ActionScript 2.0 :: Load Text Dynamically Into MC: MX
Oct 27, 2004
I would like to load text dynamically form my server into my flash movie. That I know how to do. I have 2 frames on 1 layer.
[Code]...
But when I try the same thing within a movie clip, I have trouble getting the text to display. The text box pops up but no text from my content.txt file.
I am using Flash CS4 and ActionScript 3.I am trying to dynamically load text and an image from an XML File.I can load the XML file, and populate the dynamic textbox with the text.But I can't figure out what to put the image in.[code]
I'm trying to load text dynamically with an external.txt file. This works fine. The problem is formatting the test. For some reason, loading the text from an external file has complicated things a bit. Nothing formats the way I want it to...the text size doesn't even change.When I started with this movie, I had my copy in a string in the AS code and was able to format the text color, font, size, textbox width and height as well. No problems. That's issue #1.
Issue #2 : you'll notice I'm using the greensock classes to animate a movieclip (also has text in it). I'm using a mask layer over the MC. When I try running the movie, my animation works fine, but none of my text loads...and it doesn't matter if it's a text string in the code or an external text doc. I was told that I need to embed the font..which I have the code for, as you'll see below..but it did nothing.
I was wondering if it is possible to create a dynamic text field with actionscript, to load XML data from a folder but only when this folder contains any data.Is it possible to check through Flash if a folder contains an XML file and in that case to create the dynamic text field in order to load the XML file?
I need to dynamically load image and text (title + description) from external XML file in Flash 8 and show image in the left and all text in the right(title top then description) and scroll all the content(image + text). More than one image and text will be there.Pls send solution + fla & xml.
The desired affect is simple: I have a single button... with each click I want it to load text into a dynamic text field and load a corresponding picture or movieclip.There are only three unique text/image combinations- after its displayed the third, with the next click I want it to just start over. All the text functions perfectly with each click.
The problem is:I use "createEmptyMovieClip" then use the resulting clip as a loader clip.. With the first click I want a movieclip from the library to load, so I use the "attachMovie" method- it displays the first library fine.With the next click I want to load an external swf- so I call the "loadMovie" method of the loaderclip... The external swf loads just fine replacing the first library clip.The third clip is where I have problems... now I want to load another library item into the loaderclip... so I tried using the attachMovie method again but the external swf remains static... then with the next click, I discover the first library item no longer loads and the external swf remains still playing- it's like once it's been loaded into the loaderclip it cant be moved...
So I tried adding the "unloadMovie" method in the code for the third click.. it successfully removed the swf... but the next line of code immediately after the unload statement, doesn't work. The line calls the attachMovie method for the loaderclip... but the library item doesnt load... Oddly enough, with the next click, the first library item now does load as if everything's fine... It seems like you cant use the unloadMovie and attachMovie on the same executing code? if that makes any sense... the basic idea was that if I couldnt get the attachmovie method to replace the loaded external swf, then I would use the unload method to remove it, then have code immediately after, to then execute the attachMovie method... but it still doesnt load the library clip. and I know it's not a type-o, because when I comment out the loadMovie and unloadMovie statements, it loads both the library items perfectly ? The code is below
var increment:Number = 1; var verbiage1:String = "Hello World1"; var verbiage2:String = "Hello World2";[code].............
I created a somewhat custom Spark button by doing the File > New > MXML skin and basing it on spark.components.button. The problem is that I need to add an extra text field to the button component and dynamically change that text...but of course, the property isn't recognized on a Spark Button.
Is there a simple way to add this field to my custom button skin & its property so it can be addressed? If not, is there a simple way to take what I've done and just extend the Spark Button? I can't seem to find any examples that show how to do it without writing it all up in ActionScript.
There's a movieclip, lets call it myMovieClip. Inside this movieclip there is a dynamic text box, lets call this one myText. Now to change the text within this text box that is embedded in a movieclip, it's simply:
[Code]....
However, what if there is a variable, called myVariable that stores the instance name of the text box. With only one text box I know it's pointless, but for the sake of example, lets leave it simple. So, suddenly the code looks like:
I need help dynamically loading text from a server into a dynamic text box in my movie. If i use the loadVariables it works, with the Html rendering.. if i use it with loadVars it works but now the html doesn't render. What i want is to load some text from my server into the text box and have the html to render. Also, is there a way to display the progress as the text loads, for people with slower connections?
I'm having trouble with dynamically assigning text to a dynamically created text field.
[Code]...
I've tried setting up the TextFormat and createTextField as a function that's called on the onRelease handler. I've tried dropping the whole frackin' code in the onRelease function for each button. Neither approach works. I've been digging around on the web, looking for answers, and nothing seems to solve my problem.
I have a code that creates 10 dynamic text fields, along the "y" axis, based on a loop.
What I want to happen is, for each text field that is created, i want the numbers to constantly change based on a timer (they'll all change at the same time, but to random numbers).
Right now, the code below changes the numbers, but keeps stacking the new numbers on top of the old...
Code:
Code: var timer:Timer = new Timer(100,0);//called every Xms, repeated infinately (0); timer.addEventListener (TimerEvent.TIMER, doNumber); timer.start ();

I can't get the text fields that I am creating dynamically to accept html,I have tried .html = true;Am I really going to have to create my own button and use getURL?I am using flash 8, as2.
Im currently making a flash website. and trying to make it as light as possible.so decided to load images dynamically.Im using UILoaders.I drag the UILoader from components into the main timeline and set the source as 1.jpg, because the image is in the same folder as the .fla file.and scale - false
Tested the movie but nothing shows up. i guess i need some coding? but i dont know where to add the codes. on the same frame? or in frame 1? i also need the image to fade-in.the end result im looking for is, as i click a button. 3 images show up at the same time, fading in.
I need to find or develop an app that will load in a pdf file from the web, allow a user to make simple annotations and save these annotations back to a webserver I'm curently using the zurb javascript annotator with the pdf rendered to a .jpg with imagemagick. Just now, I was told that they need the ability to zoom in to 3000% or more on some files. clearly rendering to a jpg would create gigantic files.
So I need to create either a java app or a flash app that will load the original pdf, allow the user to mark it up, and save either the annotated pdf, or the annotations themselves back to the webapp. This also needs to live IN the web browser, launching acrobat reader, or an air app that must be downloaded and installed are not going to work here.
I have the folowing codo to load text from a text file into a text field in my flash document:
loadVarsText = new loadVars(); loadVarsText.load("homePage.txt"); loadVarsText.onLoad = function(success) {
[Code]....
the same, and I want to make the homePage.txt file load when the flash file starts, that is what it does right now by placing the code on the main timeline.
I have a rotaing menu that loads in images from an xml file, I would also like it to load in text info from the same xml file to the left side of the images that load in. In my main .fla have created a movieclip and called it 'textInfo' and inside that I have two dynamic text fields called 'headerText' and 'bodyText' where I want to load the text in. this is what I am using to loading in the text in my actionscript, is this correct?
I would like to have a SWC file with many bitmaps stored in it, which can the be called and loaded dynamically when they are needed.The SWC has been made, with the Bitmaps set to export.In my main class I am running into trouble trying to access these classes.Different sources are offering different advice, could someone advise the best way to gain access to these classes within the SWC, and the best way to access the SWC from within my file.URL]they offer a solution which involves having to statically name the classes at runtime (these arent exported bitmapdata classes but same idea)this second link is a person describing a solution to the problem described in the first link. His solution involves what appear to be either flex or command line compiler directives
I'm developing a website for school and in an effort to make it eaier to update i'm attempting to make it as dynamic as possible. So far I've been able to load in MC's dynamically. These MC's banners are made up of smaller MC's themselves. When the mouse goes over one the banners, I want to access one of it's child MC's. This is what I have so far:
//the banners to be loaded are set in the library to export with a class matching their respective names //when page loads...
I've been playing around with a demo version of a PHP Flv streaming player from rich media project. I've been able to setup my player to play flv videos dynamically by passing an id from the database to the swf file (works great).
However I cannot for the life of me work out how images are loaded dynamically. The player uses the filename and adds .jpg as the extension to load the image file when the player starts. Problem is my image name will be different to the file and so I need to pass a variable in the same way I am passing a variable for the movie name.
// skinID=1// Instance names and linkage identifiers were set with '_1' extension//myPlayer.skinID=1;myPlayer.skinPlayer=true; var passed:String = video;myPlayer.movieName = video;// Init isFullScreen and zoom varisFullScreen=false;zoom=1; // Set scaleMode to noScale and align top leftStage.align = "TL";Stage.scaleMode = "noScale";
i managed to load an svg tiny file on flashlite 3.0. Is there any way to load an svg file dynamically through as2? (i suppose that as long as it is loaded in flashlite there is also a way to load it by as2).
I'm building a slide-show like application in Flex and I'm trying to load images dynamically. The images are in a folder outside the application folder. This is the folder structure:
I have 20 different flash files that i need to play randomly when a user enters a zip code. I am done with the project, but the way I have done it is I think could have been done a lot better. I have 20 different aspx files that have the flash object. I redirect users to different aspx files based on the random number using Random class. Is there a way to just have one aspx file where the param value and data could be passed using a variable. That way, its easier to maintain and i don't have to go to 20 different aspx files to update anything. Here is what the flash object looks like.
i try create a code, which can load to stage Movie Clips(which included pages of my website) I've created code which load Movie Clips on stage,Listing of this code:
ActionScript Code: var currentPage:MovieClip = index_mc; var indexPage: pageIndex =new pageIndex();
