ActionScript 2.0 :: Scale A MC To 50 Pixels In Height
Jul 29, 2007Propably a stupid question but how do I scale a MC to be 50 pixels in height (width should be scaled proportionally).

View 5 RepliesHere's a very simple AS3 project consisting of one class which draws a rectangle. When I run it, the rectangle is clearly larger than 100x100 pixels.
Edit: I know that it isn't correct because, though I have my screen resolution set to 1280x800, if I set the width to 500 it takes up almost all of my screen.

import flash.display.Sprite;
import flash.events.Event;[code]....
Here is my problem. I have a file set to 1000 pixels in height and length. My image covers that size. I am trying to create a series of panels that are lined up next to each other and than motion tween it so it looks like the background is moving. I am creating each panel by copying and pasting it and placing them next to each other so it forms a single large line. However, the screen does not allow me to see everything and tends to cut off my panels and I don't know how to fix this. I have it set as "Show All" and it still does not work.
I was told to covert it to background strips dynamically. Can someone tell me how to do this step by step?
I was told to do this, Covert the files to movie clips and that add this:

I want to change the height of a textfield to 60 pixels, without changing the size of the text, and still keeping it centered. When I want to change the size of the texfield, I can change the length, but the height is unfortunately locked. Any ideas? (Unfortunately I can't provide a link or an image, since I haven't made 50 posts)
View 1 RepliesIs there a way to trim a bitmap so that the width and height are not effected by transparent pixels?
View 5 RepliesI'm creating a tabbed UI and using this tut for the nav of it (but with only 3 tabs):
[URL]
..when one of the tabs is clicked..it will show the appropriate content below when it jumps to that frame. However, each tabs associated content varies in height. Is there a way for me to dynamically scale the height of the stage according to which tab is clicked?
I have a strange and extremely annoying problem.I have a simple would-be navigation bar that works perfectly with this code:
Code:
import gs.TweenLite;
var buttons:Array = new Array();
var btnProps:Array = new Array();[code].....
It takes the 5 items in the menu and when they are individually moused-over, they simple move 10 points to the left, then when the mouse is off they move back to their original position.Now I want to change it so that they scale up a tiny bit in both width and height. I've been trying to do this for some time and I have no idea why this code does not work:
Code:
var _rect:Rectangle = new Rectangle(_btn.x, _btn.y, _btn.width, _btn.height);
btnProps.push(_rect);
}[code]...
Everything in these two versions is EXACTLY the same except for this part I've posted.
http:[url]....In my opinion, the way in which the photographs on this website scale, is perfect.I know how to load an image, dynamically, and add it as a child and in fact scale it.What I don't know, is how to scale it in the way the designer has in the example above.
The code I use to scale the Child (the image) at the moment is this:
//IMAGE WIDTH OVER HEIGHT
var ratio:Number = (1052/700);
//SET HEIGHT OF CHILD[code]......
The designer appears to have used minHeight and minWidth commands to ensure the image doesn't scale beyond certain height and widths.
If I have a rectangular shape under some angle, 45 or similar, how could I tween its width or height so that it scales with that angle?
View 0 RepliesDoes anyone know how I can retrieve the "ORIGINAL" stage height and width that was set during compile of an Air/Flash ApplicationI have set the Application to compile to 1920x1080;I have stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.SHOW_ALL;and stage.nativeWindow.maximize();But when I trace stage.stageWidth I get 1280 which is the resolution of the screen.I was hoping to get the 1920.I cannot use stage.width or stage.getBounds(stage) because this returns 6000. Due to items being masked off screen.
With the stage.stageWidth being the screen resolution, I was hoping I could use that and mathematically work out the original using stage.scaleX. but even with SHOW_ALL scaling the entire application, stage.scaleX returns 1EDIT: I know what "Show all" does, you do not need to tell me about it.I also know what stage.width and stage.stageWidth do, but stage.stageWidth is returning what I believe is incorrect in this example and need an alternative.
How does flash scale for fullscreen?For example, if I draw a shape and give it a width and height of 100px (square)...does that scale up proportionally when the flash is made full screen? Or does that object stay 100px x 100px?
View 2 RepliesIs there anyway (with action scripting) when having a Flash Video set to Expand to 100% Width and Height to have certain elements within that video maintain their inherent size and not scale ?URL...Notice how the BG Scales, but the video in the center does not nor does the footer. Is this performed with CSS and using multiple DIVs with varying Z Indices.
View 4 RepliesI'm trying to make a movieclip scale proportionally only if the item is being resize smaller than the current.Obviously I can use the ScaleX/Y values like so:
if (cont.scaleX < cont.scaleY ) { cont.scaleY = cont.scaleX; } else { cont.scaleX = cont.scaleY; }
I need to restrict/reset the scale proportions only in special case that the stageWidth/Height are smaller than the movieclip.
so instead of the pixels being dissolved, the pixels being added? :
ActionScript Code:
var Anim:TransitionManager = new TransitionManager(blackbox);
Anim.startTransition({type:PixelDissolve, direction:Transition.OUT, duration:1, easing:None.easeOut, xSections:35, ySections:35});
basically what i would like is the end point to be the start point and the start point the end point.
I have a swf file that loads into my main movie, and within that swf there is a masked image that i would like to scale using zoom in and out buttons and also by using a slider bar.However i cant find any tutorials that will allow me to combine the two.I have used the following code for the buttons. Which seems to work ok but i would like it to be a little smoother. (using speed or some sort of easing??)
ActionScript Code:
zoomPlus.onRelease = function(zoomIn) {
if (test_shirt.shirt._xscale == 400 && test_shirt.shirt._yscale == 400) {[code]....
but for this code it keeps shrinking my initial object down to 10 pixels by 10 pixels..
I have a movie clip called column1_mc. when I click a button I need to move the movie clip in incremental moves consisting of 30 pixels.
column1_mc._y = 30;
Does not work because that is giving a _y coordinate.For example.I need to make the movie clip jump to _y 300 but make 10x30 pixel incremental jumps. Moving 10 times 30 pixel jumps.
Scenario: main moveiclip with 4 other clips in it. I want the rolledover clip to scale up and all the others to scale down and blur.
Question: What is the most effiecent way to code this. Would it be a "for in loop"? I am trying to minimize the code and would rather not use a whole bunch of if then statements.
I want my flash content to scale when I scale my browser window.
View 5 RepliesHow can I convert the current scale of the instance to 100% so I can easily "visualize" and manage the instance when I modify its scale? Here's the actionscript, it works, but I just want the temp._xscale and temp._yscale to be in percentages, not real numbers.
Code:
USflag.onMouseDown = function ()
{
var temp = USflag;
onEnterFrame = function ()
[code]....
One last thing, what's the tag you have to put that is designed for boxing actionscripts? I'm suing [ code ][ /code ]
I would like to use a movieclip to load a flv video. The problem I have is that I want to change the video dimensions. I've tried several software to change the video dimensions but as far as it seems all of them keep the same height-width ratio than in the original video. Is there any software that would allow me to change the height and width without keeping the same height/width ratio as in the original video file?
View 3 RepliesI am resizing a movie clips height automatically to match the height of some dynamic text that is displayed above it (will eventually be loading it from xml ). is there a way to keep a safe margin top and bottom? this is my code so far Text_Box_Graphic.height = Text_Box.height;
View 2 RepliesMy Flash image will not scale.if you zoom in, it gets chopped up. if you zoom out, it has a big blank area.What should I change in order to have this Flash image scale just like the rest of the site? [URL]It is the Flash in the center.
View 1 RepliesI want to constrain the height of a flex component to the height of the browser viewport.
The component's children are populated from a database table using a repeater, and are basic checkboxes. There are enough of them that the flex app ends up being about twice the height of the screen, which means some of the rest of the layout goes crappy on me. How can I force the component that contains these to limit itself to the size of the viewport?
How to set a Spark List height to the height of its content?Tried this:
var lastRow:IVisualElement =
myList.dataGroup.getElementAt(myList.dataGroup.numElements - 1);
myList.height = lastRow.y + lastRow.height;
It works in case of a single item, but lastRow is null in case of more items.
By default the height of an Flex Accordion container is the height of the initially selected child. I'd like to be able to set the height to the tallest child so that no resizing or scrolling is necessary when other children are selected. I do not want to use the resizeToContent property. I want the size of the container to stay constant no matter what child is selected.
My current thought is to extend the accordion class setting the creation policy to "all" and then override the measure function to loop through all the children and find the tallest one and use that for the height. This seems a little kludgy though, so I'd like to know if there is a better approach. Ultimately my question is: is there a way to set the size of an accordion container such that the container never resizes and scoll bars are never necessary to display any of the children?
I have a bit of graphical content inside a symbol that I've created in Flash CS5. Let's call it FunGraphics_Art, it's set to export, and it extends MovieClip.When I edit the symbol in Flash and I hit control-A, the properties panel tells me that all of the content has a height of 72 pixels, positioned at 0,0.The content consists of a few (classic) textfields, and a couple of Checkbox components and a few bits of vector art.All the content is on a single frame, no layers.So far, so good. I export my art as a .svc and am able to use it all in code just fine. However I then add the following bit of code to my .as file..[code]Somehow, there's something strange going on that's causing Flash to think my exported symbol is about 75 pixels higher than it actually is. I've looked around for invisible "blank" textfields, but haven't found anything yet.
View 2 RepliesI've created a dynamic text field, and set autoSize to true, so it can grow was tall as necessary. I then want to use the _height value to size a container graphic (speech bubble). Here's the (simplified) code:
[Code]....
Returns 19.6 followed immediately by 35.2. It's as though reading txt._height causes it to recalculate, so it's correct the second time. I also tried the textHeight property, which also seems to get recalculated after _height is accessed. This sequence, for example:
[Code]....
I have a problem with an flash object. The object is an expanding topbanner, but when retracted, the on mouse over effect still appears on the invisible part of the banner. The code is the following:
<div id="exp_banner" style="width:930px; height:180px; overflow: hidden; position: absolute; z-index: 100;">
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="test.swf" width="930"
[Code].....
I have tried to add a style height to the object with an height of 180px, but then the banner scales down.
I made a scrollbar class that works pretty well. I'm trying to come up with an idea for how to set to the height of the scrollbar vs the height of the scrolling content. This is a standard thing that happen in the OS. Seems there should be a minimum number and the maximum value should be reached as the size of the content approaches the size of the visible area.
View 3 RepliesI am going to embed a Flex app on an html page. The html page is already going to have a scroll bar to scroll up and down. The contents of the flex app are very dynamic, and I don't want to have an extra scroll bar when there is already one. So is there a way to make the height of the swf match the height of the contents of the swf?
