Any code that will allow the timeline to be scrubbed through using a slider -- similar to that of a quicktime / Media player slider used in video / mp3 players.

That file is set up exactly the same as the one that is working, so I don't know what's wrong with it other than perhaps the file is too large to handle that way?

This time I'm attempting to make a timeline, that should control what frame of a movie clip on the root timeline is displayed. So relevant to where the user slides the slider bar, the appropriate information will be displayed inside that movie clip. Now I really have NO idea where to start the coding that will attempt to convert the slider's location on its on slider bar, to what frame is shown on that movieclip.

I have an animation of someone dancing, frame by frame over several frames, if I slide the timeline back and forth I can change the rhythm and speed he dances and make him dance in time to whatever is playing on the radio! I would like to make this sliding timeline an interactive element, so I want the viewer to be able to slide the position of the timeline for the dancing frames so they can make up there own routines, so they are essentially sliding through the different frames back and forth how they choose, can you point me in the direction of a tutorial for this type of thing or is this something you have done before? I guess what I am trying to achieve is similar to a rewind/fast forward slider?

View 9 RepliesI've been able to do most things by finding something similar and adapting, but this one is just not working for me and I know it's got to be easy. I'm working in Flash CS3 and actionscript 2.0 but willing to switch to actionscript 3.0 if it's easier. So this is what I'm trying to do: I've got 15 images on a single layer, keyframes 1-15. I want to build a slider bar that controls the movement from one image to the next. I tried doing the slider bars tutorial [URL] and I can do the tutorial correctly, but i can't figure out how to adapt it to scroll through the keyframes.
Also, for now there are 15 images but there could be as many as 72.
Do I need to put stops in each keyframe as well?
What code would I need to take the Slider Component and have it control the Main timeline? I have created a presentation with audio embedded and images coming up and moving as the person is talking about it. I need a way to scrub back and forth down the timeline.

View 2 RepliesI am working on adding playback controls. So far, I've been able to achieve a working slider component that scrubs the external swf's timeline. However, it is faulty and the slider thumb doesn't follow move with the timeline of the swf-it just remains still. What I mean by faulty is that sometimes the slider scrubs the swf timeline and sometimes it fails with this error:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.

My problem with this is that It seems to be duplicating the first frame. When I slide the slider to the right it will hit first tick and still display what is in frame 1 .. then on the next ticks it will continue with the rest of the timeline. how to prevent / over come my slider from doing this with the first frame?

I am trying to add action script 2.0 to a slider that i created using http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/slider.htm that slides a movie clip that is a timeline from left to right. I really could just use a good tutorial that shows me how to link the image that im sliding to the slider bar. When the slider is moved to the right... the image flows left.... toward the end of the timeline. When the slider is all the way right. The end of the timeline is shown. The timeline is bigger than the stage so the slider is on a line with years on it.

View 1 RepliesI have slider that sits on my root timeline and controls the timeline of a movieclip sitting on it. The user can drag the scrubber controls to move the movie around as it is playing, and it progresses along the bar on its own. However, the issue I am having is that when the user drags the bar (in either direction) the actions that are on the frames that they scrub past never happen. Is there a way to be sure that if the user scrubs forward along the timeline, that these actions happen?
Also, say they get to the end and rewind back to the beginning, is there a way to reset the actions so that they can see everything again? and I hope this made sense. EDIT: Anyone? Also, I forgot to mention: this is in AS2.

p1 is the instance of the movie which I am trying to move with slider. When I apply above code on the handle of the slider with instance name 'handle' everything works perfect. Slider moves and so do the movie. Now instead when I bring the same code to the main timeline to do the same, onClipEvent does not work, it gives error. So I replaced it with the code written below. Now I can move the handle but movie is not moving.

What I have is a map that you can click on points and it will zoom in, you can also click on a "plus/minus" buttons to zoom in and out (I even have the mouse wheel zooming in and out). The client wanted me to add a "zoom slider bar" to it so you know you could move it up and down to scale it. Everything is working except the slider, I can't seem to get it to work with the position of the slider. All of the zoom functionality is there but the slider is killing me.
I am putting up the fla file since there is a lot of code in there and I didn't want to put it all in the forum. if you look in the fla in frame ten on line 726 you can find the function that is supposed to handle the zooming when you move the slider. Up on line 74 you can find the slider onPress and onRelease functions, but those I believe should be fine.
I am trying to create a basic timeline, similar to the timeline we all use in flash (see attached).
I have a playhead slider, which when dragged, just drags within its startDrag() limits.
I also have horizontal window scroller which also when dragged, just drags within its startDrag() limits.
I am trying to work out how to get the horizontal window scroller to scroll when the playhead slider hits the left or right edge. I am using hittest for this collision.
I have the playHeadSlider scrolling along the top. When playHeadSlider collides with hittestThing I want mcContents to then move.
It kind of works.. mcContents moves when the playHeadSlider is in collision with the hittestThing.. but it just moves rather than 'drags' across. I have it set up so that mcContents is twice the width (approx) of mcScrollWindow.
I need to somehow update what I have so that if the playHeadSlider collides with hittestThing on the right, mcContents only moves to the right and if playHeadSlider collides with hittestThing2 on the left, mcContents only moves to the left.
I'd like to make a circle slide ( Slider that on the shape of circle instead of vertical and horizontal Slider) like this one:

View 1 RepliesI've been looking for a tutorial to create a timeline scrubber (not animating specific movie clips, but actually a scrubber that can move along different keyframes of a timeline that has a series of images on it).I found a bunch of these (scrubber controlling specific movie clips): http:[url]....but nothing that allows you to just scrub back and forth on the whole timeline in the exported swf.
