How to make as3 do Task Manager priority = high? I found out that , when I was playing my game on the flashplayer.exe . I went to task manager "set priority" to high on the flashplayer and boom everything running smoothly and it was lock on 30 fps every frame.

I double-clicked on a bitmap-item in the library and instead of opening the properties-windows where you can change compression, import and so on, the focus changed to a random explorer window and flash got "locked". Flash probably thought that it actually opened a new sub-window and waited for it being closed, but there was no such window! Seems like the open-procedure failed and the next window to focus on was just an explorer window. Closing this one didn't get the focus back to flash. What a luck, I could still save the file using ctrl-s but couldn't get back to the application. So I had to kill Flash with the task-manager.
View 1 RepliesAnybody else have that dilemma where you have movieclips on stage that should animate, but because they somehow end up switching index/priority(top to bottom on a single layer) on stage in some keyframes, they end up resetting themselves. This causes you to go back through all your movie clips just to check for this. Is there a reletively simple way to deal with this?
Also, assume that distributing everything to layers is not an option.
Is there a way to give a movie clip depth priority, on a MouseEvent? If so any suggestions?

View 3 RepliesSo I recently switchs to a new computer. Installed flash and got everything up and running. On the old computer, I was forced to set the jvm.ini to use -Xmx512M in order to run the application (it's kinda big) But now, if I set it 512, flash will not open... I get the Java enviroment error.
Now, I lower the xmx value more and more and more until flash FINALLY opens without an error... I load up my application and when I try to run it, I get the java memory heap error and it tells me to adjust the jvm.ini file. Anyone know how I can get flash cs5.5 on a windows 7 64bit machine with 8 gigs of ram to open with a larger jvm.ini value?

That is, I want to load 5 images, but I want image 1 loaded as fast as possible.Obviously I could make my own load queue, but if I do that the loading process could easily get hung up on loading a single image.I want to be able to run multiple Loader.load()s in parrallel, but assign priority weighting to each of the files.

Is there a way to set the priority (CursorManagerPriority.HIGH) of a mouse cursor set via Mouse.cursor = '...';?
Long story short, I've had to resort to using the CursorManager to apply cursors, because setting the priority is crucial for my application due to the HTML control overriding all cursor changes without a high priority. Setting cursors with the cursor manager totally works, but the cursors aren't as fast/response as those rendered at the OS level (as described here).
If there isn't a way, my next question is: is there any way to suppress the cursor changes made by the HTML control? Setting mouseEnabled = false does it... but disables all mouse events on the HTML page, so that doesn't work.
This doesn't work:

Setting a cursor with a high priority works, however:

Flash Player 10.2.153.1and Flash Player 10.2.159.1 are crashing my standalone application. Later with version 10.1 the application run ok, never crashes but was taking more than 90% CPU. The new Flash Player solve the problem of resources, and drop down CPU to 30%, but the application crashes always after a while, unespectly, or if I open the window of other application.
In the other hand when I disable the harware acceleration at the swf settings, the application goes crazy and start to make rapid flashes, and frame rate goes down to 8. [URL]. Right click on the Flash logo, Settings,then UNcheck the hardware acceleration in Display Settings.)
I'm on a Mac Mini Core 2 Duo with Mac OS X 10.6.7 (the last Snow Leopard these days). The graphical card is Nvidia GeForce 9400M.
I did test the application at a Mac Book Pro core i5, Mac OS X 10.6.7, graphica card Nvidia GeForce GT 330M and the application is more stable but finally crashes too.
Finally if I export my application with GPU Hardware acceleration at Publish Settings, my application crashes almost inmediatly after I open it in each of the computers.
My guess is that the new Flash Version is using my graphical proccesor in a corrupted way.

Everything works fine, except that it's impossible to select the text in the TextInput with the mouse, instead it's dragging the row...How can I set the TextInput to have priority over drag'n'drop ?
I'm new to actionscript so I can't create task that I need.My problem is that, I can't change the task doing every frame with actionscript.let me example:

In this code I told flash to move the object (instance_name) 2 pixels to the right every frame. and if it arrives at the end of stage, It move 2 pixels to the left every frame. But when I test the movie, at the end of stage it wouldn't turn back and move to the left and stood still. Its because it process ( instance_name.x += 2; ) after it got out of the end of stage.
For some reason I am unable to create a FLV file from a MP4 file with high bitrate. I even created a custom setting and specified bitrate as 2500 but the output file is always around 775.

View 4 RepliesI'm building a simple task manager that will at this moment execute tasks in a serial manner. I have been reading about threads in flex and it seems it is not quite clear/prepared for real threads.
What I'm looking at this moment is a way to execute a method at the beginning or end of a flash builder update. This method will be the one that will take the responsibility to start tasks added in the previous update. The removing of finished tasks will be done through event notification (the task will notify it finished) then the scheduler will remove it and dispatch the message again to let the outside world know the task was over.
