So it has been posed to me to create a Radial Gradient Blur on a still frame of a video. I wanted to ask the community how they would go about doing this after posing my own solution.
Here is the concept solution to me:
1. Create a bitmap from the still frame
2. Create a gradient filled shape with alpha from 0-100, center out.
3. Apply a blur filter to the bitmap made from the video still
4. Set the bitmaps mask to the gradient filled shape
5. Position and overlay the newly created/masked image over the video itself to generate the gradient blur effect.

View 2 RepliesI have a circle mask over a photo. I'm trying to get it so the edges fade out to black. Currently, it just is a solid white circle. It's a movie clip and has a radial blur and is motion tweened. The alpha channel on the radial blur is 100% on the first point and 0% on the last. Can a spotlight with radial blur/fade be done without adding code or actionscript?
I've attached a photo of what I have now along with what the movieclip I'm using.
I'm on CS5, but can only use AS2, if actionscript is necessary.

I'm coding a game where I have a skill that has around 2 minutes of cooldown, so I'd like to have a neat cooldown animation like the one in World of Warcraft. But instead of getting an artist to draw one, and me having to put it on A LOT of frames, I was wondering, how it can be done by using AS3? View 8 RepliesI have a graphic symbol of a circle that has a radial gradient fill of yellow to red. All I want to do is have it change from yellow to red to red to yellow. I tried the advanced color settings but that doesnt quite do what I want. With the color settings.. it changes the complete tint of the object. I want it to look like it is tweening the gradient not the object. So if the object had a yellow center with a red outer edge I want it to chenge to a red center with a yellow outer edge. How do I accomplish this?
View 1 RepliesI've been trying to learn just now how to dynamically create a radial gradient in a circle. All the pages that I can find use the command 'beginGradientFill', but when I use it I get the following messages:
Warning: 1060: Migration issue: The method beginGradientFill is no longer supported. For more information, see the Graphics class..
and
TypeError: Error #1006: beginGradientFill is not a function.
Unfortunately I can't seem to find the replacement, or any other pages that describe an alternative to that function. What is the way to do a radial gradient now?
I need to make a radial animation tween like a pie chart. I want it to start as a full pie and as the animation plays the pie gets smaller. It seems simple but I think I have to use actionscript to accomplish. Though I have no idea of how? I guess it has to do with a lot of math and using the actionscript drawing api.

I need to be able to compare the number of whole days between two dates in ActionScript, is this possible? I'd like to test if one date is 7 days or less after today, and if so is it one day or less (if it's before today this also counts).The workaround I have in place is using the .time part of the date field:

2) how do I need to show months on Xaxis. beacuse I'm asking this regarding, I have kept a filters that even if we want to see some months or a particular months or perticalar span of months... there on Xaxis it need to change the months dynamically depending on the filters..... (for ex, on Xaxis the values should be (Jan, Apr, Jun,Oct) if i select the 3 months period filter....)

these values do not appear to be seperated but I am hoping they are (there should be 11 unique values here).
How can I sum the 11 values as extracted from my XML?
I have a value object, inside are lots of getters/setters. It is not a dynamic class. And I desperately need to search an ArrayCollection filled with them. The search spans all fields, so and there are about 13 different types of VOs I'll be doing this with. I've tried ObjectUtil.toString() and that works fine and all but it's slow as hell. There are 20 properties to return and ObjectUtil.toString() adds a bunch of junk to the output, not to mention the code is slow to begin with.
flash.utils.describeType() is even worse. I'll be pleased to hear I'm missing something obvious. UPDATE: I ended up taking Juan's code along with the filter algorithm I use for searching and created ArrayCollectionX. Which means that every ArrayCollection I use now handles it's own filters. I can search through individual properties of the items in the AC, or with Juan's code it handles full collection search like a champ. There was negligible lag compared to the same solution with external filters.
With 5 variables consist of a value, I would need to check if any value between fa to fe has a gap of 6 in integer as in f1=1, f2=0, f3=0, f4=7, f5=10; and between f1 and f4, which has a gap of 6.

I'm using YQL to try and find band photos for a project I'm working on. If an image is found, it is returned in an XML response, and my flash code posts it. But if one is not found, I'm not quite sure how to tell flash not to do anything. Here's my code:
