I have results from my mysql coming to flash mx and I am trying to format it in rows like:

And I want about 10 records to show in flash at a time....

Case1: When a client makes a remoteObject request ie to save some Info... A call is made to Java SAVE_INFO method. If request failed ie came back to FaultHandler ( we save the info in an arrayCollection).Later we call SAVE_INFO again for each item in arrayCollection ie( if arrayCollection has 10 items.. We call 10 times the same method.. I know that's kind of stupid but we have no control over java to write a overloading method). Some times we see there are multiple records of same info in DB. I am not sure if this happens when looping over arraycollection and making calls or during normal one time call. We could not find a pattern to reproduce. Java LOG level is at Error level in production. can't set to INFO in production to monitor all calls. We dont know if this multiple times saved record is, the one in arrayCollection or normal one.

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to create a website that will grab content from a MYSQL database, and display it inside of a dynamic text field in Flash. There are several buttons on the page, and I want each button to grab different information depending on id #. So far, I've done a few tutorials both here and elsewhere, and I've finally figured out how to get the Flash to connect to the database, but I'm not sure how to get info based on the id. My current database only has two columns: id & home_body with one row. I want to add more rows to this soon so I'll have something like this:

Ok, in a nuthsell I am looking to write a piece of actionscript using an included PHP file that connects to a mySQL databse. Depending on the result of the database, I want to know if its possible for the actionscript to then control a movie clip.
Ok I'm probably not making an awful lot of sense, so I'll basicaly lay out what I want to perform (if it is at all possible).
The flash file will essentialy be a map of the world and will list certain ports (i.e. New York Harbour, London Harbour, Sydney Harbour). The flash file then connects to a database to find out if each harbour has a sailing ship present. If a ship is present at the harbour, a movie clip of a ship would be turned on for that particular harbour, if no ship is present the movie clip would remain hidden.
Currently I'm setting up a webservice, which includes a login to access the member area.I'm testing all components seperately, and I've ran into a problem. When the user logs in I want flash to retrieve the user_id as a variable, so that I can use this user_id for member related database access. However, I'm having problems with retrieving the user_id.The login is done by inputting the email and password of the user. If these variables match the data in the database the user is send to the member area. I want to get the user_id by posting the email variable to a php file. In the php file the following code is responsible for this:

I want to collect email addresses on my Flash/AS3 site for a project.I just have basic web hosting (just FTP upload space) and do not have access to a LAMP server.I assume this is what I need to be able to run PHP/MySQL etc.Does this mean there is no way of me making a form that will allow visitors to input their email addresses to sign up for a newsletter I send out?

Of course this has nothing to do with the context menu, but it would be nice if it was there. how can i make a save option so that a user would be able to save a picture (as if it was an html page)? Does it require use of xml in order a "save as" window can be opened?

My menu works fine with a local Array, but I seem to have an issue with the Type being a String and not an Array, but how do I set it up properly so the types are correctSo I started with a typical, non-dynamic array and it works to create my menu:

I have a typical Flex-based application that was written to use a Java/Hibernate/MySQL backend. The client changed the requirements - now they want to distribute it on a CD where the user can just run the app without any installation or a network connection.
To do this, I certainly need to eliminate the web server and the database server and adapt my application (with as few changes as possible, of course) to a stand-alone application that will fit on a CD/DVD. I've managed to export the data to XML and read it into Flex, but I'm wondering if there's a way to recreate the Hibernate data structures in Flex so I could change as little code as possible. Failing that, is there any way to keep the existing Java/Hibernate external to the Flex code but retrievable without installing Apache Tomcat or MySQL?

I am writing a Flash object which will be an on-line quiz. I got most of it working ok, but it reads the questions sequentially from an xml file. I want it to be random. Each record in the xml file has an 'ID' attribute. This is my code that currently reads the questions in sequential order:

There are 300 questions in the xml file. I want to assign a variable with a random number, then look in the xml file for the question which has the ID attribute matching the random number. How do I achieve this?
