I'm using Flex to generate text that will be copied to the clipboard so a user can paste a grid into Excel. For instance it might generate the following text which can be copied into Excel:
<html><body><table><thead><tr>
<th>COL1</th>
<th>COL2</th>
<th>COL3</th>
</tr></thead><tbody><tr>

I have some columns that contain numbers that should be considered text, for instance they have leading zeros that shouldn't be removed. How do I set the formatting for these columns so the leading zeros don't get removed in Excel?
I have a class that inherits from EditManager and provides these methods:
public function performCopy():void
{
var copyOperation:CopyOperation = new CopyOperation( getSelectionState() );

I'm working in Flash Builder and Catalyst CS5 building a project that will aid technicians in finding policies and tools easily. One area that I want to focus on is the note taking section. I want the user to beable to input text and then have a "Copy Notes to Clipboard" button that will gather all the data from those input fields and store them in theclipboard. This way all the agent has to do is paste into the note section on their service ticket.The following is an example of the fields that it would require.Name:Phone Number:Issue:Symptoms:Troubleshooting Notes: also want the label for the text field to be included within the notes. So when someone pastes the notes it won't be just the contents, but will include the name of the text area as well. "Phone Number: 555-123-4567" instead of just "555-123-4567."
View 3 RepliesHow can I input varables value into a textfield?var i:uint=0
for(i; i<4; i++){
pageText.text=i+1
}
If i use i+"something" then it can get the i value, but other than that it could not get i value.
I enter a set of 4 values in one text box and i display it in a splitted way in 4 other small text boxes using this code:
array.push(Number(t1.text));
array.push(Number(t2.text));
array.push(Number(t3.text));[code]........
But now I need to know how to do the same thing for any dynamic value that is entered.Say I have a text box tt1 and a button b1. When I enter any value (say 6) this number of text boxes are created (6 new text boxes with names t0,t1....t5)I have another text box tt2 and a button b2. When i enter a set of values in it (say 10,66,33,45,2,4) I need these values to get displayed in those text boxes t0,t1,t2..
Over the course of four nights in April and May of 1941, Belfast was attacked by the German Luftwaffe bombers. Their aim was to destroy strategic targets in the city which were aiding the British War Effort.What I want is for users to be able to select the word 'German Luftwaffe' and then they will be brought to another frame with information on that topic.
View 1 Repliesi am a beginner user of flash & i think i have mentioned this in my earlier post here few days back , i have just made a little dynamic text field and loading some html text and images into it via xml CDATA node. everything is working fine i just wanted to put some animation effects on my text field while loading it through xml ...i added some motion tween in the beginning which actually moves whole text field from out side of canvas to inside at its original place with ease out . its looking fine to me but i noticed that dynamic text loads a bit late and during tweening i just see empty text field .so i was wondering how to put some simple effects on loading dynamic text
View 3 RepliesI need to create a function with takes a text field and does two things with it.The first is to split text up into individual letters with each being a separate symbol. Basically the equivalent to breaking apart the text field, then converting each letter to symbols, then giving each letter its own unique name This is the way I'm doing it now and its very time consuming and not at all easy to update to text.The second part is to create an array containing all the instant names.For example if the text was "hello world", the function would create symbols with called n1 (containing h) , n2 (containing e) , n3 (containing l), n4 (containing l), n5 (containing o), and then the array would be [n1,n2,n3,n4,n5]
View 2 RepliesI have made a simple button using static text. On the over state I have changed the colour of the text and in the properties inspector typed in the email commanAnyway the text becomes underlined and when I test the movie and mouseover the text jumps up a little and is not smooth. Is there anyway to get rid of this underline. VERY ANNOYING.
View 2 RepliesIs there a way to use a button to emulate the print screen button on the keyboard?I'm trying to "capture" what is showing in the projector...I've found keypress stuff, understand how to do that, just can't find anything on print screen.

View 3 RepliesI'm hoping someone has done some research into the possibility of being able to paste an OS clipboard image (say from a screen grab) into an SWF file (one that would be running on a web page)?

View 1 RepliesI have an in-house application that is populating several HTML rows with text that needs to be copied. I already have that text being sent to my flash movie as a variable via Javascript. I also have a button that when clicked will copy those formatted lines of text in the method required for pasting into a different, unrelated application. The button method for
Code:
System.setClipboard(myTextField)
works just fine.
However, per "instructions" I need to establish a keyboard shortcut that fires the same "setClipboard" action. Currently, I am using External Reference to apply a javascript key combo capture that attempts to call the function within the Flash movie to set the clipboard. However, placing that setClipboard inside of the function called via javascript doesn't work. The setClipboard action only seems to work when attached to the button.
I know there are restrictions with the newer flash player requiring user interaction with the movie to access the clipboard, but is there any way to simulate the button click or package the setClipboard action in a function that will allow this to work? This is an in-house application so the actual security issues are not as prevalent.
This is what I have in place currently. I know the javascript communication works, as I have been able to send commands such as:

I want to set the clipboard to be a specific string. I've read about Flash's hack and the ability to hijack the clipboard + Adobe fixing this. I just wanted to know if I would have any problems if an end user has a Flash 10 player? What I could do with my solution is to simply pass in a variable via Flashvars + when a button I have on stage is clicked, will copy the Flashvars value to the clipboard:
System.setClipboard(myFlashVarVariable);
I just thought I'd ask anyway - the last thing I would want is something that worked perfectly in my environment that didn't work for all end users!

When a user press print screen button bitmap is put in clipboard. Is it possible somehow to get it from there in flash(or at least in AIR)?
View 3 RepliesI have an unstructured multiline string to parse in Flash (not csv, not xml, just plain text) I want to be able to separate my multiline plain text into lines of text as a starting point. I realize that my regex has no issue if I hand-type my data into the textarea, but issues arise when I paste from external sources.
I wonder, is there any setting on Textarea that I forgot to set so that the newline character is trimed upon my paste?
[Code]...
It turns out that parsing it may not be the problem, but the fact that my data may have been malformed when I paste from clipboard might be the real root cause. Does anyone have any suggestion in how to solve this problem? Should I perhaps make a paste handler to ensure data's integrity?

I realize that there is an issue with pasting from Clipboard to Textarea. The newline characters from original content would be lost once they reach Textarea.
It looks like following in text editor, plaint text mode:
var1 hi
var2 hi2
var3 h3
But when I copy it out of Flash after pasting them into it, the data becomes like following
var1 hivar2 hi2var3 h3
This is also the output if I use trace to look at the data in Textarea after pasting. It turns out that parsing algorithm may not be the problem, but the fact that my data may have been malformed when I paste from clipboard might be the real root cause. I had implemented copy to clipboard functionality. It is working fine with all version on IE but not working in FireFox.Detail are

Is there a way to Get the print screen image from the keyboard. Say for example I had a image hosting site and wanted a feature where users could paste in an image and simply host it that way. would that be possible? EDIT: Would it be possible with some sort of third party plugin? Are there any existing Firefox plugins which do something similar?
View 6 RepliesI think the title tells it all, but just incase, I will clarify. Is it possible to copy part of the stage to the clipboard in order to paste that into an email or word document.
I need this as an option to the user, not during publishing... So basically, a button on stage that copies a specific area/coordinates.
