I'm using Adobe Flash CS4I'm currently trying to fit a flash intro inside the browser window (height 100%, width 100%). I've tried changing the height, width attributes but with no luck. What am I doing wrong?

View 8 RepliesI have tried everything to get my Flash movie to completely fill the browser but to no avail. I have made the dimensions 100% w + h as well as making all the margins 0 px. Am I missing something as when I compare my HTML source code it seems the same as others but the result is with me having white borders around the published file.

I know I can use the Multitouch capabilities in AS3 to recognize pinch/zoom gestures etc., which I can use to zoom in on object in my movie. Can I set it up differently, so pinch/zoom effects the entire browser window? Basically treat a pinch zoom in flash as if they did it somewhere in the browser. For example I'm testing a flash animation on a droid tablet. When the html page loads, I can pinch zoom on the flash object as if it's not even there. But after I've "clicked into" the flash object to interact with it, pinch/zoom no longer does anything.

Is there a simple or standard technique to accomplish proper resizing? How do you do it?
I am working on a Flash app that is 900x700 pixels. When viewed in misc. browsers at 1024x768, the browser chrome causes robs too much of the vertical space and the app appears in a window with a vertical scrollbar. Unacceptable.
The flash app will be launched via a link emailed to the viewers.
I'd like to avoid resizing the flash app and am wondering if there's a way to do the following via javascript, with no clicks involved:maximize the current browser window remove current window address bar and tabs / switch browser to full screen view (equivalent to pressing F11).
An alternative would be to resize the flash app vertically to match the browser canvas height to avoid scrolling. This may cause the app to become unreadable, so not the best approach in my case.
UPDATE: Seems that browser resizing and autoswitch to full screen won't work and neither will the flash app auto resize. What is the best approach then? And, some users may have browsers with toolbars or open a small browser window.
The only idea I have is to use javascript and display a message to users with small browser windows to pres F11 manually. The audience is executes and some may not even know what an F11 means...
So as to make things less confusing (I had a lot of different layers), I made each scene in my animation in its own file. Now I want to put them in the same file, so I thought I could make everything in one file into a movie clip and put it into another file that way.
However, it doesn't seem to work! I can highlight everything, convert it, and paste it into the other file... but when I paste it, it only pastes the first frame of my highlighted selection! How can I convert the whole thing into a movie clip instead of just one frame?
I was wondering if its possible to make a website fall asleep when the focus is shifted away from the entire window.... so something like onBlur. I've seen this on a few websites and I got thinking how they did it. I'm guessing they have some kind of JavaScript code in their HTML page that can detect an onBlur or killFocus or whatever you call it - then the flash movie picks up on this and takes the appropriate action - like pauses a movie or displays a message "please come back" or things to that effect.
EXAMPLE: Go to [URL] and go to the WANDER AWAY section and click his links. Provided you have enough "money" (you can earn "money" by navigating around) you'll be taken to pixel ranger etc. Now click on the [URL] window and you'll see its been greyed out and is "asleep". You have to click the movie to awaken the site.

View 2 RepliesIt is a small widget. It lives in an iframe, and because of this, this method is not working. And since the iframe is loaded from a different domain there is no way to reach the top level window object.

I'm working on a school project. It contains a main section which has 7 buttons. Each of these buttons is a character which you can zoom in to, see who they are, click and see a small cinematic/animation and proceed to it's respective section. I have a couple of concerns.
1. What is the best way of loading my project? I've been thinking of using the loadMovie and have placeholders, each section with a progress bar. what should I load when?
2. how can I make the flash movie resize in the browser window using actionscript ? so that I have no problems with screen resolution sizes. I use 1280x1024, but I guess there are still people on 800x600(which is lame) Here is an example of the resizing I mean: [URL]

1) get user screen width and height using java script using the functions available (screen.availHeight and screen.availWidth) the screen size is available by using the functions but not applying to the flash object

Should I try converting getURL's to javascript calls?
I can open a new window using window.open() in ExternalInterface.call() but then I want to be able to write contents to the new window. Since, I cannot get the reference of the window back from window.open() call, I am not able to do anything to the window once it is opened.
I do not have any control over the HTML in which my swf is displayed.
Has anyone been in this situation before?
Update: After a few hours of trial and error I found you can get out of this situation by storing your window reference globally and referring to the same global reference whenever you need to access the new window.
I have a web page that uses javascript counters to count user "active" time, meaning the time a user spends viewing this page (and not some other page). I do this by starting/stopping them using the [URL].. However, when the user clicks on a plugin inside the same page (flash, java, etc), the window loses focus and window.onblur is fired. Is there a way to tell that the user is still on my page?

I have a ColdFusion function which sends analytics called from a Flex sendPageAnalytics() function to a SQL database when the user navigates - this works perfectly.What I am trying to do is have the Flex application send a bunch of analytics when the user closes their browser, therefore providing information about the last navigation.
I have used an ExternalInterface callback and listener for window.onbeforeunload and a trace statement tells me that this is working fine.My problem is that when all bundled together, I get as far as tracing out that the sendPageAnalytics() function has been called, but I do not get a sendPageAnalyticsFaultHandler() trace or a sendPageAnalyticsResultHandler() trace, which I do on every other sendPageAnalytics() call.

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to run my swf by going directly to it on my serer eg(www.example.com/mySWF.swf), later I will embed it using HTML or PHP, however Im wondering why it keeps getting resized to the window size, I want it to stay the size of the swf. In the publish settings I set dimension to Match Movie, and I set scale to No Scale in the HTML tab of publish settings, am I doing something wrong or can you not have it stay its original size without emedding it into html?

View 6 RepliesI am working on a flash site where the user scrolls down in their browser to view all of the content, the problem is that when the user goes to the next page of the site the browser is still scrolled down to the bottom and so they have to scroll to the top of the page to view the content they must read first. Is there any way I can avoid this without using scroll bars in flash or is there a way I can reset the scrollbar of the browser the flash site is being viewed in?
View 2 RepliesI created a Flash application that reads POST data from a form. A user clicks the button, and the data gets posted to the flash app in a new window (_blank). Now takes the data and then spins a wheel to give users a prize. If they don't win a message pops up letting them know they didn't win. If they don't win, clicking the OK button needs to close the browser window.
I've tried a number of solutions and it seems that the only way to get this done is to launch the window with javascript and then use ExternalInterface.call('window.close'); to close the window from within the Flash actionscript (3) because otherwise the window won't close (I've tried just using window.close and window.close() with no luck)
I understand how to launch a new window with javascript, but I don't know how to simultaneously launch and POST data to that window (the Flash application has to have the POST data. Is this the best solution? Is there a way to close a browser window easier than what I'm describing?[URL]
