ActionScript 3.0 :: Not Performing Calculation?

Mar 17, 2012

So i think i have fully coded my calculator but it still doesn't seem to be performing the calculations correctly. I can't see where i am going wrong. If i perform a calculation let's say 6*2 it outputs NaN then i straight away + by let's say 5 it outputs NaN again. And it doesn't make the operators display only once, so if i click on '+' twice it will display twice in the display when it is meant to only display once and in one of my functions i cleared the display field so that it would replace the number's when the next operation is performed but it doesn't seem to be doing that. I have been going over the code several times but i can't seem to identify where the problem is coming from.

Actionscript Code:[code].....

I have not added the full code as it is too long, i have just added the parts which relate to each other. I am just doing everything entirely through actionscript, nothing is on stage apart from the display and answer text fields.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Performing A Function On Two Textboxes

Jan 24, 2012

I had an onEnterFrame script that would make a cypher of some letters for you. I thought it would be great if I could wrap the code in a function so I could apply it to multiple textboxes at once. Since doing it (wrong!) it only actually does what its supposed to on one of the textboxes. What am I doing wrong?

To make this work you'll need a two textboxes, one with an instance name of text_one and one called text_two

Actionscript Code:
// The String that will reveal itselfcypher_characters("text_one", 10, 5, 2, text_one);cypher_characters("text_two", 10, 5, 2, text_two);function cypher_characters(characters, time_until_start, time_between, frequency,

ActionScript 3.0 :: How To Change Task By If

Feb 7, 2012

I'm new to actionscript so I can't create task that I need.My problem is that, I can't change the task doing every frame with actionscript.let me example:

ActionScript Code:
instance_name.x += 2;
if (instance_name.x > stage.stageWidth - instance_name.width)
{
instance_name.x -= 2;
}

In this code I told flash to move the object (instance_name) 2 pixels to the right every frame. and if it arrives at the end of stage, It move 2 pixels to the left every frame. But when I test the movie, at the end of stage it wouldn't turn back and move to the left and stood still. Its because it process ( instance_name.x += 2; ) after it got out of the end of stage.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Enter Frame Not Performing All Actions ?

Mar 26, 2012

I had a simple swf with enter frame event that would move an object. everything worked ok , then I changed the framerate from 12 to 24fps. No everything is still working ok, execpt the movement in the enterframe event seems to be working at 12fps still...

ActionScript Code:
function performonenterframe(evt:Event):void{
character.x += 5;
trace (character.x);
}

the trace now would give me 5,5,5,10,10,10,15,15,15 etc...so the event is kicking in every frame but it is moving the character every third frame only...

ActionScript 3.0 :: Communication Between Classes And Performing Action

Jun 2, 2009

I don't know how to phrase this, but as you can see my code below I have 2 classes.
1. wp_title
2. wp_date

How can I let wp_date to get the height of wp_title's contentText? Currently I tried tracing wp_title.height from wp_date but all I get was 0, I guess it doesn't get the height after wp_title finish loaded. Currently the classes will perform an action after I resize the stage. I assume if I'm able to get the classes to communicate with each other than I could have 1 main classes to control the actions perform in other class?

Code:
package {
import flash.display.Sprite;
import flash.display.Stage;
import flash.display.StageScaleMode;
import flash.events.Event;
[Code] .....

Actionscript :: Flex WSDL As Ant Task?

Sep 8, 2009

Flex Builder 3 provides support to generate actionscipt from WSDL via the GUI ( Data->Import Web Service (WSDL) ) - but this sort of method requires that you check in the generated source. This is not desirable to us (we understand both sides of the 'should generated source be checked in' and we have decided that they should not) so we would like a method to generate the actionscript classes from an ant task. In this case, the WSDL would live in the file system.

Flash :: Task Management, Threads And Other Foes In Builder?

May 31, 2011

I'm building a simple task manager that will at this moment execute tasks in a serial manner. I have been reading about threads in flex and it seems it is not quite clear/prepared for real threads.

What I'm looking at this moment is a way to execute a method at the beginning or end of a flash builder update. This method will be the one that will take the responsibility to start tasks added in the previous update. The removing of finished tasks will be done through event notification (the task will notify it finished) then the scheduler will remove it and dispatch the message again to let the outside world know the task was over.

Flash - Flex MXMLC Ant Task Steals The Window Focus?

Aug 5, 2010

Has anyone noticed the following behavior building Flex programs using the mxmlc ANT task (running in the background): as the MXMLC task starts, it steals the window focus from whatever application is currently running, and then gives it back again! This is extremely disruptive.Is there a way to run the MXMLC task "headless" so it doesn't interact at all with the window system?I'm running on Mac OS X (10.5.8, if that matters), and Flash 4.0.1 (although the behavior existed on 3.x as well).

I use the stopPropagation() of event metod to stop propagation, then my blue bowl is not clickable anymore. (if you erase "stopPropagation()", it becomes clickable) It works.

But I want to change this statut. I've designed a ON/OFF switcher, who set the blue bowl clickability ON/OFF. And it doesn't work. I've tried everything : removeEventListener, an "if" who write "stopPropagation()" or not, but it fails, it stay on the beggining statut. Here's the very simple .fla to show you : [URL] What should be my "ON/OFF switcher" code ?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Options Bewildering - Task With Automating SWF Creation From An AVI Source (quickly)

Dec 1, 2008

I'm a complete newbie regarding Flash development, but I've been tasked with automating SWF creation from an AVI source (and quickly!). Once the SWF is finished playing it should endlessly loop from the last frame to about 5 seconds prior to the end frame. Think of a speaking character, followed by some idle movements. We want the idle movements to endlessly loop. What I've done/need to do is:

1) Automate the creation of the AVI. Done.

2) Convert the AVI to SWF (using FFmpeg). Done.

3) Write Actionscript to detect the last frame, and then jump
to some other frame.

4) Merge the SWF with the actionscript and produce a new SWF which is then placed on a website.

Being a newbie to Flash, I'm overwhelmed by the array of options out there for something so simple in concept. I'm looking for a command line solution so everything can be completely automated. My questions are: Can steps 3 & 4 be done with the FlexSDK? What would the steps be to get something like this accomplished?
