ActionScript 2.0 :: Make A Alpha Menu That Fades In And Out
Jan 17, 2005
I would really like to make a menu that fades in and out with actionscript. I am thinking that it would look like this [URL] - rollover businesses. I have been trying, but nothing is really working.
I'm in the middle of building a simple flash slideshow, using alpha fades between images. I have three layers, the first one being text, on the timeline for each layer/image. The other two layers are images, small footprint (sized and optimized in photoshop, each less than 100k). When I hit the Enter key it will play on timeline but the preview and fla file just won't start, hung up on the first frame. Flash 5 Pro 11.0.2.489 iMac 3.2 Intel i3 10.6.6, 8GB Ram
I'm new to Flash and I am having trouble getting this alpha tween to work correctly. It fades and then sometimes returns to full opacity. If I keep clicking the button it will eventually ease out and stay transparent.
var myalphaTweencornerout:Tween = new Tween(corner_btn, "alpha", Regular.easeOut, corner_btn.alpha, 0, 1, true);
The menu is like this http:[url]... (the site is in portuguese but it doesnt matter), when I click in on menu the actual menu does an alpha to 0 and the next menu appears using the alpha from 0 to 100 (and some animations like the cellphone going up).Now, how can I do a menu like that, whatever the menu I choose, it does that alpha animation ?
The first on is using the Tweener class and everytime that I press a button it fades out the loaded content of the previous selection, waits for it to finish and then loads the content of the button pressed. Everything works fine with this part.The second code is the on that is using an Array to dynamicaly rollover, rollout and keep selected the buttons.It was also changing the content of the mc that everything is loaded on but without this fancy fade in - fade out...!So i think its time for some code now...:
Code: Select allimport mx.transitions.*; import mx.transitions.easing.Strong; var FADEINSTART:Number = 2; var FADEINSTOP:Number = 7;
[code]....
Ive managed to make the previous mc to fade out but cant really make everything work properly...!

This is my first post here and it my be a hard one to understand? Overview I have four buttons on the main stage (info) (help) (bio) (main) When you Rollover a button it fades to another color/when you rollout it fades back to the original color I have a script that does the color change because I do not want to use motion tweens. Here is what I did I made a 2 frame MC named infoMC In the 1st frame of the MC I made the word (info) a nested MC and attached the color change code to it. The 2nd frame of the MC Is the same as the 1st frame but I revesed the color change
I created a custom component that is a s:SkinnableContainer. I want the background and other items to fade out when this component is visible. Something similar to what happens when calling Alert.show(..) so the Alert box is in focus and everything else is faded out.
I have the following script on a movie clip which fades the clip in when your mouse is over the MC and fades it out when your mouse moves off. It works fine, but it "flickers" when its faded in all the way. How can I stop that?
_root.fadeBox_mc.onEnterFrame = function (){ if (fade){ this.nextFrame();[code]....
This causes a mc to fade in and out on rollover/rollout. But what I wanna make is a box that fades in when pressed on the button and fade out when pressed for the second time. But if I say
on (press){ _root.fade = true; }
the mc fades in, but I cant do another on (press) to fade out. Is this too confusing?
where the Alpha Value is located? It is not show up on the properties menu. I'm trying to animate and object to fade in and out similar to this walk through. CS flash 5 seems be different.
I have created a finite menu and it works fine, the only problem is that now I want to have the menu set to 50% alpha and when the user moves the mouse over the menu it gradually increases to 100%, Since I have never messed with Alpha's using action script.
ok so this is my first attempt at action script, and have three pretty thick books (flash bibles all, because its not just actionscript im new to) so, here goes, im trying to make a horizontal menu where the OTHER buttons fade on mouseover. i dont have tweens or anything except layers (for the bg and all buttons on individual layers) so I searched the net, and seems everyone wants to fade the button they are over....well I had to pick something so close as to what I want yet totally not give me a clear defined way to get the opposite result, so after many hours, heres my code for button1:
I am working on a DVD User Interface for my final project in Photoshop. For extra credit points I am trying to figure out how to make the menu items to light up when the pointer is touching the menu icon.
I need a tutorial for a hierarchical drop down menu system that drops down 3 sub levels. Do I make the items in the sub menus individual buttons and then insert them into a movie clip or make every sub menu item a movie clip and insert them into buttons?
Im trying to make a menu for a web page using menubar and menu components, is ther any way of making os specifing that the menu can get drawn out of the canvas, since i need that the bar is thin for getting in a space betwen to image headers.
Is there a way in AS2 to stop a child movie clip taking on the parents alpha value? I want the parent movie clip's alpha to change on rollover but not the movieclip I am attaching from library via linkage.
Is there a command out there that stops this parent/child inheritance?
My problem is how do i make the character disappears when move on to certain places(clicked by user). For example i have a Object(house) with x=233 and y= 134, when i click on the object (house), the character will move to that current object(house) and when the character has reach or move in the house, the character disappears(character.alpha = 0).
Does anyone know how I can achieve the following effect: As I rollOver one object, everything on the stage except that object fades out slightly (i.e. change in alpha).
What im trying to achieve is an alpha effect with image transitions. I have some links that I want to make an alpha fade for images when the users passes over the buttons. The effect that im searching for is like this one:
[URL]
But only, they should be triggered by rollovers not mousemovement. In addition i have some images connected to the buttons. for instance on productslink the product image should be "alpha 100%" and the previous image should animate from 100 to 0 % alpha.
ActionScript Code: var currentLink:MovieClip = a_mc; //buttons mode[code]...........
when i click on the button the alpha of this button will be 0.5 , when i click on another button the alpha of the previous button is still 0.5 , and so if i clicked on all buttons the alpha of all buttons will be 0.5,,,i didn't want that , i want when i click on the button , alpha return to 1 for the previous button .
i am trying to do is make a simple text animation, i need the text to go from small to large and fade. I figured how to make the text move with a tween and fade with the alpha, but i cannot get it to go from small to large and back to small.Here is an example of what i mean...
I am creating a 50 state map. You can see the swf right here - URL... am trying to quickly make it so each state fades to 50% opacity on rollover. But I haven't been able to make it work.[code]
