If perhaps they were all predetermined in size ect.? Similar to how HTML calls images from a folder located on the server. I'm guessing something to do with PHP? Touching upon this briefly so understand flash uses PHP to communcate outside of the swf file to complete certain tasks.

I bought a flash template and have spent about a month fiddling about and slowly learning how flash works, and my knowledge of flash (non-existant) has shot up dramatically, but there are still things that baffle me. When I find my thing, then I load next picture into BitmapData and compare again but here is my problem. Loading picture into bmp only works when I click button which lead to function like that:

doesn't load image. Only thing that works is to use Spark Image component (with already specified source to file) and get picture from it.
I set up empty movie clip containers to hold my external .swf files when i load them in. I have 9 different external files that all load correctly. My issue is that when people view my website and cache the files after dynamically loading them, my changes that i make and upload dont take effect because their computers just pull the cached files from the last time they viewed it. This is critical for my site to work because of the amount of text updating and news that i do on it.
View 13 RepliesI've got these dynamic text fields that have their autosize and multiline set to true. I assign a width when I create the textfields, but that doesn't seem to have an effect. Using an interval, i cycle through an array that provides strings to populate the text fields.
The textfields seem to take the width of the first strings that populate them, and then stay that size, regardless of the amount of text in each new string.[code]...

I m planing to create a full flash site. But in stead of jus an URL that lead the user to index.html, I wish to allow the URL to direct the user to goto specific page. It is sumthing like [URL]. note the URL, it passes parameter to the flash movie without reloading the swf. Any Idea how to create that?

Are there sites that use a graphic frontend for updating flash content? If so, what is the common way of doing this? XML? PHP+XML+SQL? etc. I am relatively new to all of this but I have been messing with Flash and XML. I have a full flash site which uses swfobject to embed it 100% height and width. I'm using swffit to force a browser scroll bar for pages with a large amount of content. This is all fine and works perfectly. I also have the content in HTML format, as alternative content and this also works apart from in order to get the flash swfobject to work I need to add the overflow = hidden in the CSS, like:

I am creating a web site that will use XML to load content - a sort of video gallery.I plan to make scrolling movie clip for navigation containing instances of the single clip - "movie", which contains thumbnail, title and link, and I plan to use duplicateMovieClip to create as many MCs in navigation as needed.
But I have the following problem:I made a single MC - "movie" that takes the title, description and link from XML.I take the lenght of the XML nodes and duplicate the movie clip through the following code, where the variable j is the required number of MCs:

Ive been looking into whether or not, it is possible to load the entirety of site content dynamically from a text file. I know, how to specifically choose and reference from one txt file to a dynamic text block. But, is there a way to have one huge file? That is to say, can I target certain things within a txt file?

I built my navagation bar in a movie clip, because they use independent timelines. However I can't seem to figgure out how to make the buttons in the movie clip effect the timeline of the main file. I'm trying to create a simple banner ad where the mouse hovers over the button and a panel shows up over some content of the site.[URL]I have two different .swfs: the container, which is the button and a loaded swf that has the animation that comes up when the button is clicked. The button is only 183 x 40px where as the loaded swf is 183 x 160px.When the loader swf is loaded, it takes the dimensions of the button.
Is there a way to have the loader swf be its original dimensions, so when the mouse hovers over the button, the loader swf covers some of the content on the Web site?Also, how can I change the MouseEvent to load the SWF when the mouse is only over the button and not clicking?

i have made a site in flash. stage size 955x600 i have exported it as fullscreen with no scale. the problem is that if i browse the site with a resolution of 800x600 (760x420 if i'm not wrong), the browser dont' add scrolls and its impossible to see the complete site. How can i fix this without resizing the site. i want the users to see with the proportions that i have now.. ijust want a scroll on the browser.

View 1 Replies[URL] Above is a link to view the project I'm working on. Once the site loads if you go to the "Contact Us" page the content doesn't load correctly. I'm using an extrnal .xml and .css files for the content. I'm also embedding the fonts dynamicly. If I test the file locally on my computer is works fine the image loads as it's supposed to and content looks correct. However when I post the files to the server (which work exactly the same way) I get the white box when you can see from the link above. I'm at a complete loss as to how to to fix this.
View 3 RepliesI'm have made some buttons (movie clip) and when I click on it, I want a file (home.swf) to load in a loader (mx.contents.loader) and I want the other buttons to do the same, all load into the same loader. I have no Idea how to do that. The way I have it set up now, the home.swf will load over the entire screen and that is not what I want. I just want the content to load into the loader and have its content change once I click on the other buttons. Here is a copy and past of that I have at the moment, I'm using Flash 8 to do it all.
