Currently I'm setting up a webservice, which includes a login to access the member area.I'm testing all components seperately, and I've ran into a problem. When the user logs in I want flash to retrieve the user_id as a variable, so that I can use this user_id for member related database access. However, I'm having problems with retrieving the user_id.The login is done by inputting the email and password of the user. If these variables match the data in the database the user is send to the member area. I want to get the user_id by posting the email variable to a php file. In the php file the following code is responsible for this:

Im sorta beginner at AC3 and i've made a little FLA file wich i a want to compile and upload to a host for load it to my website.However, before i compile it i would like to put restrictions for it not to be loaded from other sites it might be requested by flash insert methods or whatever.Is there a way to retrieve info about the site or location the flash (swf) is being requested to be loaded/run?

I am creating a CBT course using Flash CS4 As3. I need to capture progress information from the user as they complete each unit in the course so that the next time they access the course they can pick up where they left off.
To do this I need to know how to write and retrieve this information to and from a text file or a cookie so that it can be retrieved re-enters the course.

When I run this I get an error on the first click and any next click on a row will give me the cell data of the previous click (so I'm one step behind).
What should I do to get the data from the cell to show up in my text field?

I made a movie and want to get info from the page that shows my .swf, using flashvars. The page says: <param name="FlashVars" value="myRef=felix" />
I want to load this value "myRef" in my .swf and post it in the URL. I tried :
onClipEvent(load){loadVars("_Root.myRef","POST") but this is not working at all.

I'm building a Flash website with database information with php>mysql>xml>Flash mx 2004. I'm having some major problems!I need to retrieve information of different tables in mysql, and was worried about performance issues.The first query gets the whole model list...The second query will be performed after a model is clicked. Something like: select * from modelinfo where modelID=modelIDinFlash.
The third query is what I have a lot of trouble with! This has to run on the same time or immediatly after the second query. It reads the picture urls and id's from that particular model. I need the filenames for the picture viewer.But everytime I try this third query, the site becomes very slow and have problems displaying the model info.NOW I have a temporary solution: in the first table I have a field which states how much pics each model has, and this number Flash uses to build the nr buttons. But this is not a very solution since I want to keep everything dynamic. I also want to build a drag and drop function... something like a shopping cart. For that to work, every picture must have an unique ID.

I'm trying to create a website that will grab content from a MYSQL database, and display it inside of a dynamic text field in Flash. There are several buttons on the page, and I want each button to grab different information depending on id #. So far, I've done a few tutorials both here and elsewhere, and I've finally figured out how to get the Flash to connect to the database, but I'm not sure how to get info based on the id. My current database only has two columns: id & home_body with one row. I want to add more rows to this soon so I'll have something like this:
id | home_body
1 | info <-button 1 grabs this
2 | info <-button 2 grabs this

I've noticed that when I use NetConnection.call(methodName) in my client Actionscript it sends a POST request off to the server. I thought this was odd because requests for data are normally GET operations but I didn't worry about it because it doesn't impact my applicationow I have our sysadmin complaining about the amount of data I'm shifting over POST requests because POST requests aren't cached by the web servers (and we are working with the kind of traffic levels where that matters.) Is there anyway I can make call() use GET?The code I'm using is all fairly standard, but here is the relevant snippit:

Ok, in a nuthsell I am looking to write a piece of actionscript using an included PHP file that connects to a mySQL databse. Depending on the result of the database, I want to know if its possible for the actionscript to then control a movie clip.
Ok I'm probably not making an awful lot of sense, so I'll basicaly lay out what I want to perform (if it is at all possible).
The flash file will essentialy be a map of the world and will list certain ports (i.e. New York Harbour, London Harbour, Sydney Harbour). The flash file then connects to a database to find out if each harbour has a sailing ship present. If a ship is present at the harbour, a movie clip of a ship would be turned on for that particular harbour, if no ship is present the movie clip would remain hidden.

I want to collect email addresses on my Flash/AS3 site for a project.I just have basic web hosting (just FTP upload space) and do not have access to a LAMP server.I assume this is what I need to be able to run PHP/MySQL etc.Does this mean there is no way of me making a form that will allow visitors to input their email addresses to sign up for a newsletter I send out?

When you login you type in your username and password and gain access to course.Down the line you play games and take tests. Using URLVariables you post and update a mysql dbase thought a php script.HOWEVER, at the moment I am cheating - I am passing in the username through the game with the scores.The reason is that I don't know where to keep that username when I first logged on. It should be kept somewhere as some kind of global variable.Perhaps it is kept in the container movie when we first gain access to course.

I am trying to set up a form in a flash movie that will post the users entry to a php page. I then need the php page to re-direct the user to a page to show a result.
I have the following AS in the flash form. It seems to post to the php page but from within the flash movie. Rather than taking them to the php page, as a non-flash form post would.

}
Is there a way I can get the flash form to post to the php page in the same way a non-flash form would post.
Hope this makes sense! Basically, when the user clicks the submit button, I need the browser to load another php page that gets the user's input via post.

I am trying to send a php variable with one field from mysql. When I print the php variable on my php page it outputs the field, but when I try to send it to flash it doesn't output anything.Here is my php script that tries to send a mysql field to flash and there nothing is shown. It works on my php page, it outputs the mysql field.

I wrote a little test program to learn about mySQL integration in Flash. The program looks as: I have one button and one dynamic text field. If I hit the button, as3 starts an URLRequest to a php file which then connects to a mySQL database. The requested variable is send to as3 and displayed in the text field. Up to this point, everything is working fine. But when I hit the button again, after I updated my db, the text field still shows the old value. Although it should output the current value.
So, here's my as3 code:

an easy answer for 99% of you. I have a custom class 'Users()'. In PHP I have all the values being populated correctly. When I go to Flash Builder - and do the test function - All the data comes back properly. However, when I click a button and refer to the lastResult property of the CallResponder - it comes up NULL the first time, and then if the button is clicked a second time it will return the correct result. What step am I missing? I had the same problem with something simliar last night and am getting BEYOND frustrated - especially since I know it is some SMALL detail I'm overlooking.So just for clarification - lets say there is a button named button1So button1's click handler:1) Validates the text input properties2) Asks the server if that user and password match3) If they do - then I want it to grab all of that specific users info and put it into a User class. Again - when I test this function/method from within Flash Builder all the values come back as they should. It's just on the first button click they come back NULL...he second click they populate fine - I.E.-
Alert.show(currentUser.userFirstName); (First Click - NULL)
Alert.show(currentUser.userFirstName); (Second click - "Jack")

I am trying to place a condition statement so that it will only do an action if the swf loaded into the varaible is the same or empty. I start of with loading the sample1.swf into the movieclip swf_holder
