Professional :: Slowing Down An Entire File?
Mar 28, 2011
I work on a PC and use flash CS3 and am truly struggling to slow down this entire file someone kindly made for me. I can move all the end key frames from 40 frames to 600 frames but it is working out how to do the others accurately plus the key frames on the arc start line which is the 3rd line down.

I'm making a very simple Flash game which is just somewhat of a training project for myself. All it involves is clicking a button which takes away a random bit of health from an opponent, and I'm quite proud of myself for figuring out how to subtract the random number hit away from his total health and show the resulting number above his head. (lol i fail)But my problem has nothing to do with actionscript, it's my cloud layer which I've motion tweened across 150 frames inside the "cloud" movieclip. All the clouds do is slowly move across the stage (I created the cloud movieclip to where it doesn't jump back to it's original form when the 150 frames are done, so it looks like one continuous cloud scene). Whenever I test the project, it goes at about 5 fps, which is very slow (supposed to be at 30 fps).I know it's the clouds that caused the laggyness because I temporarily removed them and it goes just like normal.

I have a tileList that I'm loading swfs into. One of my swfs has a particle system in it and every time it is loaded into the tilelist the particle system slows down. Every time the swfs are loaded I use tileList.removeAll() to clear it and then tileList.addItem() to repopulate the tileList. My guess is that this isn't actually unloading the swfs completely so they are building up in memory. What do I have to do to unload the swfs completely to prevent them from slowing down?

I have a Flash animation of the Yin Yang symbol that is rotating clockwise in a circle. The image is rotating a bit fast for my project. Could someone tell me how to go about slowing down the animation so that it does not spin so fast? I am currently using CS3.

Is there a simple way to scale my entire movie? I've tried doing it with the "modify -> scale" and dragging, but that only scales the selected symbol. I also tried going to the last frame, selecting all and scaling again, but then I have stuff in the middle of the movie that doesn't seem to scale correctly.

I know I can use the XMLdocument class and go back tothe old way of doing thinsg. So I have an AS3 Air app which is successfully reading and writing to an XML file. Now I want to replace an attribute or an entire node if that's easier but I can't figure out how to target it. So the XML starts with an empty node:
[code]....
What I want to know is how to target the status node (or any other node for that matter) so that I can replace it or it's attribute. So, let's say I have a bunch of these guest nodes and I want to change the status for the first one, how do I do that using the new syntax.

I have a service running off a FMS and I was wondering how I would get a stream to keep downloading the rest of the file even while streaming. For example, like YouTube downloads the entire video while you're watching it, much like Progressive Download does but I want that from my streaming server.Or even better than that, if I could buffer at least 20 seconds ahead of the current stream position. If I use NetStream.setBufferTime(20) - the stream doesn't play until at least 20 seconds has been buffered, but I want it so that it will play even though it hasn't buffered completely, but will keep buffering while streaming.

Ive been looking into whether or not, it is possible to load the entirety of site content dynamically from a text file. I know, how to specifically choose and reference from one txt file to a dynamic text block. But, is there a way to have one huge file? That is to say, can I target certain things within a txt file?

as you first get to this website, a neat little :10 swf plays. right now, i have a 'home' and a 'back' button on all the pages linked to a static screenprint of where my neat opening .swf ends.
is there a way to prevent that entire opening flash file from replaying again when visitors hit their own browser's 'back' button from the other pages, and just give them the last frame?

I have been having this Error #1009 issue repeatedly. My understanding of the error that I am getting is that I am trying to call something that does not yet exist. My latest 1009 Error:
[Code]...
My question is this: Is there a way to preload the entire animation so that I can avoid this issue (assuming I am understanding my issue correctly)? I know you can do a preloader, but my understanding is that those are for large images or movie clips. I don't have that. just one image that loads and stays up for the entire video.

Panning effect I have attached the file i am working on..maybe that makes it easier to understand

Can a finished flash file be resized.
Stage is at 1684 x 1322 animated map operated by buttons in a static key located outside of map border, all on stage. Map also pans/zooms.
Two scenarios:-
1) resize stage and all contents down to a different size.
2) resize the animated map down but more so than the static key (sits outside the map) which should remain readable.

So I have a movie containing some content that I would like to pre-load. I made the pre-loader and it works fine but it could be more friendly for the user. Because the movie is quite long in duration, I think its good enough if I only load say the first 35% of the movie and then let the remaining 65% download while the user is watching the first 35%. Is there a way that I can modify my pre-load script to do this to say something like: 'load content for frames 10 to 200, play from 10'.

So as to make things less confusing (I had a lot of different layers), I made each scene in my animation in its own file. Now I want to put them in the same file, so I thought I could make everything in one file into a movie clip and put it into another file that way.
However, it doesn't seem to work! I can highlight everything, convert it, and paste it into the other file... but when I paste it, it only pastes the first frame of my highlighted selection! How can I convert the whole thing into a movie clip instead of just one frame?

We have 10 Windows computers on a small unmanaged gigabit network with a DD-WRT Linksys WRT-54GS router and Dlink 2208 hubs, and were having problems with the network dieing, and nobody able to reach the internet or other computers on the network. It started happening suddenly. There are additionally 3 VOIP lines on this network too and they would be killed.
In troubleshooting, I could see an enormous amount of activity coming from one section of the network. Disconnnecting this segment brought the network back online and functioning correctly. Further tracing based on the flashing lights on the front of the hubs narrowed the problem to one computer, a new Windows XP-64 bit computer. When I brought up the Local Area Connection Status in Windows, I could see an enormous number of packets being sent.
Close to a million packets per second were being sent from this computer.Adobe Flash Player (ver 10,1,82,76) was taking a tremendous amount of CPU time for an idle computer, and killing this in task manager resulted in the network coming back alive immediately. Is this a known problem with Adobe Flash going nuclear and killing an entire network?

I want to add an animated .gif file to my movie. So I created a new symbol and then imported the .gif file to the stage. This created the symbol containing the animated .gif.I dragged the symbol onto the scene where I want it. However, the animation seems to play at a different speed (fps) than normal. So I changed the fps of the symbol (at bottom of Timeline where it says "fps"). But for some reason this changes the fps of the rest of the entire movie.

I have a problem with the camera slowing down in my project.I thought it could be because of the complexity and memory consumtion of this work, so I created a completely new movie, typed such code:
quote:
var camera:Camera = Camera.getCamera();
var video = new Video(camera.width, camera.height);
video.attachCamera(camera);
addChild(video);
[code]....
And... this time the camera's fps stayed 25fps all the time. To be honest - I really don't know why :| I mean, I'm happy the fps stayed stabily at the level, but I don't know what to do in the mentioned, complex, project to make the fps faster. I can't just add the trace line.

I have a slideshow on the opening page of my website and about a minute and a half in, it starts to slow way way down. It looks choppy and really bad - I had the slide in its own file and it was fine - then I made it into a single movie clip and cut and paste it into the website on the first frame so it would play automatically right away - then it started doing the slow thing when I previewed it

I have a gallery flash that loads a pictures from xml. The pic slides on from the right. When btnNext is clicked it slides off to the left and the next pic slides on from the right. There is also a btnBack which slides on the previous pic. There are around 200 pictures.
I have now spent weeks on and off trying to figure out why it slows down and starts to chug! I figured out, with the help of individuals on this forum, how to remove the pictures when they are off stage. It definitely helped but its not yet resolved.
This flash is quite processor intensive with the amount of graphics. But the thing is, when the flash start off it goes fine but after so many pictures it starts to chug. Which seems to me that there is somehting it is not GCing or something of the sort!
