Jan 4, 2010I'm running Flash CS4 on a laptop and find it gets sluggish. I find when I restart my computer, I can work at a good speed for a while, but eventually it becomes very laggy - why is this?
Can I dump the cache files or something to simulate the restart? I've reduced the undo history to 10 - any other tips for CS4 on a mediocre machine?
ActionScript 3.0 :: Getting High FPS On AIR For Android?
Dec 2, 2011I am working on a small educational game which is made in Flash and ported on Android via AIR. I'm having hard time getting desired FPS (which is 20) on Android device (It's Vizio tableturl]....).Main problem is score card which is 1024x768 movie clip with 45 frames. Earlier we had vector graphic movie clip which totally messed up performance, now we have converted all frames into JPEGs and we're getting average of ~8 FPS when score card comes.
how to get higher FPS? I personally think that score card is very big in resolution. But am I missing any tricks or special method for mobile device rendering?I was thinking to try Blitting... has anyone tried and got really positive results outta it?
Data Integration :: Getting High-res PDF With Transparency From SWF
Oct 18, 2007I'm an art student and have produced some pieces in Flash 8. Now I've been asked for a high-quality (i.e. a letter-sized print at 600dpi) image, but the animation uses transparency.
I've been able to generate vector-based PDFs that I can blow up to as big as I want with no quality loss, but the transparency dissappears.
When I conserve the transparency, I get something that'll print at about 1/10 the size I need at 600dpi.
If it's not possible from the Flash Player (or from Flash 8), then does anyone know of an alternate program that'll do this for me (preferably free or cheap)?
How To Export Flash For DVD In High Quality
May 20, 2009I have a flash presentation thats for a supermarket TV screen. Its big in file size 9.6MB. When I go file/export/export movie to quicktime and use the animation settings the file plays but leaves trail lines behind, skips frames and looks crap.
The quicktime settings I've used are either:
Animation
Quality Best
Millions of colours
All Key frames
24fps
or
DV - PAL
Frame rate 24fps
Quality Best
I need it to look high quality but I am not sure what settings to use.

Jun 6, 2011I'm trying to time things in flash and need a high-speed timer with resolution of somewhere around 10 to 100 microseconds. the closest thing i have found so far is the "time" component of Date. that has a resolution of about 16 milliseconds and therefore is too coarse for what i need.

Sep 28, 2011So I recently switchs to a new computer. Installed flash and got everything up and running. On the old computer, I was forced to set the jvm.ini to use -Xmx512M in order to run the application (it's kinda big) But now, if I set it 512, flash will not open... I get the Java enviroment error.
Now, I lower the xmx value more and more and more until flash FINALLY opens without an error... I load up my application and when I try to run it, I get the java memory heap error and it tells me to adjust the jvm.ini file. Anyone know how I can get flash cs5.5 on a windows 7 64bit machine with 8 gigs of ram to open with a larger jvm.ini value?

IDE :: High Def Video Playback Without Quicktime
Apr 8, 2009I'm in a bit of an emergency situation. I need build a high def video player in flash as3 for people WITHOUT the quicktime player.
Neither mov nor m4v files work (They obviously need quicktime), and when I convert my movies to FLV they look very pixelated.
IS there anyway to build a high def video player that does not require quicktime player!?
Get A High Quality Video Into A Flash Document?
Mar 20, 2009I'm trying to get a high quality video into a flash document. I would like it to stream the flv from the website it will be posted on.
The source file is a 640x480 quicktime file (H264 compression)however viewing it at 640x480, I notice that there is pixelation instead of a clean and crisp image, I look at the source, it's clean and crisp. how can I import a nice high quality video into flash without that nasty pixelation?
ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash8 With High Score Table?
Dec 28, 2009I need some urgent help with my high score table. My scoreboard was based of a tutorial that I found using php and flash to create a scoreboard. When I use the scoreboard in flash (using ctrl + enter) the scoreboard runs fine... It uploads the new name and score and reads the scores from the board then loads them to flash. But the problem is as soon as I try to use the created "*.SWF" file, it acts as if nothing is meant to happen... I click on the button to upload and reload the scores and nothing happens at all.
I loaded the file onto the same FTP site i'm hosting the scores and the PHP file and the scoreboard once again worked fine. Upon trying to post it anywhere else, the scoreboard won't work.
I have the local playback security setting set to "Access network only".

Feb 21, 2009As more and more FLV videos are moving to HD, I'm noticing high CPU usage and lots of dropped frames when playing FLV video in web browser with Flash 10. This is true even if the video isn't full screen. I've tried a variety of browsers (Firefox, I.E., Chrome) and the problem occurs on all of them so it's pretty clear it's a limitation in Flash.
Now my PC isn't high end (it has a Pentium M 1.86 GHz processor), but I can take those same FLV files and load them in something like Media Player Classic or Windows Media Player (when using ffdshow) and play the FLV files full screen with little or no drop in frames and an acceptable CPU rate.
This is especially annoying on sites like YouTube where I actually have to save the video and play it back in something other than Flash to have it play back at an acceptable rate. This doesn't work for other sites like Amazon.
Why is the CPU usage so high when decoding and displaying videos when compared to other media players?

Apr 16, 2009I have helped write a program in AS3 that uses classes. We have 2 frames in our movieclip that consists of an ant moving. We have a class of ants and can create 15 instances of them and the program runs fine with the ants walking around looking for food and going back to a corner that is their nest and going back out again. The ants also respond to mouse movement if the mouse pointer is near an ant.
If we create more than 15 ants, then the program starts to slow down. If we have 30 ants on the screen, then there is noticable stuttering of the ant movement. The CPU usage on a P4 2.5Ghz Pentium is around 50%.

May 4, 2009I make my first flash site. I've insert images in 72 dpi. The site is ok on the web! Now, I want print the site pages in high resolution. Is possible to create the .fla file with image in 300 dpi (so I can print from original .swf files with images in high resolution) and ask to flash to reduce the images resolution in automatic only in the final publication?

Apr 7, 2011So I've been surfing the net trying to find a way to get a 100% resolution from Flash to Gif and can't find it.Here is the deal, I've got Adobe CS5 and I started doing animation in photoshop. It took forever but once I got it done it looked awesome and I could easily transfer it into a gif via 'save for web and devices".Because it was taking forever I decided to learn flash and after a day I got the basics pretty much figured out and made my first .swf file. I then went to turn it into a Gif and the resolution sucked and the timing was off.

Sep 13, 2010I would like to create a application in AS3.0 that going to publish to website where I'm trying to prevent from other people to download and decrypt. But of course, i need to design the application in such a way that it doesn't contain any sensitive data in case someone successfully download and cracked it.
However, i'm not sure whether it is really safe to include sensitive data by using dynamic external script (e.g. putting "include Data.as" on action). I understand that only during compilation this Data.as is being dynamic loaded but I'm not too sure people can decrypt and see the content of Data.as by some other way to download and crack from my application.
ActionScript 3.0 :: Exporting High Quality PNG / JPG Files
Jun 23, 2011I have successfully exported images a number of times. However, my question has to do with exporting high quality images. It is my understanding that if you have some sort of draw-space (your user is drawing to with a pen tool or whatever) that is a sprite or movieclip you can then export that area to bitmap data then use a jpegencode class to encode it. My issue is that if the draw-space is 400x400 then the PNG/JPG output is going to be 400x400 and pixelate terribly if you try to make it larger. My project requires that the image be output at something like 3 megapixels or better quality. So I guess my question really is, how do you offer a user a small workspace (like 400x400) to draw and doodle in, then export that drawing into a large high quality image that can be used in printing (3-16 megapixels would be awesome)?
