I've just started out working with cookies in flash and looked at the poms tutorials [URL]Is there a list of commands that could get the users browser software etc for example?
I want to create a flash swf file that will store a token in Local Shared Object. What do I need to do to read that token and look it up in the database on the back end? Is this possible at all?
here is a possible scenario:
User visits my web page A token is generated on the server and stored in the database Token is then saved in LSO User leaves the site (maybe shuts down his computer) and comes back later Token is read, located in the database and the user is recognized (lets say that token is a foreign key that links to other user data stored in the db)
I researched this for quite a while and all I find is that flash can use LSO to store read data for flash movie... Does this mean that the data can not be accessed by the server?
I am trying to create a login system where a user would be able to login inside of one flash game on say, [URL], and then that same login data would be preserved for all the games on [URL] and also the games on [URL] and [URL] I am new to shared objects in flash so if anybody knows of a way to do this in either php, as3, html, js (or a mixture of all) then that would be great.
(PS. I would prefer not to use a method that requires a javascript bridge to retrieve cookies as this is impossible for games that are played on game-portal sites where only a swf file is used)
I have XML data that is loaded into a mulitdimensional array.
I would like to call that information later in my actionscript but it seems that the array has not populated before I want to use it.
I am using the onload() method of the XML object.
I can trace the contents of the array directly after it is loaded with my loop, but later in the code a trace returns "undefined". My array is globally scoped.
I'm not even sure if this is possible, but I'm looking to retrieve a string from an embedded XML file, using a variable as the XML element's name. Here's what my code currently looks like, although it doesn't quite work:
Code: private final function getAreaTitle(_index:int):String { var _element:String = map_XML.mapnode.@title[_index];
[Code]....
I'm not massively familiar with the XML format, so apologies if I've not explained myself very well. As you can hopefully see, I have one XML file containing my map data and another containing my text, such as area titles and locations. What I'm trying to retrieve in the example above is the string with the label "title_training" from the "text_XML" file. Of course, the function should be able to return the title for any area, so I need to find a way of converting "_element" in to the right format
I have a page, written in php that recives and ID value for Album information stored in an XML file. The XML File contains a links to "Samples": I'm trying to get my flash file to "retrive" the data (the ID value) from the php page (the flash file will be embedded), and make a list of samples that can be played. A sorta of an Audioplayer. I already know how to retrive XML data, but the retrival of the ID value from the PHP is a puzzle for me...
I'm using mx.rpc.http.HTTPService to retrieve data from a web service. On the initial call to "loadWsData", HTTPservice accurately retrieves all the data.
However, on any and all subsequent calls HTTPService does not accurately retrieve the data; rather it always retrieves the first data set. I've confirmed that the web service is providing accurate data, both from web browsers and a ruby ws client script.
i have a datagrid which grows in size depending on the result of a call to my db. The call to the database returns an object with 30+ values for each row. When the number of rows returned exceeds about 80-90 the datagrid renders odd. It displays the first 50-60 rows fine but then it displays blank rows and they even continue to display outside the border of the datagrid.what is happening? Im using mxml webservice to retrieve the data.
<mx:DataGrid dataProvider="{resultsData}" rowCount="{resultsData.length}" allowDragSelection="false" id = "confRoomLookupResults" width="948"
i've been setting up a high score table in my game, and everything is working, but i cant work out how to get variables from the URLLoader.data that im retrievingif i trace loadedScores.data, i get this&name1=matt&score1=323250&name2=1234567890123456.. . and so o've tried passing it to a URLVariables constructor, but it says the string doesnt contain the correct name/variable pairs or something, and loadedScores.data.name1 doesnt work.
how to create a form submission and retreiving data from it. Is it possible to create /link our data to Microsoft Access? whats the difference between get and post ?how will we retrive data using both methods?
I'm developing an AS3 module where the user interacts with certain hardware. One part is highlighting the hardware's features when the user hovers certain points on it. There's quite a lot of work to be done here (about 6 modules with about 30 highlights each) so I figured I would make it as changeable as possible.
On the stage I've placed all instances of a movieclip that acts as the pointer for the highlights. This movieclip uses a class that animates it upon mouseover/mouseout (hence only two animation functions are required for them all). At the same time I want to display a unique text for every point, and this is where the trouble comes in. I figured I could attach data with each instance to the class somehow, and then create a new text field upon accessing the class. This is what I came up with:
Code: // Features f1.name = "Vxla mellan anvndnings- och vilolge."; f2.name = "Display."; f3.name = "Visa den elektroniska programguiden.";
[code]....
As you can see I tried using the instance property name to attach the data, it failed though (I didn't get a compile error for this but I couldn't retrieve the data in the class).How would you approach this? Do I have to create a variable for each instance's data, then match them (same number etc.)?
I am creating an application in Flash CS4 that will load data from an XML file and add a movieClip for each item to the stage. Each movie clip contains a NumericStepper component and Input text field.
The user needs to be able to change the fields and update the XML file for the event.CHANGE event.
The XML file needs to be formed like this. I need to be able to navigate between sections and load the data for each one.
<sections> <section> <data>
[Code].....
I just need a push in the right direction. I using the Object Oriented Programming methods with a Document class and movieClip classes to control my application. I have been spinning my tires creating several crippled versions.
It is only a "proof of concept" piece of code and it "lives" in the first frame of the timeline of the Flash IDE. What happens? When I compile my SWF (AIR for iPhone), I get this error:
I need to access successfully loaded XML data from the main document class BUT from objects multiple levels deep. I could hack around this setting properties deep down from the top but it doesn't seem like good practice. Is there a better way?
I want a random image from the xml to be loaded and displayed when gallery is opened, together with gallery thumbs. Then remaining images are to be loaded in the background.
I am having problems pushing and retrieving data from the array that I have set up. The trouble I am have relates to the following code (but I attach a zip with all code and assets).
I would like to get the content of a shared object (flash cookie) generated by a player, or more precisely by quizzes generated by Articulate Quizmaker.I know where is generated that cookie, I just would like to get the content of a variable inside. But impossible to access it :sI tryed :
var user_so:SharedObject = SharedObject.getLocal("nameOfTheCookie"); if(! user_so.flush()) // sends a boolean, true if the cookie exists {
I need to save email-id in my login form through the cookies. if I use shared object I am able to save but my requirement is need to save in cookies. How can I save? I got sample code from net. Attaching that code `package com {
import flash.external.ExternalInterface;
/** * The Cookie class provides a simple way to create or access * cookies in the embedding HTML document of the application.
I'm developing a video player using WPF and AxShockwaveFlash.
It has following steps:
find video from a web service. it acquires information of each video. pass video information to AxShockwaveFlash and embedded flash video player. embedded flash video player starts streaming download from web service.
I have a problem on step 4. Step 1-3 shares a cookie (CookieContainer), but step 4 can not. How can I pass its cookie to embedded flash video player?
I made a blog widget in flex. I need manipulate cookie in my widget which is added to my user's blog. But under some circumstance, some blog hosts forbid accessing to javascript, so i can not access cookie in flex by externalInterface. Does anyone know how to access cookie in this context?
I already tested SharedObject class in native actionscript trying to get the arbitrary name of cookie from local system but it doesn't work.For your information, I am working with cookie returned from user's browsing sites (not my own sites). That's is to get some cookie values resulting from browsing of site A from user in order to work with my own application.
Long time leecher, decided to join in and ask a question. I have a video auto play on a site i am working on [URL].. Issue is, it auto plays every time the page loads...
Is there a way for me to set a cookie that flash could look for and either choose a welcome back video or not auto play video?
EDIT: SharedObject is awesome. Ignore this i did it.
I have developed a flash application with .NET. That application is something like image cropping. That is user can upload any image from anywhere. after he cropped that image we save that particular cropped image in .NET. The problem is the cookie set into the Temporary internet files. That is If I have uploaded a image for cropping then I have to save that cropped image. Once again I have upload the new image for cropping. But in flash that new uploaded image file is not displays. It always displays the image file which I was uploaded at first time. This was occurred in both IE & Firefox browsers.
I have been at this for 5 hours and I'm about to pull all my hair out.I have a seemingly very simple problem that I can NOT find any reason for why it's happening.I built a simple flash doc that has three distinct pieces in it (2 frames):
1) A FLVplayback component on frame 1 - (working)
2) An AS listener that checks for end of Video and progresses to 2nd frame - (working)
3) a cookie script that checks to see if the video has been played and if it has skips frame 1 and goes to frame 2 (also working)
The video successfully plays the first time and moves to the 2nd frame. But, when the document is reloaded it checks the cookie (finds it) skips the 1st frame, moves to the 2nd BUT it does NOT display ANY of the elements in the 2nd frame. NOTHING!! There is a simple graphic and button that allows the users to replay the video (by simply clearing the cookie and going back to Frame 1) but they do not show up. (However, they DO show up if the video plays first and moves to frame 2 via the listener, just not via the cookie).I have placed traces in each frame to show if it is indeed arriving on frame 2. It is, but NOTHING shows.I have rebuilt the FLA step by step testing each time and have found that it works perfectly, right up until the FLV Component is dropped in. Then it moves to the 2nd frame and shows NONE of the 2nd frame elements. URl...
I remember that in flash 8 you needed to read the cookie via php script to get it into flash. Has that changed in CS4? Is it possible to read the cookie directly from the swf now? If not how does one go about getting cookie information into flash CS4?
