Actionscript 3.0 :: Video Component Audio Won't Stop
Jul 27, 2009I have a video component play on frame 1. When my movie goes to frame 2, the audio continues to play even though the video component is no longer on the stage.

Jun 2, 2010I built a timeline based player with 2 menus and many videos that you can play.The buttons move the timeline to a frame label and the video plays. The back button has a stop function built in it so the video stops playing when its hit.It plays wonderfully locally but once on a server after a few clicks it boggs down and sometimes the audio from the last video remains playing even when prompted to stop. I was pointed to use the add and remove child functions to prevent this but being very new to Flash and 100% self taught i have zero idea on how to do this. Jul 6, 2009I have a video on my site (progressive download, flv file, imported using flash cs3 video encoder) and I used the FLVPlayback component with a simple skin. The video works great, my only problem is that I want the sound to stop when I click on other buttons on the page. The way I designed the site (maybe not a great set up) everything is in one big swf file, so when you click on another button on the page to show another project, the sound from the video file (that is no longer showing) is still playing.URL...

Jul 30, 2009We're creating video that is destined for multiple countries - we've created a framework that has a video page (using the FLV playback component, w an external FLV w/ progressive download) for the given languages we're using, and subtitles for each, etc.. Until now, we've been using the same English video & audio for each, but the client is looking into having the videos dubbed into different languages.
We're hoping to avoid re-encoding the video for each language in order to accommodate for the different audio tracks. Also, having different video files for each language would mean using more storage (since we're talking about a lot of video files, so it adds up). Is there a way to use FLV playback to progressive download an FLV file (video only) while playing a separate mp3 file? Most inquiries into playing separate audio and video has led me to embedding video, which isn't feasible in our case.

May 28, 2009I've inserted a flv video ( from Import to stage) on the 1st fotogram( my homepage), and then I've extended it for 24 fotograms( because I set at the beginning 1 second = 25fps).If I play the video (with the play button of the "flash prebuilt player") without stop it and I'll surf toward another page the sound still playing, how can I fix? I mean I'm in the homepage, I start the video with the play button on the "flash prebuilt player" and if I don't stop the video and I surf towards another page the video disappear but the audio is still playing on the background. Which command ? I've try with stopAllSound(); on the fotogram 25 but it doesn't work and the audio is still playing.

Aug 5, 2009The situation is I have a number of pages with a single movie clip on each, however once the movie is playing and you click the home or contact buttons for example, it will go to the correct page but the movies sound keep playing in the background. So I've got a code, but I just get an error sayign tanmovstop() does not have a body. I'm very new to action script so am very lost! I'll be extremely grateful. ActionScript 2.0 :: Stop Video Component Without Disabling It?
Nov 20, 2009I have a presentation with two pages, each of which contains a video component with an associated video.
When the user clicks a button, the presentation changes from one page to the other. If a video is playing, I need to be able to stop it on the page change.
I can use stopAllSounds();, but if the user returns to the page again, the player is doesn't work unless the user clicks the Stop button before attempting to restart the video.
Is there any way to pause or stop the player that will still leave it fully functional?

But... if you click on one of the videos below... I keep talking over the top of the new video.
Is there a way to "tell target" the one video to stop playing from the action of clicking play on the other video so I stop talking the minute any button on the page is pressed?
I am using AS3 with the FLV Playback component for all these videos.

May 23, 2011There seems to be tutorials on starting the next video at completion of the previous one using the FLV2.5 Playback component, but stopping a video playback event when a new one is triggered. Ex. Video one button is clicked and video starts playing, viewer clicks video two button mid way through playback of video one and starts video two. How do I stop the playback of video one when video two button is clicked to avoid both playing simultaneously?

I know I can use the sound class, mySound.play(150), to start at 150ms but haven't come across a way to stop the audio say after 500ms or at 650ms.

Aug 25, 2009I ran a simple live video streaming application for the first time with actual users and ran into a couple of serious performance issues that had not turned up during testing. In this instance there was one video stream from a live web cam and used FMLE at 150 kbps using VP6 and MP3 @22k. There were 16 clients and everything worked pretty good for about 30 minutes. (although some clients said their audio and video were out of sync by up to 3 seconds)
Then individual clients would have either the video freeze or the video would continue and the audio would stop. These clints had to "disconnect" and then "connect" again to the application. This happened to all of the clients at one time or another for several minutes. I stopped and restarted the FMLE with progessively lower bandwidth settings down to 75 kbps but still clients were having the same issue.
I eventually stopped the FMLE and used the applications built in publisher at 45 kbps and that seemed to eliminate the freeze/dropping issue. But of course the video quality was very poor and some clients still reported that the audio was out of sync with the video. The server hosting the FMS application is a quad processor dell with lots of memory and network connectivity. The Flash Media Admin Console performance graph showed the total Bandwidth as 3 Mbps at maximum.

Jun 24, 2009So, I have a 3 minute mp3 file on my stage; the idea is to provide background music for my animation. So I go to preview the animation, and everything works fine, until I stop the preview. Then the audio keeps playing on and on. If I hit the preview again, obviously the music starts up again, and then won't stop, in a vicious circle of death that has me fleeing from the room.
To make it clear, I'm not previewing the audio file, I'm previewing the entire animation with the audio file on the stage.

Nov 9, 2010I have trouble in choosing between external video with playback component and embedded video . I have tried adding video to dynamic page and everything is perfect .This video I have imported using the option File ->import video -> external video with playback component. If I try to execute flv on another system , the video is not playing eventhough it is in library.
So, I have imported video using the option of embedded video and this worked fine on another systems as it embeds video. The video plays for only 2 min 54 sec. I have compressed the bit rate to how much ever I can in premier pro. It resulted in reducing the size of the file but still I see the video occupying more than 3500 frames in the timeline. I feel this is not optimal.

Dec 14, 2011I have a .fla that plays music until a certain text object (start_course_txt_mc) is visible. Then I want the music to stop and the narration to begin. I can get all that to happen. The problem is that the narration keeps playing over and over, but it is only playing about 3-4 seconds of an audio file that is about 30 seconds long.
