ActionScript 2.0 :: Dynamic Scrolling Text Box Using Kirupa Tutorial
Dec 23, 2003I've created a dynamic scrolling text box using the kirupa tutorial. It's the tutorial that uses self-made buttons to scroll up and down. In my movie I've got 7 buttons, when one is pressed I want to display different text in the text box. I have it working by loading text from .txt files but it is slow and does not allow me to format the text as I would like. What I'm thinking of doing is creating 7 keyframes on the timeline of the scrollable text. Then in each frame have the different text that I want displayed. When I click on a button it would go to one of those frames thus displaying the corresponding text. I can't get it to work. I've changed the text box to a static text box. I can't get it to move the playhead to the next frame in the text movie clip which the scrollable text box resides in.

numbers = buttons linked to another set of external images that are related to the big image. the problem is i don't know what controls the thumbnail/main image when i click on the scroller (i'm kinda lost in the code). so right now i have only one set of numbers regardless of which big image opens up.

Feb 3, 2008I am loading external SWF files into a blank movieclip (content1) Problem is each SWF is different in height.I need to be able to do a full screen scroll but the scroll will only work with the main stage height, Is there any way to make the page scroll to the bottom of each external movieclip? At the moment it either clips off or I have to set the stage height to something like 1200px to scroll through all the text.

Jun 1, 2010I have a movieclip linked to a scrollPane.It loads into it fine. The problem is that the scrollPane won't scroll the full size of the movieclip. The movieclip is about 1000 high. If I set the scrollpane size to 500 by 500, it'll scroll down about 600y of the movieclip, but no further.How do you tell a scrollPane to allow scrolling the full size of it's content?And on a similar thread, is there a way to tell a whole swf to scroll? So if you have a swf that's 1000x 500y, and it's dynamic content becomes 1000x 800y, can you make the whole swf scroll like an html page, or do you have to encase all the content in a scrollpane?

and I've basically poached their script, a jQuery initiated 100% width and height background that loads into a couple of holding containers.
The thing I would like to do differently is fix the background in place so the content can scroll over it. How can I, say, write the flash movie to the BODY background or something like that? I'm not a javascript wiz and am not sure how I might do this.

Mar 22, 2005I sent an email to pom regarding a tutorial that he wrote, but the email was bounced and he hasn't replied to my PM. I have followed both of pom's tutorials that involve experiments with perspective in Flash, but I have encountered a problem while attempting to duplicate a movie clip symbol in the second tutorial ([URL]). I have a single instance of the "ball" movie clip symbol appearing at random positions. However, I cannot seem to successfully duplicate the symbol instance at random positions using the loop that pom provided:

Apr 24, 2002im tryin to make a mouse swarm effect... where all these little dots swarm around the mouse... im using the physics spring tutorial that pom made... and trying to modify the code so if the distance between the object and the mouse is less than a given value, the inirtia is changed to 1 so it will constantly move... i tried doing that with an if statement cuz thats the only way i can think of doin it... but it doesnt work... um... and secondly, when that gets workin, i want the inirtia to get to a set speed so it wont be shooting off the screen or anything without slowing down... should i set that manually or what... or will it just slow down by itself when it shoots out of the distance range?... anyway heres the code that i modified

Feb 28, 2006original: I really just need to figure out how to center the pictures. here is what I did I have modified the tutorial that I finished to have a bigger stage for bigger pictures. Everything is working properly but the pictures are displayed on the left side, I want to have them centered in the stage for the images, after clicking on the thumbnails, plus my images are different sizes as well. ranging from 200x410 to 744x410 but all are the same height of 410. i will post up what I am talking about at the end. I have testedthe projector file on Mac 10.4 and Windows XP and all show theflashplayer's top tool bar. The only way to go full screen is tomanually select view/full screen in the player toolbar.
