I am playing around with movieClipLoaders and have run into problems. My application wont load my movieClip. I am trying to do it the [url]... way, but it works poorly.
Code:
this.createEmptyMovieClip ("mcHolder", this.getNextHighestDepth());
var Loader:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
Loader.loadClip ("Red.swf", mcHolder);
I m not making any lame fix-it-in-5-seconds errors? I have put the .fla and the .swf in the same directory, so that is no the problem.

I have this code below which works well to a certain extent. This code is on the 'PROFILE.swf'. On this page there is a sub menu containing 4 buttons: Biogs, Awards, Charity, Publications. When one of the the last 3 buttons are clicked the text already on the page fades away and the relevant, new, swf is loaded in place. Now because within each new swf there are more catergories in the sub menu to choose from, the buttons are also loaded with the new swf.
This means that after the first button is clicked, this code nolonger works as the target path changes. Initially the buttons are in Container2, then once the first button is loaded the buttons are in sub_cntr. My question is: Is it possible to write the code so that the target path is checked to both CONTAINER2 and SUB_CNTR?
2.On click load the actual image which again is generated via XML file.
Now in the past I have used XML for a menu system, but I'm finding it hard to come up with this by myself from scratch. I can't seem to break the concept of how I would set this up. If anyone can lead me in the right direction with a link or example etc,
[URL] the tutorial above worked fine for the standard images kirupa used, all were 300x200 and faded into position perfectly, however if another picture is used that's the same size even, it won't load, nor will it load if the same images kirupa used are edited with the tiniest pixel changed. i know it's definitely not the hyperlinks in the .xml file.
I have a button on my main time line root and I have a movie clip that performs an animation inside that I was wondering why I can't access the movie clip with this code I am using mx 2004 [AS]on (rollover) { _root.document.mc_button.gotoAndPlay("up"); }[/AS]
I want to load a flex application in mobile flex application and also i want it to interact with the parent application. Right now I am trying to load the swf with swfLoader in mobile app, but it gives me security error. And also should I want the parent application to be generic in terms of child application as in down the line if someone wants he can have another child application with same name run.
I've created a client with login acces in Flex. After the succesful login i have to show a table based on a mySQL server. The database is composed by some tables, and I have created 6 flex mxml components with each own scripts for each of those tables. How can i load sub-applications, for example with a PopUpButton or a TabBar in the main application?
I am building a website of songs library using flex, I have made an mxml file for each page, for example the home page, albums listing page, album details page, search result page and so on. I want to know how would I link them all together, for example on the home page there will be some featured albums when I click on an album am supposed to go to the swf file of the album details same if am clicking on an album from the search result page.I've checked the Adobe Flex Help and found the SWFLoader Control but I understood that it's intended for loading swf files that add graphics or animations but not for something that will have user interaction and in my case there will be user interaction like for example in the album page users can add comments, review comments added by other users, rate the album, buy it and so on.
The docs I've found on NPAPI plugins explain how to write plugins to be loaded by browsers, but how hard is it to write an application that loads existing NPAPI plugins?
(My ultimate goal here is to find a way to use SWF content inside an application written with Python and wxPython in Linux. I've accomplished this on Windows by using the comtypes module to load the ActiveX Flash player. For Linux, I'm thinking that wrapping the Gnash NPAPI plugin in some C/C++ code and making this a Python extension seems like it would work, albeit a bit convoluted...)
i am trying to load swf from other domain in to my air application. but it gives security sandbox error and i use Security.allowInsecureDomain("*") and it work perfectly in normal Flash but Air gives another eror:
I created separate own canvas component for Home page, Contact page, Rules page etc.In my main application it has link button like Home,Contact,Rules in application controller(child state) . [code]...
On my application I have a login form. On application start, I want the focus/selected one is set on the user id textinput. I tried normal setFocus method and didnt worked. How can i make it work?
I don't know if I can do what I want in flex, so imagine this in ASP: I have an aspx page that loads a Login.ascx control, the control checks if login is correct, and if so the aspx page loads the XXX.ascx control (so there is only one control visible).
I want to do more or less the same in Flex: I have the main application with the code that connects to the database, check the login, and if its correct it loads a new module. I have made everything until the module load, I mean, I have the main application (Login.mxml) associated to a Login.as, and a Module.mxml associated to a Module.as. When the user press the login button (in Login.mxml), a method is fired and checks the login. If it is correct, it shows the new module.
My problem is that it is shown in the same page that the login page, instead of "changing" the page. I have used two ways to do that: ModuleLoader and PopUpManager, and both load the new module in the same page.
QUESTION: How can I load, inside an application, a Flex module in a different page?
I made a Flex 4 web application. Upon testing locally, I already got satisfied at how it looks like. However, the swf's file size grew to around 6mb in size so when I uploaded it to my website and viewed it, it takes forever to load on a computer with quite slow internet connection. So my question is, how do I make it load faster? Should I:
separate it into chunks? If so how do I do it.
not put the embedded images inside the SWF but instead, store it outside in a folder? If so, how do I make it load on the background while the user is interacting with the primarily loaded parts of the web app?
I want to load a little flash video before my application starts, so people can see my website logo before using my application. btw I make my apps with Javascript, HTML5 and CSS
I'm trying to send about 1 MB of binary data to server via URLLoader. But when I call method load of this class, my application hangs for about 1-1.5 seconds, then uploading runs normally.
We're trying to implement a load-balancing mechanism between FMS hosts in a virtual "farm". The mechanism we're using is to have the FMSs periodically send "load" data (along with a timestamp) to an application server. That server will then use that load information and timestamp to detect when an FMS server has gone down and to make stream assignments to FMSs. Right now, I've implemented this code via a setInterval() in live/main.asc.
I've added a "return false" to Application.onAppStop() to (according to the docs, I haven't tested this yet) keep the server from shutting down an idle instance. How do I get the interval running before the first request hits the application (and forces the load of the application)? I've tried putting the setInterval in onAppStart() and as a global. In both cases, it only gets executed after application is loaded. Any way to force an application to load (via a config file parameter or local command-line)?
I have a problem. I have flash application which loads data from XML files. When I start this application in Google Chrome all XML files loads except one, the largest (100kB).

I'm currently learning how to make facebook apps, and I've hit a problem. Usually when I make flash applications, I can use the index.html and run the swf from a webserver. However, I tried to make a facebook iFrame app using the same setup, all I get is the Alternative Content Text [URL]
I'm building an AIR application which will be used to edit slideshows for another app (also built by me, but not in AIR). The slideshows and other data are defined in several xml files which are in the other application's program folder. When trying to load these into my AIR app I get the following error:
fault(mx.messaging.messages::ErrorMessage)#0 body = "" clientId = "DirectHTTPChannel0"
