ActionScript 3.0 :: Retrieving Data From A Shared Object Generated Automatically?
Sep 26, 2011
I would like to get the content of a shared object (flash cookie) generated by a player, or more precisely by quizzes generated by Articulate Quizmaker.I know where is generated that cookie, I just would like to get the content of a variable inside. But impossible to access it :sI tryed :
var user_so:SharedObject = SharedObject.getLocal("nameOfTheCookie");
if(! user_so.flush()) // sends a boolean, true if the cookie exists
{
I have used SO's to save and retrieve simple variables successfully, but I am a problem saving and retreiving array data in the following example: [URL] A user selects several options using radio buttons. All that happens is that the SO should store in memory which buttons the user clicked on. If run through flash with the output window, you can see that when the save button is clicked, the data is saved. But when you load the activity a second time, the array data that was stored in the SO only gets recalled as 'undefined'.
I'm creating a small app to run from CD-Rom/local installation that will use multiple shared objects for data storage. To ensure proper saving without surprising the user with a permissions dialog unexpectedly, I'd like to request unlimited data storage on first time app launch - Joey Lott shows how to do this in the Actionscript Cookbook... request=mySO.flush(1024 * 500);
My question is,Can I perform this permissions request with the user a single time with a generic app SO in global fashion, so that the permissions would be set for any SOs created during the use of the product (all written to same SO directory),or do I have to request permissions for each and every SO created? Since the latter would be unacceptable from a UE standpoint, that means stuffing all app data into a single SO which doesn't seem so great from a data config perspective...
I'm using a loader for people to use to upload their own images for a background, and I want it to remember the image the next time they come to the page, so is there any way to save the loader data in a shared object? I haven't tried just using something like
I have a client that is running a 64 bit system. On my 32 bit system my Shared Object writes the data without a problem but theres hangs when the call is made to write the data. Any ideas how to go about solving this problem? I would think it would not matter if the system is 32 or 64.
I'm wondering if it's possible to access a shared object's data (once it's been changed) without reloading the swf. Specifically, I have two swfs: one changes the data in the so and lets the second swf "know" via a localconnection. I have a function in the second swf that fires via the local connection.[code]This function looks for the new value however it doesn't show the updated value in my textfield unless I refresh the browser. Thoughts?
I have 2 swf that will be loaded on a website. One suppose to generate a bytearray and being passed over to another swf.
The problem is that when I save the bytearray to a SharedObject in user's local file, the second swf doesn't get the updated variable value from the first swf.
I've set the second swf to retrieve the value every one second and it don't get updated until I reload the page.
I flushed and close the connection to make sure the data is saved on the local path and that is not helping as well.
I also considered using LocalConnection as well but there is a bug in flash player for mac that stopping it to work between swfs on mac. Left me no choice but to use SharedObject for my project.
I am new to ActionScript. I am designing a calendar with schedule just like outlook calendar. I have 30 or 31 small text boxes for each month. I would like to save data in the text boxes so that data remains in that even when the file is closed. I used the following code and it works fine.
[Code]....
My question is, I have totally more than 360 text boxes for 12 months. How can I save all data using shared object? I tried loop, Array and function with the above code. But it did not work. You can also tell me if there is any other way to save data using PHP MySQL or ASP? If so how to do that?
I'm trying to loop through each of the arrays stored in a Shared Object and place the individual array items inside rows of textfields. This isn't quite working - it fills all the text fields with the last data array only:
Code: var elemSharedObject:SharedObject = SharedObject.getLocal("elementChoices", "/"); //Load data into fields for (var prop in elemSharedObject.data) {
[Code]....
I need a way to increment "elemSharedObject.data[prop]" after it's filled each successive row of textfields.
I'm using Flash and AS3 to write an app for iOS and for Android and I'm saving XML-data using shared objects. Now it struck me that when I supply an update to the app store and the user updates the app, will the shared objects remain intact or will they be replaced? I'd very much like them to remain as they were.
I have a Flash Form that is fairly long (about 8 short pages), so I have set the form up so that it can be reviewed when the filler-outer is done and they are ready to submit it. I'm using a Shared Object to store the information they enter so they won't lose their information if they hit refresh or need to come back later.
If they go back to the page with comboboxes on it, the comboboxes have reset to the default. The answer and data in the SO haven't changed, but it looks like it to the consumer/viewer.
So, I'd like for the boxes to display the choice they picked when they were on that page. I need use the value from the database to show the particular value in the ComboBox whenever the user returns to that page.
I'm trying to compile a SWC file with a lot of assets in it in an as easy possible way. "Easy" for a not so technical end user, not perse the way to acchieve that goal. Goal is to streamline a process to generate SWC files with as little possible tech for the person doing it.So, sort of like manually doing:
* Import files into Flash
* For each library item select "Export for actionscript" and have Flash generate the basic class.
* Publish as SWC
but without the Flash IDE and the possibly labourous process.Right now I'm trying to put an AIR project together that generates classes based on a file list. The classes can than be added to a Flash Builder library project to generate a SWC file from it (copy in finder, check classes in Project properties, done)I can generate the classes for graphics like below. Such a class can then be instantiated from within the host application [code] Allthough this adds another level to the display list (which looks kinda sloppy to me), it works.However, for this to work for sound files I need to create a class implementing all possible methods and properties of the soundclass and handle the events and such. There is no way to extend Sound and then do something like you would/can with graphics.[code]Does anyone know if there is a way to get to the format the Flash IDE generates the classes with?
I dynamically generate movie clips in a for loop. But at the end of the loop, only the last created movie clip exists. Others simply disppears.[code]...
An image, like a jpeg, has a bunch of metadata stored in it. The "IPTC Core" metadata usually includes the photographers name, address, title, description, etc. Is there any way to access this information using AS3 so that, say, captions for images in a flash gallery could be generated automatically?
I'm basically loading an XML file to assign instances of a movie clip a distinct value, which it uses to modify its height. So, I'm looping through the xml and instantiating my class Object each time (Rect) and then placing that Object into an array:
Code: function loadXML(loaded){ if(loaded){ var boxArray:Array; xmlNode = this.firstChild;
[code]....
the trace here always comes up undefined. "listPosition" in this bit is an Rect parameter, defined in the previous bit of code as "i", so I can keep track of the order of the stack.I've found one or two examples of putting objects into an array and getting them back out, but it doesn't seem to work with this, maybe because I'm using a class. I don't know.Could this be an area where I need to use the array access brackets, like around the movie clip the object is loaded into. I've tried everything I can think of -- referencing back to the movieclip, adding extra objectRef type parameters... nothing has worked yet.
I've just started out working with cookies in flash and looked at the poms tutorials [URL]Is there a list of commands that could get the users browser software etc for example?
I have XML data that is loaded into a mulitdimensional array.
I would like to call that information later in my actionscript but it seems that the array has not populated before I want to use it.
I am using the onload() method of the XML object.
I can trace the contents of the array directly after it is loaded with my loop, but later in the code a trace returns "undefined". My array is globally scoped.
I'm not even sure if this is possible, but I'm looking to retrieve a string from an embedded XML file, using a variable as the XML element's name. Here's what my code currently looks like, although it doesn't quite work:
Code: private final function getAreaTitle(_index:int):String { var _element:String = map_XML.mapnode.@title[_index];
[Code]....
I'm not massively familiar with the XML format, so apologies if I've not explained myself very well. As you can hopefully see, I have one XML file containing my map data and another containing my text, such as area titles and locations. What I'm trying to retrieve in the example above is the string with the label "title_training" from the "text_XML" file. Of course, the function should be able to return the title for any area, so I need to find a way of converting "_element" in to the right format
I have a page, written in php that recives and ID value for Album information stored in an XML file. The XML File contains a links to "Samples": I'm trying to get my flash file to "retrive" the data (the ID value) from the php page (the flash file will be embedded), and make a list of samples that can be played. A sorta of an Audioplayer. I already know how to retrive XML data, but the retrival of the ID value from the PHP is a puzzle for me...
I'm using mx.rpc.http.HTTPService to retrieve data from a web service. On the initial call to "loadWsData", HTTPservice accurately retrieves all the data.
However, on any and all subsequent calls HTTPService does not accurately retrieve the data; rather it always retrieves the first data set. I've confirmed that the web service is providing accurate data, both from web browsers and a ruby ws client script.
i have a datagrid which grows in size depending on the result of a call to my db. The call to the database returns an object with 30+ values for each row. When the number of rows returned exceeds about 80-90 the datagrid renders odd. It displays the first 50-60 rows fine but then it displays blank rows and they even continue to display outside the border of the datagrid.what is happening? Im using mxml webservice to retrieve the data.
<mx:DataGrid dataProvider="{resultsData}" rowCount="{resultsData.length}" allowDragSelection="false" id = "confRoomLookupResults" width="948"
i've been setting up a high score table in my game, and everything is working, but i cant work out how to get variables from the URLLoader.data that im retrievingif i trace loadedScores.data, i get this&name1=matt&score1=323250&name2=1234567890123456.. . and so o've tried passing it to a URLVariables constructor, but it says the string doesnt contain the correct name/variable pairs or something, and loadedScores.data.name1 doesnt work.
