I've got a layer full of keyframes. It's basically a circle that turns on/off, flashes, whatever,using motion tweens, but most importantly, it has a defined position on the canvasI'd like to place it in another spot, but when I try to select the whole layer and move it, it moves only the keyframe located below the playhead(I think that's what it's called), which won't do me any good.
View 14 RepliesHow do I move an entire layer? I want to move ._y and ._x of all objects on a layer beneath a mask to make some animation.
View 1 RepliesI have 2 layers in my timeline. One is on the main timeline the other is inside a movieclip. I want to make one of the layers in the movieclip render above the main timeline layer while the others render below. How do I do this.
View 1 RepliesIs it able to control everything in a layer? Like if i have 2 boxes in a layer, and then i want to write some code like this:
"if(player.hitTestObject(buttom)) {
MYLAYER.x -=1;
}
What im trying so say is.. Can I do a hitTestObject that moves everything in a layer?
EDIT: What im trying to say is... Can I control a layer like if it was a object?
I would like to place a video object above one movieClip instance ("mc"), but below another movieClip instance ("mc_top").
I instantiated the _root.flashVid object by dragging a "New Video..." from the Library to the stage, and giving it the instance name "flashVid".
I create mc, then paint a blue box, then I create mc_top, and paint a yellow box. The flashVid instance is on the Stage (_root) from the beginning. Now how do I get the flashVid above "mc" but below "mc_top"?
// Create movieclips and paint boxes.
var mc:MovieClip = _root.createEmptyMovieClip("test",
_root.getNextHighestDepth());
mc.beginFill(0x0000ff, 50);

Don't know if the flash layer on the view stack contain only the compiled flash swf file
View 1 RepliesI am doing some research on creating clcikTags. I read a few places that the clcikTag should be on the top layer. That has been fine, but now I want to loop it and I usually put my actions in the top layer. Will this cause a problem? Am I better off just putting my loop action on the last key frame of the clcikTag layer?
View 3 RepliesIm creating a program that is designed to allow the used to select 3 pictures (movie clips) and print them off on a single peace of paper.
The program works by allowing the user to select 3 graphics (the graphics are actually instructions for various exercises) and then moving the desired movieclips onto the stage. This all happens on a layer named "Content"
So far the program will allow the user to select the movieclips and will move them into place on the Content layer as well as move smaller versions of the pictures into a preview box the only thing it does not do is print. (the most important bit)
Is it possible to create multiple layer masks over a single layer using Actionscript3?Below is the flash effect I wanted to create with masks.First it starts from A and goes to B and C simultaneously.Then from B it goes to H and D simultaneously (the same applies to C).This is how the end result will look like.ps. I need my background to be transparent. I'm embedding it into a web page later.
View 2 RepliesI can't seem to go to a master edit file that is supposed to show both the body (layer 1) and wing (layer 2) of a flying bird animation. Is there a way to merge these two since I'm planning on shrinking it down and making a lot of birds?He merged the two layers at 14:24 of the video without even explaining how he went to this so called "Edit Master Movie Clip" that seems non-existent on Adobe Flash CS4.
View 1 RepliesI want to create a simple mask. A white oval on a second layer on top of a bottom layer that just has a word of type. I want the oval to travel from the upper left down to cover up the type. When I create the second layer, create the oval, and choose a distant frame for the "end" of the oval's positioning, my type in the first layer disappears as soon as I press F6 on that second layer. Why? Why is it nuking my first layer?
View 3 RepliesI have a container MovieClip called Drags where I can drag stamps (other MovieClips)--they are added to the Drags container via addChild. I have a second container MovieClip above that one (display order-wise) call Paint that contains a bmp, and some sprites used for adding a layer of paint.
My question is this: I need to be able to click on the Paint layer when I am above a draggable MovieClip and trigger the MouseEvent for the correct object to drag it around, but the item must always remain below the Paint layer.
I'm trying to do a little comic comedy type video in Flash. I've done an outline sketch with the pen tool of my first character, now I want to color it BUT I want to keep the colors and the outline sketch separated on two different layers. Is there a way I can select the path (outline) on layer A and then colorize it with the bucket tool on layer B? The problem I'm having is that every object I select it automatically jumps to that corresponding layer.
One reason why I want to do it this way is I still want to continue working freely on the outline sketch since it's not fully finished, so that I just can blend the colors out and keep working on the outline, at the same time I want to color it while I go just to see where it's going and to make sure that I'm not wasting my time unnecessarily with trying to do a outline just to find out that it won't work out at the end.
how to do a comic type animation, how to create the characters, how to make them move and talk? It can be a free or paid resource.
Why this code doesn`t work?
tip_052.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,ove rSub);function overSub(evtObj:MouseEvent) {
tip_052.visible = true;
else[code]....
appear this error "Scene 1, Layer 'Layer 3', Frame 1, Line 291083: Syntax error: else is unexpected.
this is the END of the code:
this.createEmptyMovieClip("pos", total);
pos.moveTo(radius.b, 0);
pos.beginGradientFill("radial", [0xCCCCCC, 0x999999], [100, 100], [0, 255], {matrixType:"box", x:-radius.b-radius.b/2, y:-radius.b-radius.b/2, w:radius.b*2, h:radius.b*2, r:0});
for (var radians = 0; radians
I get a error for the last line. The error is this:
**Error** Scene=Scene 1, layer=Layer 1, frame=1:Line 11: ';' expected
for (var radians = 0; radians
I cant get it working.. I have flash mx 2004 pro..
Is it possible to add layers, re-order layers, move movieclips from layer to layer or specify which layer a duplicate movieclip appears on at runtime with AS3?I am aware of the depth properties and the functions associated with that but it would be easier to have a concept of a layer because I am dealing with masks.I have a nasty feeling I'm gonna be told that layers don't really exist within an swf and that depths and setmask are all there is to work with.
View 4 RepliesI am trying to manipulate (move up and down, enable/disable and launch a form) child controls inside a panel control. However I am unable to get the id of the child control on which the click event occurs. To illustrate, I am trying to create similar functionality as is available. I am trying to create the up-down buttons that you see in the image at http:[url].......

Is it possible to control a Flash movie from JS when you have no control over the source? I have decompiled the movie to see its inner workings, but I know nothing about Flash, so I'm mostly in the dark. I found this resource, Interaction with JavaScript, but it's not working for me (probably because I don't know what message to send to the movie).
View 1 RepliesI have a flex application and have embedded a flash (SWF) file into it using <mx:SWFLoader>. There is an "Exit" button on the Flash file. I want to be able to handle the button click event on the flex application.
So when that button in the flash file is clicked, I want to perform an action in the parent flex application.
I've got a for loop running in a function. I want to break out of the entire function if a condition is met in the for loop, and obviously carry on within the function if not. I've read a little about using labels, but I'm new to actionscript and most of it's going completely over my head. Here's my code.

I'm trying to get objects to drag and drop. Instead of dragging just the circle, it drags the entire screen. I can get it to work if I use "this.circle.startDrag()" but I want to be able to use the startMove and stopMove functions on different children, text boxes and other objects generically. Here's the code:
circle.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, startMove);
circle.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, stopMove);
function startMove(event:MouseEvent):void {

I've stupidly made a flash document with the default 550x400 pixels and I now need to scale all the content (buttons, MC, dynamically loaded images)
Is there an easy way to do this without selecting everything (problematic by the way) and using the transform tool?
How do we make an entire block of code (maybe 10 lines) as comment.
Maybe just to deactivate a code block when trouble shooting AS code.
From Actionscript 1.0 - 3.0
If so, how do you do it?
How does one make a preloader in AS 3.0 for THE ENTIRE swf?
I'm certainly generally familiar with making preloaders in Flash, yet with changes to the Flash environment in the last few years, my situation may not be so straight forward:
I have a very developed Flash 3.0 application where the timeline is not used in the traditional way, everything is Class based, and there are all kinds of assets in the library that are used dynamically.
This type of preloader is useless, because (I guess) that "this.loaderInfo" is associated to the timeline (which has nothing on it) [code]...
I work on a PC and use flash CS3 and am truly struggling to slow down this entire file someone kindly made for me. I can move all the end key frames from 40 frames to 600 frames but it is working out how to do the others accurately plus the key frames on the arc start line which is the 3rd line down.
