where the Alpha Value is located? It is not show up on the properties menu. I'm trying to animate and object to fade in and out similar to this walk through. CS flash 5 seems be different.

I am learning flash and recently bought a flash template so I could see how it was structured etc. The vertical menu on the flash template plays fine when ran locally but when I upload it to the web the text on the vertical menu doesnt all show (i.e. the text is half cut off).
View 5 RepliesI have created this site with a expanding / collapsin menu. When a user selects a menu e.g. "hammers" then the menu is loaded and show the submenues. When the users closes the menu by moving the mouse away from the area the menu collapses. If the user expands the menu again the menu should have remember the last visit menu and show the menu.

View 1 RepliesI'm working on a mini-site and there is this opening page with some text bla bla and I need to give the viewer the 'don't show this again' option. I've discovered the components in Flash (yoo-hoo) and so far I've dragged a checkbox to the stage and only been able to change its label in the parameters in components inspector.
The opening page is in scene 1 and I just need the movie to play scene 2 frame 1 if the checkbox is clicked. How do I go about this? I'm very confused with event listeners etc. Could anyone give me a "for dummies" walk through?

Of course this has nothing to do with the context menu, but it would be nice if it was there. how can i make a save option so that a user would be able to save a picture (as if it was an html page)? Does it require use of xml in order a "save as" window can be opened?

View 3 RepliesI have a drag & drop activity where 3 of the drags can go into 1 of 3 possible dropzones and be counted as correct. On clicking 'Submit', if only some are placed correctly, there's a 'Show me' option - this is the bit I can't do:if some of those with more than 1 possible answer are correct, I don't know how to check which dropzones are free to place the remainder in. My code for the first bit, checking the hitTest is ok:

I am new to using Flash, but with some helpful YouTube tutorials and various Google searches, I was able to create a slide show that automatically transitions to the next after 6 seconds. I also thought it would be neat if I could give users the ability to go back or forward or jump specifically to a certain slide. But my problem is that after I click a button, the timer seems to be off.

A "Remove" context menu item is to be shown when the user right-clicks on a button. If the user clicks on the "Remove" option, that button should be removed from its Tile parent container. How would I implement this using Flex 3 and ActionScript 3?

I want to be able to have this operate in four stages. First stage: One frame will have all the question categories and values laid out in a grid. Second stage: I will click on a category and have it link to a frame that displays a question. Third stage: Once my participant answers the question, I will click once more and be linked to a frame that has the answer. Fourth stage: I click a link back to my initial grid of questions, but the category I just went through is now a different colour/blacked out/faded
I can do steps 1-3 quite easily, I just don't know how to make step four work. Just to clarify, say all the questions are in blue and I click "History for 200". I want to be able to go through, answer that question, come back to the grid, and have "History for 200" now be in red (or something). This would have to work for multiple questions, as it should show the participants which questions have already been asked.
I'm a quick learner and am just looking for the actionscript or whatever that requires this. My question wasn't really short enough for searches of Google and this forum to yield anything.
I am using this code to iterate through the contents of a movieclip which contains instances of "alien2" - my alien. I have each alien in a movieclip called squadron1. They all have their own layer and follow a motion path to recreate the attack sequence in Galaga. I can add action script to them by right clicking on them, but when I do this test below I can't call any MovieClip methods on them. It is my intention to add a function to each one via code to make it detect bullets, look for the player etc, but at the moment all I can do is add the code to each one individually on the stage.

View 2 RepliesSo I have recently aquired Flash CS4 and the Quicktime Export is completely different from any version before.I create a lot of 3-4 minute shorts in Flash and have always enjoyed the ease of QT export, but when I export with CS4 I get all kinds of ghosting, even on 5-10 second clips so breaking up the fla file's scenes is no help.After doing a lot of online research I see a few people have similar problems, but no concrete explanations or solutions.Has Flash-to-Quicktime compatability been disabled?I see that the "Quicktime Movie" export options is not available, only the "Quicktime" export, which yields inferior results. Since I export to the web and for dvd I don't want to have to export PNG sequences and rebuild the soundtrack, but is there simply no longer quality compatability between the two programs?Do I need to ditch Flash for Toon Boom?
View 8 RepliesI've imported a gif file into flash, traced it into the bitmap, made 24 symbols from 25 I wanted, I've distributed them into timeline, made a simple animation from few layers just for fun, when I made a new symbol it was from the first frame, only there was possible to see all graphic and select a new symbol, however now when I click on the first frame the last part of graphics that I want to convert to symbol is grey and I'm not able to select it (picture 4, the small grey stains), however with a selection tool it is possible to change a shape of the "stain". Other miracle I don't understand is the magenta square in left up corner, picture3 (it occurs only from 2nd frame), in library no symbol has this square.

There are 25 files and ideally I want to achieve the 'Lightbox' look so that the browser window dims and the video plays over the top. After looking around I haven't found any easy solutions.What is the best way to achieve this, bearing in mind I shall have all these buttons on a page and want to have the video 'float' on top of the actual site?I'm relatively new to this although a long standing flash user when it comes to animation etc - not great on scripting.
View 1 RepliesI have created a finite menu and it works fine, the only problem is that now I want to have the menu set to 50% alpha and when the user moves the mouse over the menu it gradually increases to 100%, Since I have never messed with Alpha's using action script.
