ActionScript 2.0 :: Performance - Retrieve Information Of Different Tables In Mysql?

Oct 4, 2004

I'm building a Flash website with database information with php>mysql>xml>Flash mx 2004. I'm having some major problems!I need to retrieve information of different tables in mysql, and was worried about performance issues.The first query gets the whole model list...The second query will be performed after a model is clicked. Something like: select * from modelinfo where modelID=modelIDinFlash.

The third query is what I have a lot of trouble with! This has to run on the same time or immediatly after the second query. It reads the picture urls and id's from that particular model. I need the filenames for the picture viewer.But everytime I try this third query, the site becomes very slow and have problems displaying the model info.NOW I have a temporary solution: in the first table I have a field which states how much pics each model has, and this number Flash uses to build the nr buttons. But this is not a very solution since I want to keep everything dynamic. I also want to build a drag and drop function... something like a shopping cart. For that to work, every picture must have an unique ID.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Adobe AIR Nested Tables - Save The Information For A Layout Of Movie Clips On Stage

Jul 24, 2010

I am trying to save the information for a layout of movie clips on my stage. I am using the sqlite functionality in order to be able to save the layout to the local database. Each layout consists of several movie clips. My plan was to store pertinent information regarding these movie clips (such as x and y position) in order to be able to reload some new clips in the exact same place.

My problem here is that I want to create just one row in my database for each layout, but I want one column in that row to store the information for each of those clips (in a single row). Is there some kind of nested table functionality in sqlite?6564

Flex :: Retrieve Information From Sql Database

Sep 30, 2009

I use flex and php to retrieve information from my sql database. What i have been doing is formatting the result from the database query into xml and then putting the result into an arraycollection. It all works fine except one of my database fields contains a lot of text that website users enter and as xml doesn't like tags like <> so I leave it un formatted but I would like to format it. Would I be better using flashvars or text than xml? Or is there another way?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Retrieve Some Information Back From LMS And Into Variables In Flash?

May 26, 2010

I am trying to retrieve some information back from my LMS and into variables in Flash with AS3. I used to be able to do this without any problems in AS2, but can't seem to find a way to make this work in AS3. In AS2, publishing with the "Flash with SCORM 1.2 Tracking" option, I could call a line like the following:

fscommand("LMSGetValue", "cmi.core.student_name,_root.stuname");

This would grab the student name from the LMS and store it in Flash in the variable named stuname.

Any way to do this with AS3? I can set values back to the LMS no problem still through fscommand such as score or completion, I just can't get anything back from the LMS such as student name or lesson location.

Android :: Retrieve Objects Item Information From ArrayCollection?

Aug 26, 2011

I am currently using the latest verion of Adobe Flash Builder to create a Mobile Application. For the application one feature is to allow the users to bookmark content an this is done by storing the id of the object to be Bookmarked into an SQLite db on the device. This part has been done successfully and they are stored fine.

Now what I want to do is to pull back the bookmarked id's from the database and pass them to a WebService call which needs to be made to an External Database. When I retrieve the Bookmark id's from the local database they are contained within object, I now need to find a way to take the id's from the database objects in the ArrayCollection and store them in a new array that will be passed to the WebService, as the webservice is expecting an Array of Int's and not Objects. Below is the code I created to see if the object items are within the array list of objects:

private function loop():void
{
var index:int;

ActionScript 3.0 :: MySQL, Php: Post A Variable, And Retrieve Info From Db In Flash?

Aug 2, 2009

Currently I'm setting up a webservice, which includes a login to access the member area.I'm testing all components seperately, and I've ran into a problem. When the user logs in I want flash to retrieve the user_id as a variable, so that I can use this user_id for member related database access. However, I'm having problems with retrieving the user_id.The login is done by inputting the email and password of the user. If these variables match the data in the database the user is send to the member area. I want to get the user_id by posting the email variable to a php file. In the php file the following code is responsible for this:

PHP Code:
$email = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST["email"]);

Eclipse :: Retrieve Build Information After Build Completes In FDT?

Jul 30, 2011

Using FDT, when I have a debug configuration with several operations in the launcher chain and the final launcher opens in Flash Player, how can I retrieve the build output from the console once the build is complete and Flash player is running?

It seems that once Flash Player has started the console clears to make way for the application's trace output, but I need to be able to look back over the events and build times for each item in my launch chain while Flash Player is running. Is there a setting I can enable to either log my build output to a file or to preserve it in the console?

Edit: I know I can still read the info when building normally, this question is specifically for building with the debugger.

Performance :: Optimization - Improving Performance With Large #'s Of Objects

Jan 11, 2011

I'm devloping some library classes for flocking/steering behaviours on large numbers of objects (2000+). I'm finding that at < 500 instances, performance is reasonable. As the numbers increase, framerate bogs down.

I've seen remarkable performance with libraries such as Flint or Box2D with ridiculous #'s of particles / objects, so it should be possible to optimize / refactor my code to be a bit better.

I'm aware of the basic optimizations, such as bitwise operations and optimized for loops. Are there any more fundamental approaches I should be considering? For example, currently each instance is a vector-based MovieClip. Would working with BitmapData be more efficient?

Performance :: Improve Flex Performance For Invisible Views?

Mar 19, 2012

We have a medium size Flex 3.6 application that contains around 20 different page views (managed via a single lazy ViewStack) each having multiple components. Most use custom renderers.All model data is loaded at startup and changes to model instances are communicated via binding and/or collection change events.Once the user has viewed each page at least once, all page views are instantiated and happily listen to update events.Which in effect means that each time a model instance changes, all interested views receive that event and compute derived data or trigger item-renderers.I have tested and confirmed this behaviour in a proof-of-concept application. Even when setting a list to being invisible, it still listens to collection change events and invalidates any renderer affected.What would you do?

Mysql :: Migrate A Preexisting Flex/Java/Hibernate/MySQL App Onto A CD For Portable Distro?

Feb 2, 2011

I have a typical Flex-based application that was written to use a Java/Hibernate/MySQL backend. The client changed the requirements - now they want to distribute it on a CD where the user can just run the app without any installation or a network connection.

To do this, I certainly need to eliminate the web server and the database server and adapt my application (with as few changes as possible, of course) to a stand-alone application that will fit on a CD/DVD. I've managed to export the data to XML and read it into Flex, but I'm wondering if there's a way to recreate the Hibernate data structures in Flex so I could change as little code as possible. Failing that, is there any way to keep the existing Java/Hibernate external to the Flex code but retrievable without installing Apache Tomcat or MySQL?

ActionScript 2.0 :: HTML Tables In Flash?

Sep 3, 2009

I need to create a 3-column 10-row (sometimes up to 12) table in Flash. I don't need any sorting or resizeable colums or anything like the DataGrid component offers. I'd be happy with 30 dynamic text fields, but that doesn't seem like the right way of doing it.I can make an XML document or an HTML page (although flash can't load HTML pages/tables if I understand correctly? Only basic html). I think XML would be easiest. This is for data that is reloaded every 15 seconds, so it needs to be somewhat efficient.Currently I am just loading htmltext using loadvars, but the problem is that I can't align the 3 columns.[code]

So basiclly they have to click on the picture on the left and than on the right to mark something as a answer which would link both pictures. Or another example, is linking two tables. If i had two tables up and the objective was for the user to link one line of the table to another on the other table, it would link and draw a link from one side to the other showing the link.

Database :: Get All Data From The Server As Raw Tables As XML

Oct 26, 2011

I have a flash project that connect with a server. I get all data from the server as raw tables as XML. So I have to do the server logics client side. (Don't ask why!)

I have looked for a framework or some code base that have solved this. A framework that can do mapping of keys asf. Basically a frame work that stores the data and handles retrieving of the data like SQL.

Ie. I can get user with the userid without iterating through all the instances. This gets more complex when you have more id in the same table.

So is there a data framework for flash out there?

(the HTML 5 sqlLight would be great if more browsers supported it)

If I use the same font with the new Flash text rendering engine it seems to respect the kerning tables as expected, but at this point we can't switch to the new rendering engine.
