point within the HTML page that the Flash nav is embedded (i.e. and anchor like this: <a name="top" id="top"></a>) For the Flash navigation, I can link to this anchor by adding the following actionScript to the button:
I'm using Flex 3.5 and I have a Text object with an anchor set in the htmlText property. The link only works on every other click. Is this a known problem in Flex?I've done a simple case and I've found out that I get this problem when the htmlText is inside a TabNavigator object. If it's outside it works as expected.
I am trying to build a simple tool tip information for anchors on an image.I have about 50 of these anchors and I can figure out how to code each of them but I figure there is a simple way of doing this, I just dont know how.If I code them like I have done now, I will end up having endless line of code.
I'm in the process of making a web page that'll successfully checked as XHTML 1.0 Transitional ([URL]), but as soon as I place in the fixit.js script under the flash object and view the page in IE, all the flash elements turn white. Quote:

Anyone knows how to place in flash files in xhtml files on IE without manually controls by clicking on the flash file.
The following doesn't work (although it gives no explicit error), but why not?nd... Is there really no way around it, strictly using the with statement? Forget using for / foreach.
with (object1, object2) { attribute = value; method(); }
Why the code above gives no syntax error, doesn't work but is accepted by with?If it's possible, how could we change multiple objects with same attribute using with?
var object1 = { attribute: 3 }; var object2 = { attribute: 2, method: function() { alert('blah'); } }; var object3 = { method: function() {alert('bleh'); } };
I need to execute some javascript string code from flash swf file using actionscript 3. I read that it could be done by passing the javascript code to the parent html document , using externalinterface.call function. Then I assume it will be faster if I can declare functions in the javascript code in the HTML document in the first use of externalinterface.call funtion ; if flash code calls the javascript code repeatedly. So let me ask you how to do that. For details , any javascript to be loaded is unknown in design time and I can not prepare a javascript file to be loaded.
for some reason, whenever I dynamically load a swf on a $(document).ready() by writing to a div, I am unable to make javascript calls to the browser. Specifically, all calls to the browser return "null". This does not occur when embedding the swf normally on the page load, but I would like to prevent loading of the swf until a specified point in time.
What the heck is going on here? Is there something special about dynamically embedding a swf that prevents the swf from talking to the browser? The methods ARE called (I've proven such by showing alerts), but all return values to any function, regardless of type returned, shows as null when it gets to flash.
Is it possible to pass file names from a running Flash application, which only purpose is to enable multiple-file-selection, to a JavaScript application which handles upload of all files to the server?I have examined various Flash upload solutions (like SWFUpload, Uploadify, etc.) and none of them meets my needs. I want an easy to implement solution (like Uploadify) which also lets me specify various parts of the HTTP request.
The reason I need this is because my upload form uses session cookies (for user authentication) and an CSRF token both passed to the server when uploading files.Is it technically possible to pass filenames (+ paths) to a JavaScript application which then handles the upload?
Here's the challenge: I have a Flash movie which will be embedded in a page using an unknown DOM ID that I want to be able to identify/store for callback in a JS function. My ideal user flow would be: User clicks button in Flash. Flash pauses any animations / video / sounds / etc. Flash calls an injected JS function to display a page-covering overlay experience. When user closes overlay experience, a callback method on the Flash object is called. Flash resumes playback.
The problem is, when AS3 uses the ExternalInterface.call("functionName", args...) method, there doesn't seem to be a DOM event triggered, and thus it is impossible to tell which object called a JS function, so having a "registerMe()" function doesn't seem to work. Basically, the injected JS function has no way to determine which DOM object to call, because the ID of the Flash object is unknown.
I'd like to call a javascript function from an embedded .swf file. Specifically, I'd like to call a function in one of my externally linked javascript files from within: function loadTrack(){
[Code]...
which is in an .as file which I assume somehow becomes the swf file. How would I go about this and 're-compile' the .as file?
I'm trying to write a web application that searches google and then downloads the result sites and parses them.The search has to be done on the client side. Without implementing a server side proxy.Can this be done using javascript/sliverlight/flash?
let suppose i have a object named "data" which has a callBack function named "closeItem" which does something. So i have flash file which has a close button. on click of that i am calling this function which closes this item. So issue is? If i pass this "closeItemFunction" as global function this works fine. but if a pass this function as a "data.closeItem" this doesn;t work throwing some falsh error. so i just wanna ask that "does flash only call gobal scoped javascript function" ??
We're currently building a Flex application using the PureMVC framework with a shell.swf which loads/unloads modules dynamically. We're experiencing issues with memory and we're looking to replace the shell.swf with a JavaScript-based loader.Two questions:What would be a good framework to dynamically load the Flex components and allow the modules to communicate between each other?Would dynamically loading/unloading the modules via JavaScript take care of the typical memory problems associated with Flex/Flash applications?
With all the recent hype about JavaScript and HTML5 replacing Flash, I wanted to know - How would it be possible to protect client-side js code? Of course, it is possible to obfuscate it, but that would only make it a little harder. Also, for games which submit high scores to the server, wouldn't it be incredibly easy to modify those scores before they are sent to the server? I know even Flash files can be decompiled, but they can be obfuscated and flash decompilation is not as easy as modifying data in JS - could be done easily using a plugin such as Firebug. I'd like to know everyone's views on this.
I have a flash file that contains a package "game" which has a class "Scores" and a method setValue(). I want to write some lines of Javascript that allow me to call that method. Someone directed me to this tutorial, but I am still a bit confused.
Javascript: alert("start"); var so; so = document.embeds[0]; so.addParam("allowScriptAccess","always"); import flash.external.ExternalInterface; ExternalInterface.call("setValue[2600]");
displays an alert to tell me that it has indeed began to execute saves the embedded flash file into a variable and sets access imports that class calls the method.I am not sure about how this class thing works? This is just the bits and pieces I was able to come up with from that site, but I don't really understand how it all works (but certainly hope to eventually).This is the site: http:[url]...how-do-i-access-flash-function-using-javascript.When I execute the code with the importation nothing happens, but the alert does come up when I don't have that statement?
