ActionScript 2.0 :: Stop Video Component Without Disabling It?
Nov 20, 2009
I have a presentation with two pages, each of which contains a video component with an associated video.
When the user clicks a button, the presentation changes from one page to the other. If a video is playing, I need to be able to stop it on the page change.
I can use stopAllSounds();, but if the user returns to the page again, the player is doesn't work unless the user clicks the Stop button before attempting to restart the video.
Is there any way to pause or stop the player that will still leave it fully functional?
I have a video component play on frame 1. When my movie goes to frame 2, the audio continues to play even though the video component is no longer on the stage.
If you go there and click on the "Corporate Videos" section, you will see me pop up and start talking.
But... if you click on one of the videos below... I keep talking over the top of the new video.
Is there a way to "tell target" the one video to stop playing from the action of clicking play on the other video so I stop talking the minute any button on the page is pressed?
I am using AS3 with the FLV Playback component for all these videos.
I am putting together a basic video portfolio and have everything working except when I click the back button to get back to the thumbnail page (contained on frame 1) the audio from the video continues to play, I'm not an expert on as3.
I have tried a lot of code in the function below ( like "stopAll();" ) but nothing seems to work.
There seems to be tutorials on starting the next video at completion of the previous one using the FLV2.5 Playback component, but stopping a video playback event when a new one is triggered. Ex. Video one button is clicked and video starts playing, viewer clicks video two button mid way through playback of video one and starts video two. How do I stop the playback of video one when video two button is clicked to avoid both playing simultaneously?
I have many buttons in HBox. Instead of disabling each button, I've disabled HBox. But I am able to click buttons even though the HBox is disabled. Disabling parent component will not make difference on its child? it shows like disabled but mouse events will generate.
I have a website that plays video1 when it opens. When you navigate to next page the video stops. One of the buttons on the second page plays video2. The problem is that video 2 won't stop using the same command that made video1 stop.
I am wanting to play a number of movie clips and flash produced video clips. On the main timeline I have a frame for each clip I want to play. In that frame is a flash movie that contains the video that I have embedded onto the timeline for the movie. The filesize for this project is massive and I am struggling to work on the file. I want to be able to play the video files with the playback component in each of the frames where the video was.
I have trouble in choosing between external video with playback component and embedded video . I have tried adding video to dynamic page and everything is perfect .This video I have imported using the option File ->import video -> external video with playback component. If I try to execute flv on another system , the video is not playing eventhough it is in library.
So, I have imported video using the option of embedded video and this worked fine on another systems as it embeds video. The video plays for only 2 min 54 sec. I have compressed the bit rate to how much ever I can in premier pro. It resulted in reducing the size of the file but still I see the video occupying more than 3500 frames in the timeline. I feel this is not optimal.
I built a timeline based player with 2 menus and many videos that you can play. The buttons move the timeline to a frame label and the video plays. The back button has a stop function built in it so the video stops playing when its hit.It plays wonderfully locally but once on a server after a few clicks it boggs down and sometimes the audio from the last video remains playing even when prompted to stop. I was pointed to use the add and remove child functions to prevent this but being very new to Flash and 100% self taught i have zero idea on how to do this. The link to the player is[url]....Even if its a link to a tutorial or something.
I know how to make a video (instanced as showreel) stop when clicking on a button that that navigates to another section/frame, since otherwise I would still listen to that video while not visible. The problem is when I'm in another frame that doesn't have that video, when clicking on the menu to go to whichever other frame, it looks for that it to stop if it's playing and it and doesn't find it, and so there's an error.
How can solve this? Maybe I should put an order saying something like if there exists a video in that frame instanced as sowreel, stop it, otherwise don't do anything as there is nothing to be stopped. Or assign the order to the frame (which is called motion), but I don't know how to do that, can someone help? The code I have is:
I have created my first flash video and wish to allow the visitors to play the movie themselves instead of having the movie play automatically also have a stop or pause button too.
I am developing the video player with custom video controls and I want to stop the video buffering when my video is paused. As sson as I play the video the buffering starts from the last bufferring point.
I am having trouble with event bubbling when using the flash video player I've tried several methods to stop the player, before submitting here - but nothing I've tried seems to work The scenraio is: The site loads great - the buttons function correctly When the fourth button is click - it loads a frame with an embeded FLV player (the default vid player Flash uses when importing video into the swf) When the fourth button is click (Cheetah Coloring System)The video starts to play When any other button is clicked The video continues to play The embeded vid clip is named movie1 and i've tried using move1.stop(); but that stops the entire swf how to stop the movie - when another button is clicked?
I have an movieclip playing as auto start on the first page of my website. The component continues to play when I navigate away from the page. How can I stop the playback of the movie if it has not completed when navigation away from the page is invoked. I have search and am unable to find such an event using an FLVPlayback component. Presently there is no code in actionscript to display here.
I have an instance of an flvplayback component on a frame (not the first frame) on a timeline in a flash AS3 flash app file. I would like to stop the movie when i exit that frame, either via gotoAndStop() or whatever else.s there a listener for this? Or any solution that people know of?
I have a situation where I am loading an SWF (using URL as source) using the SWFLoader component in Flex 4, and now I need to implement Pause/Play and Stop functionality.
I was hoping to use the slider component to control some parameters in a game. However, after clicking on the slider to adjust it, the arrow keys start controlling the slider and stop controlling the character in the game. Is there a way to disable arrow key control of flash's built in slider component?
I'm using a video object and I want to make a stop button, yet pressing stop while the video is paused, will make it play.[code]I need to put an if function before the my_ns. pause (run_url); that asks if the movie is played or not.
I am working on a website using the [URL] tutorial for Flash CS4.
I ran into a bit of a problem, I made my flash movie and everything was good. I added a welcome video with sound that plays when the user opens the website, my only problem is that when you click on the other pages the video and sound keep playing even if you see the other page.
How do I get that video with sound to stop once you go away fro the page and go to another page?
I have a frame where I have added an flv playback component to play a flv file. Everything plays fine, but when I test the file and navagate away from the frame that the playback component is on, the video continues playing.
Is there any way to get the video to stop when the user navigates away from the frame? I'm sure this could be done if I add the video using AS 3.0 (that is what the navigation of the site is coded with).
I have my main file which is built in AS3 and I am loading some older AS2 files. These AS2 files have some video in it and use the FLVPlayback Component.
When I click my button to load the AS2 swf, they load fine and the video plays.
When I hit my back button, I do a simple removeChild on my swfLoader object (Loader).
When I go to open a different AS2 movie with video, the video does not work, however, if I restart the movie and click that AS2 movie first the video plays fine.
I have FLV video component waiting for the user to push play. However, I want a thumbnails that I can stick in there because it is just black. How does this work with the FLV playback component? I can't find anything about this.

i have a simple website i'm building. 4 sections/nav buttons. on the main homepage a video automatically starts playing, but when you click on another nav button which takes you to another frame in the site that displays another section - the video from the first homepage section is still playing.here's the code i'm using on the buttons that go from one section to the next:
Quote:
home.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, homeNav); function homeNav(event:MouseEvent):void { gotoAndPlay("home"); }
[code]....
what do i need to do so that the video stops playing when you go to another section from the homepage/section?
I've just posted a reply in the ActionScript3 Forum as someone else has had the same problem, but I can't find a solution so posting again here as it's taken me about 5 hours of getting nowhere and I'm sure this is really easy... have one frame on my time line called "theatre" and another called "Video" the buttons between the two work but the video continues to play in the background when I go back to the "theatre" frame on the same time line and I can't find a stop function that will work A button on my main page links to Video on the timeline with following AS3
btnVid.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickbtnVid); function clickbtnVid(event:Event) :void { gotoAndStop("Video");
I am dynamically playing a video.flv file on the stage when a button is clicked. It plays fine but continuously repeats itself. I want it to play once and the disappear.
